July 1st - Rabbits Day

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

July 1st - Rabbits Day

Postby Colliemom » Mon Jul 01, 2024 6:26 am

43° to start this July morning off today. Heading to 74 or so. Was cloudy and quite cool yesterday, with high in 60’s and a strong WNW wind making it feel colder. Sunny is forecast today.

First thing on agenda is Molly has a vet visit. Then I plan to prime and paint the new porch step. While primer is drying, will go around porch trim and fill in screw holes from removing brackets, old railings etc. and the those areas ready for painting. Rain in forecast for later tomorrow afternoon into Wednesday morning.

O’Sharon, the rain you have been getting passed through here before it came your way. Whether you get this cool air remains to be seen though. I’m sure we will be over our June rainfall when the statistics come out. We were for May. Judy, have fun at tbe festival. I’ve never been to it and have no intention of going. It’s a zoo over there and traffic is a nightmare, not to mention finding a place to park. Martha, wonder if this first hurricane will cause any issues in U.S. Last I saw it was heading toward Gulf of Mexico eventually.

Need to get a move on here. Vet appt. Is 9:00 and I need to wash my hair, get out of Jammie’s and get dressed. Nice thing is, it’s only 10 minutes up the road.

Morning Sue and All, ((hugs)) for Molly and you. It’s 68° and lovely this morning. Iffy internet for 3 days so was so bored. Had an appointment 2 hours away with a low vision specialist, no thanks don’t want a $845 magnifying glass. Not a wasted trip #1 did and I picked up my friend Edith and we went to her favorite tavern for lunch. Dad told our bubbly young waitress that we have been friends for 81 years and we were the hit of the tavern. lol. More memories. I did say rabbits so good for another month. Take care and be safe.

Morning Sue, Shirl and all who follow. I do believe I said rabbits before talking to Ty. :D

Sue, I hope all goes well with Molly. It's so hard to not be able to know what's happening. Shirl, I'd be lost without my Internet anymore.

I'm wishing I hadn't started this hot water tank fiasco. It's going to hurt me financially as it keeps going further over budget. Oh well. It's only money, right? Maybe it'll be ready by the time I head to Texas lolol

Happy July!

Mornin' ladies and all who follow~~~

I did say Rabbits around 3 am so here's hoping the trip to Illinois is uneventful.

Not a whole lot to talk about today. Moved to Holbrook, AZ yesterday for the week. It was supposed to be a short drive from Flagstaff yesterday, but a storm moved across I-40 just west of Winslow, so I pulled off on the Two Guns exit along with 3 other RVs, 3 semis and multiple cars. 15 minutes later the storm moved on.

Mostly came this way to pick up a decal for the Petrified Forest NP since I started collecting them after I was here before, but still found a few more new places to see while her.

Wishing good news at the very for Molly.

Have a good July ladies. Hopefully any fur babies won't be to stressed from fireworks.

Good Morning….I, of course, didn’t do rabbit’s this morning. Been slowly cleaning out “STUFF”. I am shocked at how much I’ve gathered in the 14 years I’ve here!
The trailer is parked and level, with electricity. It has a king bed which I want removed. What a waste of space for me! Also need the ramp build as the steps are very difficult. Things take time and I am being very patient. I hope!
We begin a new month today. Time is flying…. I really like the trailer I bought. The floor plan I exactly what I wanted. As it’s 30 feet I would never attempt to pull it. That is what I’ve been doing.

I just got back home from a dentist appointment and I'm so glad that it is over. Shirl good to hear you had a good time with Edith and you daughter. My friend from first grade came to visit me yesterday it wasn't as much fun as your day. She brought a friend with her and neither wanted a drink. Two hours into the visit I decided I was having one!! She lives out of state and I seldom have contact with her.
It is a lovely 78 degrees her with no humidity!! But the forecast is for up and down temps the rest of the week.
Lyn sounds as though things are coming together but nothing seem to be without glitches these days. Hope it is ready for you soon.

We may need to find the Bail Fund I haven't been excused yet from the US District Court jury duty on the 10th. I filled out all the questions that people over 70 were asked to do and thought surely my replies would get me excused because I'm way over 70. I've left messages but they say 2-3 days to get an answer, my last call was never returned. Does anyone know if you call the night before to see if you have to appear you can talk to a person to tell them you aren't coming?

I of course forgot to say Rabbits this morning...

Hello Everybody. I’m checking in from Connecticut. My trip to Alaska went well. I loved the land tours in Denali National Park and only wished I had gone in the Roadtrek years ago. So much news to catch up on!

Pat, sounds like you had a rough start to this year, but it was so good to hear from you.

Lyn, what trailer??? I must have missed that post. Did you give up the condo????

It was sad news to learn that Dock had died. Lori and Dock held the first Women’s Forum gtg that I attended, back in 2008, I think. I met up with them many times in Georgia.
I could go on and mention everybody… I think about you all. Enjoy today. Peggy

It's 98 today. The noon weather said the heat index is 115 in Abbeville. I wonder what it was yesterday when the temperature was 100. Luna wanted out so I let her out on the porch. She nosed around for a few minutes and decided taking a nap in the house was a better idea. Rascal is taking a nap on the shelf unit in my office. He is very fuzzy. There is a place on the shelf he as claimed and if I put anything on it he pushes it off in the floor.

Cheryl, I saw your pictures of the cave on Facebook. That would have been a nope for me too. I am slightly claustrophobic.

Lyn, glad you are getting your trailer set up. Trailer steps are dangerous with no railing. I know what you mean about the "STUFF." We lost almost everything when our house flooded 18 years ago but this house is full now too.

BJ, the letter we get about jury duty here has a number we can call the night before but you only get a recording. I had called to get out of jury duty a few years ago and who ever I talked told me she would take me off the jury duty list. Well, that didn't happen. I got a letter for the Grand Jury. I wasn't going anywhere so showed up. The judge ask if anyone 70 years old or older would like to be excused so I left.

I finally called to make an appointment for my foot pain but no one has called me back. One of the horse vet's we used has a son that is a foot doctor. That's the one I called. Hope he is as good as his dad was.

Greetings from near Hazelton, British Columbia!

Shirl, fun time you had! Sue, hoping the best for Molly. I think I missed things during the last trip like Beth’s hot water issue. Cheryl, will catch up on your FB posts. Lyn, excited things are moving along with the trailer.

It’s been 4 days on the road. I’ve seen a couple eagles and today a black bear! Sightseeing other than on the road will begin Wednesday.

A few years ago, while I was still working, but not quite in my 70s, I had just had knee replacement surgery when i got the letter about jury duty. I had already postponed jury duty once, so I figured I'd go in and it would just be one day of sitting around and I'd be done. Except, it turned out to be a real trial that involved child abuse of some kind. They had a huge jury pool for this trial and were taking a long time to go through selection, so it went to a second day. After sitting on hard chairs and not being able to prop my leg up, my knee was really bothering me. I had brought in my bottle of Vicodin on the second day, and told the bailiff that my leg was bothering me and I had to take pain meds. The judge looked at the bottle and at my leg, and sent me home, so codeine-level pain pills also work. Plus, it was really dumb of me to go in only about 5 weeks after my surgery!!!!

Enjoyed meeting my niece and her mother, my ex-sister-in-law for lunch at the Cherry Festival today. I took one of the free shuttles in and back, so no trouble parking. It stopped right out in front of state park. Bought myself a Cherry Festival t-shirt and a heavy white zip-up sweatshirt. I had a cheap one that had tiny pockets so could not even put my cell phone or camera in them, and tossed it out several months ago. And my sons have been buying me hoodies, which unless they are very big, I cannot get on and take off easily because of my left shoulder. I finally told them thanks, but I need things I can zip up. This more expensive sweatshirt has big pockets and is really heavy for cold days--and there should be a lot of them in Canada in August and September!!

My niece is my deceased brother's daughter. He lied, cheated, drank, and used drugs and died about four years ago. His daughter has always missed him and thought he was the best dad ever, but she does not know all that he did, like scamming my parents for money because he told them if he did not pay child support, my SIL would beat their grandchildren. This was a big lie, and he never gave her the money--kept it himself. Did a lot of things to blame me and my parents for his drinking, and other stuff, so I hate to even think about it, but she is the only niece I have and I was the only person from my part of the family there, so I was glad to drive up here. Had a good time at the graduation party and today. Great-niece has PKU, and if you know anything about it, it makes a diabetic diet look easy. Almost any protein can cause brain damage, so she eats mostly fruit, rice, and low protein prescription foods. She cannot eat meat, fish, eggs, beans, peas, nuts, and has had to limit bread and potatoes. She has to drink a special protein drink four times a day and measure all food, However, she is on a new injectable treatment that is enabling her to eat a more normal diet. She is going away to college, so will have to monitor things and dorm will have to provide special meals for her. Keeping our fingers crossed she behaves herself!!!

Isn't PKU something they test at birth??? that sounds like a very hard diet to live with... but if she has dealt with it her whole live she probably will behave herself...
that sounds like a nice festival to attend... bought a few cherries the other day should have bought more and fewer grapes... it's weird how some will taste so good and others well not so good... these I'm not enjoying
when the 5th wheel was set up in SLC before Larry passed away we had a "stairs" placed over the top of the rv's so much more secure... then when in Tetonia after a couple of years they fixed a "bridge" I did have to walk up hill a bit but then across on this bridge to the 5th wheel so much nicer no stairs at all ... I don''t relish stairs or any step ups.. unless I can have help a steady hand or a car hood or a railing ....I'm sure Lyn when you get it all finished it's going to be so nice.... what size of bed will you want?
Anita enjoy your trip what are you in?
I will have to go find Cheryl's post about the cave I missed it I believe...
Peggy I think if you go back to possibly late May or early June you will find Lyn's post about her tailor and may even be in General which would be easier to find...
I said RABBITS today we will hope for the best
this is the starting of the third week of this stuff... think I'm starting to feel better but still fall asleep so so easy there is a difference between lazy out on the bed and doing nothing but word search and FB and falling asleep reading scriptures... so although I feel like I'm still lazy its also different just no get up and go at all... I'm sure that mom is getting tired of soup or sandwiches... dd is coming tomorrow to do laundry maybe I'll find some ambition to fix a decent meal.. I saw a salmon recipe that I posted on FB want to try it perhaps I will do that sounds easy but then so is tuna fish sandwich and that has been more than I wanted to do... I still have plants to plant hopefully tomorrow if I don't call the dr's office and see if I can be seen... but in all reality I do believe I'm improving just not fast enough
my two eldest girls are home safe and sound I'm sure that they had a great trip...
it sounds like Martha your kitty knows just where she wants to sleep
Sue hopefully the vet visit went well
I'm sure that I've missed someone not intentionally but the mind isn't pulling more up
you all have a great day

Good morning ladies!

I said Rabbitts yesterday and even ad a bit of luck already. I ad both ears irrigated yesterday because I was having lots of trouble earing and now I ear tings I haven't heard in years. I don't need close captioning on TV, either. Yesterday I made beef stew for dinner and today were having crab cakes.

Our weather is in the low to mid 90s every day. Marta, I've been watching the hurricane in the Caribbean. This is the earliest hurricane in recorded history.

I am enjoying reading all your posts.
