October 1st - Rabbits Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

It was SO HOT today!! :o I would bring a couple things to the car or trailer and then have to take a long break inside to cool off for awhile. So it took a long time to get the rest of my stuff loaded up. By the time I got it done and cleaned up the living room and was ready to go, it was 3pm already! I let the car run for about 15 minutes before bringing the cats out there. It wasn't cool but not too hot. My AC in the house was set at 77* but only got down to 94*. It just can't keep up with this heat!

So there was a lot of meowing in the back seat to begin with but Sophie finally settled down. Took longer for Romeow to quiet down. I always get lost getting thru the little towns just before getting to the I-8. I needed to turn east to get to the main highway going south but it isn't marked and I somehow forgot to write down the directions to get there and forgot to put the address of the Yuma Motel 6 in my GPS. Finally had to pull over to check on my phone. Finally found my way to the I-8. Tomorrow will be much easier since I will take the I-8 all the way to the I-10 and south to Tucson. Will be a little bit longer drive tho, but not as hot since I will be leaving early when it is cooler out. Will "only" be 85* by 8am.

My motel room turned out to be on the 2nd floor. I asked about a first floor room and the only one left was a smoking room. So I had to lug the cats up a flight of stairs and then go back for my stuff. It was still 110* when I got here! I am wiped out! I was gonna go to the Denny's next door for dinner but too tired. Will get up early and go for breakfast before heading out.

Sophie is doing good but Romeow is very scared yet. I have them in the large screen room I got for them. This room doesn't have the platform bed frames that many Motel6's have to keep animals from getting and hiding under the bed. So I need to keep them in the screen room while we are here. It is big enough for their bed, litter box, and food/water dish. I brought a small fitted sheet with to cover it so they would feel more secure in there.

I need to call Julie yet and then get ready for bed.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Another hot day, it was 98, but have been having a good breeze most of the time. I waited until 6:00 and mowed. I need to start earlier now because it is getting dark earlier. I decided to make cookies and doubled the recipe. I hope I don't try that again, I almost didn't have a mixing bowl large enough.

Sue, we will be watching the possible storm for a week. There is only a 40% chance of development in the next 7 days. Hope it just fizzles out. We don't have many fall colors here, most of the trees are green all year.

Liz, glad you didn't have a lot of damage again. Hope your daughter gets her power back soon.

I haven't had an appointment where they ask me to remember anything. I would not be good with that. I saw someone mention having to draw a clock and show the time. I managed to do it but don't they know most clocks are digital now. I usually have about $20 in ones because we like to play LCR at the campouts. I try to keep some $5's and $10's.

Barbie, glad you made it to the motel.

All you really need in cash for a disaster is enough cash for a tank or two of gas, and a few groceries or things to eat. Just enough to get you maybe 100 or so miles away from home.

the Liz checked in and that they are doing ok I laugh about her second posting
Lyn are you enjoying being in a neighborhood?
we have color here not I'm sure quite the same as the hard woods give but it's pretty
if I get out at the time I want to on Thurs am thinking of taking a different route so that I can see the colors down the canyon they tend to be more than on the pass... the pass is more pine with some aspens mixed in but then it's hard to see the color when driving as we all know
you all have a great day
