HOT Tuesday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

HOT Tuesday!

Postby Colliemom » Tue Jun 18, 2024 9:57 am

Mid morning here at tbe 45th. Temp outside is 82° Temp inside is about 75° and we are heading to around 90° today. It is humid out as well, thanks to the strong southwest wind bringing up the air from down south below us. At least we are not under the excessive heat index advisories that the central and southern part of Michigan is and also some counties along the lake Michigan shoreline, have air quality alerts in affect. Probably due to the southwest wind pulling the air from Chicago and other industrial cities at the south end of Lake Michigan. Guess today and tomorrow are supposed to be the hottest days for us and then it looks like it’s going to settle into the 80s. Might have a shower this afternoon and I hope we do because things are getting very dry.

I am taking a short break from cleaning house as it hasn’t been done for a a while since I was doing things with my friend while she was camping up here and also finishing up my landscaping project ahead of a heat wave. Kitchen and bathroom are clean and all I have left to do is just run the vac and dust. Then I will go outside and water my flowers and later I will go and do the ones at the front entrance. I have my free standing air conditioner operating and I am alternating between that and my box fan keeping the house comfortable around 75..

Happy birthday Judy. Hope you have a nice meal and birthday cake with your son’s family yesterday. Anita, can you online and check your checking account to where are you last balanced and go from there? Beth, guess you found out why nobody was getting that oil change. Sincethey were out of the regular oil, nobody was about to pay the higher price. Oil changes aren’t cheap these days as it is. I get all of mine at my dealers. That way they can keep maintenance records on my vehicle. SinceI just took lease out on a new truck. I have three free oil changes coming :D

Can’t remember what else I was going to come and I probably because I want to get back to work here. So I will catch you all later. :D

On Edit: sheila, I meant to tell you that if your mom is having an issue with bed sores, , one of the things that will definitely take care of them is an Aloe plant. Just break off a small piece and rub that end on the sores e very day. Will be amazed at the results. My mother had bad sores when she was bedridden fron cancer and I did that every day. The hospice nurse was amazed and asked me what I used as she too tried everything. when I told her she said she never thought of that. We all know that Aloe does have healing properties.

Just a brief note. For those that have been around since the beginning will remember Lori and Ernie (Dock) Sloan. Lori notified everyone on Facebook that Dock passed away last week. Lori and Dock (otherwise known the forum as the Sultan) ran the first GTG that I ever attended back in 2008 (I think it was) anyway I drove out to Pennsylvania to meet total strangers. Besides Lori and Dock and a couple of women Dock worked with at that time, I was also able to meet Paulette and the famous Shirlv. Later one of their GTGs I think was where I first meet Irmi and Steve. Lori and Dock were full timers for quite a few years after he retired. (He was also retired career military.) They would summer in PA near family at a campground that belonged to family members and spent several years Camp Hosting at military campgrounds. I do think they made it to the family Texas GTG of the "pink shirts" of the Sisters. Nan and I even met up with them one summer near the Tetons as wwe made our way home from Alaska. As Dock's health declined they moved back into a stick and brick house near family. Dock finally lost his long battle with COPD. I know that some of Lori's family still live north of them in PA, because her sisters have been part of her support system. (And Dock had Hospice support since last summer. If anyone is interested in their address, text my phone or send my a DM and I will send it out to you.....Lori had/has the biggest and kindest and most welcoming heart.

Another hot day here. The temperature did go down a bit when we got a brief rain around 2 this afternoon but it just added to the humidity. Luckily after back and forth with the old unit that was luckily still under warranty I will get a refund for it. So a trip to home depot for a replacement. Of course I now have a broken conditioner to get rid of but guess small price to pay. Luckily my son was able to remove and replace with new one within a couple of days. We’re under a heat advisory until Friday night so it more than welcome to be cooling the house. Tina, so sorry to her of Lori’s husband’s passing. I remember her opening Good Morning most mornings. I missed the one gtg here in PA. If I recall it was soon after I joined this group and I was still feeling my way through this new experience and of actually traveling in my rv. Please extend my condolences to Lori. I’ve been a bit under to weather these last few days again but as a last ditch effort made an appointment to get the oral surgeon referral process going. No one has been able to pinpoint the reason for the symptoms I’m having so it’s a process of elimination. So just do what I can when I can. I’ve been trying to keep up with everyone here and seems like lots going on in everyone’s lives. I did notice Shelia’s comment on how cold it is where she’s at. Seems so strange considering the heat we’re having! Don’t know where my day has gone but it’s about time to figure something for dinner. Maybe a salad since it’s to hot to cook much. Safe cool and hope good health for all.

It only got up to 86 today and was cloudy on and off so can't complain yet..it is supposed to be in the mid 90's over the weekend. I was sorry to see Tina's post about Doc. He was mentioned a lot though over the years Lori was on the forum. I have been feeling so relieved as we finally completed revisions on our wills last week after at least 6 months of trying to get DH to make a couple of decisions. Today I was reading them over and found an error. I hope we don't have to go back and do another maybe they can just make a correction but that is probably wishful thinking. Sue, I'm glad you mentioned aloe plant leaves they are good for a lot of things and we don't have a plant now. I'll have to see if the farmers market have them.

I do remember Lori and Doc from when I first joined the Forum, and how very much I enjoyed reading her posts. She always made me hungry for French Toast!!

I was wondering just the other day what had become of them. So very many now gone from the Forum that used to be here. It makes me sad. I have relied on this Forum so much for reading news and of other's entertaining adventures.

I hope that Velda posts soon. You there, Velda?

So sorry to hear of Docs passing. My condolences to Lori and all of their friends and family.

I was going to post about Dock glad Tina did it first as she was much better than I would have been...
I too meet them in GTNP they both seemed very nice... I always enjoyed her posts as well
I wonder if a lot of people feel that they aren't traveling so don't belong .... so many are missing yet there has to be lots of lurkers as the amount of people that viewed was it Sue's post a few days ago about her porch??? or was it something else but over 4000 had viewed it over a period of time... I truly miss many of the past members will admit a couple not so much but also wonder what has happened to them some I do see on FB but not a whole lot... Velda and Carol need to pop in for a update
went to the nursery spent so much money.... and am worried that I didn't get all that I need for the containers... self says that you don't need to fill them all but recount with but it will be so pretty... I will need to go back as they didn't have the fuchsias I wanted expecting some in tomorrow but I think what I will do is call if they have them have a couple put aside for me and go in on Friday the next two days might be busy and I want to plant the plants tomorrow it's suppose to be warmer hopefully not too hot... it's been cold enough that the doors/windows are all closed!!!! and a threat of frost... so the plants are in the garage hopefully they will be ok and hopefully they will turn out lovely in their containers...
Thank you Sue for mentioning Aloe I'd forgotten about it the one sore is gone and the other is diminishing
they are using something think it's called Medhoney... but I should look for the aloe plant lots of plants just not an Aloe...
still haven't read scriptures after lunch I went to the nursery came home and took a nap so have some reading to do...
Lyn when you get all set up you will have to post pictures... it will b e fun to see them
you all have a great night

I saw on Facebook that Dock had passed. I met them and Spinner one time when they camped near me.

I had a dentist appointment in Lafayette today. It drizzled on me all the way there and back. Guess it could have been worse. We had coastal flood warnings for 2 days that never happened. It looks like most of the rain has headed to Texas. Went by the post office and sat in the car and paid all the bills that came in. Somehow I managed to lose one of my electric bills. I get six because of wells, field pumps, rv shed and house. I should see if I could get the one bill changed to come with the others.

Tomorrow Luna has a vet appointment for her 6 month check up. Guess I will have to give her a bath in the morning.

It always seems to be cold where Sheila is.
