Sunny Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Sunday

Figured I'd better start the day here so I can remember it is Sunday. Had a good time at my great-niece's graduation party. I have not seen her for a few years, and I cannot believe how tall she is. We have a weird "tall" gene in our family, and apparently she got it. My parents were relatively short, as am I, but I had a 6'3" brother and he had two sons, one 6' 5" and one 6' 2". My ex was only 5'11", but I also had a 6'3" son. Weird. So my niece is about 5' 8" and her husband maybe an inch or two taller, but her daughter is at least 5' 10' or 5'11"!! My niece has a son who is close to 6', but I am not sure of his exact height.

Am at Traverse City SP, and it has a reputation for being hard to park in. This week is the big Cherry Festival, so it is packed. I reserved a handicapped spot, thinking it would be easier, but there are trees right along the narrow roadway on the other side, and I had a line of cars behind me waiting to get in, so I just pulled in forward. Lots of space, at least, and tomorrow, I will take the nearby shuttle to downtown and the festival.

It's nice you had the option to pull in forward. And you're okay with it. Some places I would be, others not so much.

I just walked Ty because we are in a storm watch with flash flooding possible starting soon and going till late tonight. I'll hope there will be at least a chance to get Ty out to pee later. I'm thinking monsoon season is starting early.

Unfortunately, Beth, I did not have much choice, and I did not ask for permission. The sites are 90 degrees, not slanted, and the road is one-way and very narrow. There were two big trees just ahead of my site and two vehicles parked almost on the roadway on the opposite side of the road. Also, a big tree on my side just ahead of my site! Plus, I had a line of vehicles backed up behind me, so I just decided to pull in forward. The place is packed--Cherry Festival and 4th of July holiday coming up. If it had been mostly empty, I could have done it, but that might have taken driving the wrong way on the road! Luckily, I have a 30 amp extension cord and filled my tanks at the dump station before I got here. People on opposite side of the road told me they got their big rig in by coming in through an empty site on the road behind them! It's a little awkward facing inward, but OK for two nights.

I'm going to walk around with a map and circle sites I think I can get into another time. Campground was built in 1920, I found out, and my rig is at about the maximum.

One thing I learned in Washington and Oregon state parks on the coast is that many of them require you to be facing out in case of a tsunami! They don't want anyone blocking the road backing out if everyone has to head for higher ground. They also have towers with big sirens on them.

wow not many posting today
I almost didn't because it was a do nothing day
didn't make it to church still coughing like I have a right too so watched it zoom rest of the day was spent either reading scriptures or sleeping sometimes at the same time
rewarmed the casserole from the other day added some more soup to it much better also made cole slaw and corn on the cob
my granddaughter made some mx street corn while I was there she takes it off the cob was so good
and just recently I was it as a recipe but didn't get the chance to read it... need to look and see if I can find it
I bought a large bag of popped pop corn didn't enjoy the first dish neither did mom so tonight I melted a little bit of butter and put some popcorn in it a bit more salt and it's not bad will need to fix mom some later
remember it's the last day of the month making tomorrow Rabbit's day
the kid downstairs needed a ride to the airport as he was taking a company car to casper for more training told him after finding out more of the time table if I made it to church would take him as soon as church was out or if I didn't (forgetting about zoom) I'd take him when I got up ... so got a phone call from him really assumed that he was wondering what time I would take him... no he decided to go earlier guess they had a spot so he could park his car... he was at that moment in Dubois about 1.5 hours away... can't find his wallet will I go downstairs and see if it's there I explain to him that I don't go downstairs for a couple of reasons my oxygen doesn't go down that far and the stairs and I don't get along too well... but friends would be stopping by after church they could go down and look he was going to have his parents come from their home 2 hours west of here get the wallet and drive to Casper to bring his wallet... so I called him back and told him it would be better if he came back and got his wallet as he wouldn't be able to get into the motel without it ... but none the less it was his decision my friends were down stairs when he came in went down and looked couldn't find it they couldn't either as he walked out the door he said I just remembered that I packed it oh my did I call him a kid???? I didn't even think to suggest looking in his luggage because why would you???
I would want it close by so I could get it for gas.... he found out cause he stopped for munchies...
you all have a great day oh by the way that worked with the popcorn

Judy, I don't think I would like to be camped where there was a chance of a tsunami. Of course, I live where I have to worry about hurricanes for 6 months. We get to watch the storms for two weeks waiting to see which way they are going. My first husband was 6' 2" and his mother, and sisters were close to 6'. I looked like a midget in the family pictures.

I think we have rain coming this week so I decided to mow this afternoon. It got up to 100 so I had to wait until 6:00 before it cooled off some. I am not looking forward to going to the lake for the 4th. It's just so darn hot I just want to stay in the air conditioning.

I dug around in the freezer and found a steak so had steak and a baked potato for lunch and dinner. Another exciting day in the country.
