SIL and Garfield are having an early morning conversation. #1 great granddaughter just celebrated her 17th birthday and is looking at colleges. Yesterday had a visit from friend Sue who I worked with 30 years. She retired to Florida and is visiting her daughter who lives 10 minutes away. Small world. Be safe

Good Morning. Here we are, the start of another month. Year is half over  Time just flys any more it seems. May was a busy month for me, with the projects I had going. Winding down on those. Have the last rail top for the step railing on the porch going on today. So with exception of replacing a rail top on a section of the original railing, construction work is done. Just need to paint some areas here and there, but not today, as showers are in forecast later this afternoon. Will work in the planter box so I can get it ready to sell. Friend is camping over at the state park here, so will go pay her a visit. Will be here till the 11th.

The new truck and I are starting to talk to each other finally. Between reading the online owners manual and a stop for some info at the dealers, I am starting to figure out the new technology in this one. Some things are similar to the old one, but just have to go about them differently to get same results. Need to get a new charging cord for my phone as one from last truck will not work in this one. Have the one that came with the phone, but think it’s too short to reach from console to the dash to hook up and don’t want to have to keep taking it back and forth from house to truck etc. Need a new phone too, so not syncing this one to truck. Planning to put the stuff out of last truck into this one today too. Been too busy to bother. And claim is now officially closed with insurance company. My payment has been issued and am just waiting for it to appear in my bank account.

Barbie, glad you will be getting unemployment. Every bit helps. Anita, you are really having a fun trip and spending time with friends. Beth, I like your KOA Camping cabin idea. Have thought that would be an option for me if I were going traveling and they were Along my route. We have mini cabins at a lot of our state parks, but not all allow pets. Martha, glad the storms have missed you of late. I’m too far behind on all the posts on here this week, can’t remember all that’s been going on, but suffice to say that everyone seems to be well and keeping busy. No earth shaking news. By the way, regarding storms. There’s a new warning term being used by the NWS regarding tornadoes. It’s called “Tornado Emergency”. It is only issued in extreme situations where a tornado or tornadoes have been identified as going to cause catastrophic damage. The worst of the worst. I saw it issued last week in KY where three tornadoes were almost following each other a few miles apart. Let’s just say there was nothing left behind but piles of boards and kndling wood in the towns they hit.

So guess I should get my day moving here. Hopevyou all have a great day.

Mornin' Shirl, Sue & all that follow~~~
I did remember Rabbits! I'm on a roll!

Not a whole lot new here. Still in Apache Junction and waiting on home warranty repairs which were delayed for about a month due to them dealing with emergency situations. Now there are having problemsgetting materials since they've changed the exterior wood panels on the outside of their homes. So they are planning on redoing the entire exterior. What a sh _ _ show.

Doubt I'm even getting on the road now for another month. Way to late probably to find some where for 4th of July, but still hoping to get back to IL for August family wedding. Sure do wish the weather would calm down in the Midwest. Way to early for all the tornadoes.

Have a good June ladies.

Good morning. It is kind of cloudy today high so far but should reach 77. Good working weather until the sun comes out. I will be working on the north side of my house (in the shady side) putting finishing touches on my drip system as I see we will be in the 80's by Wednesday and 90 on Friday. So want it to be all finished up. All the drip system parts and tubing in a tub so that is organized. When I am done with the front I can put it all away. Maybe some rain Sun and Mon. Fertilizing the rest of the plants today. Trying to get on a schedule for some of them. Others are just monthly or longer. Tomatoes are heavy feeders so like to get them on a schedule. I even picked 10 small strawberries yesterday. They are still small plants but by next year they should produce bigger berries. Most of my flowers are annuals. I have some leftover perennials in one tub so will just leave them alone. I still have lots of work outside but will reserve that for the cooler mornings. I need to power wash the deck and get it stained again but I have lots of time to do that.
Right now I am just having my second cup of coffee and thinking about some breakfast. I just could not get to sleep last night until about midnight. Not sure why but that is unusual for me. I often wake up super early but never have trouble going to sleep so it will just be an early night for me tonite.
I need to check out the ads as I need a few groceries so will order online and just drive and pick them up. Need to make out my menu for some meals this week. Helps with my shopping list.

Good morning all. I forced myself to stay up until midnight, said rabbits a couple times and went to sleep almost immediately. Lol. I'm about to walk to Ty then will bring him home and walk around to the 4 or so locations I haven't been able to deliver the electric bills to and try once more before returning those to the office. High temp today saying 99, so want to get these done early. Looks like we'll be hitting 100 soon. I hope we keep the cool nights. My windows are still open now as we're up to 72 right now. Good walking temp so best be at it.

Checking in on June 1st. I got tired with all the research working on ancestry. That’s why I gave it all away. Barbie, couple of big news at Women’s Open. Were y able to watch any of it?
Got a birthday party today for 2 yr old GGS. I dislike losing things. I KNOW they are here in the condo. I just cannot find them! A frying pan and my phone!

I still managed to forget Rabbits even with the reminder.

The temperature is only 86 this morning but the humidity must be 100%. I went out with Luna and to feed the cats and had to come in and sit in front of a fan. I don't see any rain on the radar but we have a 60% chance of rain. I haven't been able to get the dirt work done I want to do. I don't want trucks and tractors in my yard with it being so wet.

My two grandmothers were sometimes listed as Minnie but they were both named Martha. I was named after them.

I was up early enough to go to the Festival but decide there wasn't anything there I needed. All I ever buy is food and don't need any jelly. I have a short list and would like to go to the post office. Not too motivated to go to town.

Sue, my car came with an owners manual but anything newer had online manuals. I do not like that at all. If you are on the road and want to look something up you might not be able to. I have Onstar but not sure I'm going to keep paying $30 a month for that. I managed to do something the other day that got my car listed as possibly being stolen. I got an email and had to tell them my car wasn't stolen.

Lyn, I lost my phone the other day and was glad I finally got the house phone fixed so I could call my self.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sirl, I know you had a good visit with your friend yesterday! Sue, enjoy your new truck. Cheryl, your home repairs sound like a fiasco. Karen, like you, I try to get several things done every day to keep our casita & motorhome neat. By 8:00 this morning, I had washed up some dishes and got a load of laundry going and got my music in my 3 ring binder for tomorrows service. Bet when we go to MD in August for 2 weeks, were leaving the motorhome in FL and taking the car. Diesel fuel is expensive and the fuel mileage on the Ford Focus is much better than the motorhome. Lyn, I laughed when you said you lost your frying pan. hopefully you'll find it soon. Marta, its good that you haven't had any of the bad weather that some folks ad.

I ave been lurking and enjoy reading about what all of you are doing. It's warm ere and we were in the 90s almost every day in May and tis was the warmest May for FL on record. I had a dentist appointment in Lakeland, about an hour south of here a couple days ago and stopped for a buffet lunch at a nearby restaurant. That killed most of the day. Tomorrow is Sunday so I'll be busy plus since its the first Sunday of the month, we will attend the potluck after the service. I'm making a large bowl of tuna salad. A few days ago, we were sitting in our pergola, and a wild boar came for a visit. Animal control was no help. he disappeared for a few hours and around dinner time, stopped by again. he wandered into our neighbor's yard, and shot and killed im. I did remember to say rabbits!

I am going to have to get out of bed and open my drapes earlier because yesterday, a neighbor came to my door worried about me. It was noon, and I had actually been awake for a couple of hours, but often I will stay in bed reading and watching TV. It was very nice of them to check on me, but from now on, I will at least open my drapes when I am doing my reading in bed!!!

Still no steps, as they are tied shut so I can drive rig. The mechanic determined I needed a new motor and ordered one from the manufacturer as no one had one locally, so it will be another few days before it arrives. In the meantime, I am coming and going through the driver's door. I also still have to get some part installed that controls hot and cold air coming through dash. It also is on order at a place about 20 miles from here that did my wheel fix a couple of weeks ago. Then, I need to find out if the bank has finally got legal permission from their law staff to transfer the large amount of money in another account to the estate account. I was able to transfer enough money from savings account and the checking account I controlled to pay bills. Next step is to contact investment companies and get that money deposited to estate checking account. I've got forms from one, but need to contact the others to find out the process since money is frozen now.

Amazing how busy you can be when you are retired and have nothing to do!

It is in the mid seventies here today but lots of humidity and very heavy rain again! It stopped long enough for me to go the farmers market around 10:30. Several vendors had left but the ones I had planned to buy from were still there. Sugar Snap Peas were at the top of my list and I bought the last two pints they had. I put most in the freezer and left out what the dogs will eat the next few days. I don't know what it is about peas but the dogs are absolutely mad for them. Pippa bounces up and down by the refrigerator whenever I take them out. I swear she reads my mind and knows what I am doing. I subscribe to Ancestry.com and it is $25.00 a month but I'm tired of doing it and I can't think of anyone left in the family that would be interested in it. I also have several old photos that I am going to take to the Historical Society I belong to in the county where most settled. One side of the family came in a wagon train from down south and both sides were among the earliest people to make homes here. I wish there was some way to save what I have done so far. I haven't been feeling well lately seems as though my energy level comes and goes. Today was really bad. I felt good when I went to the market but crashed when I got home but this afternoon I feel much better. All my lab work was good last month except D so I have started mega dose the doctor prescribed and maybe that will help.
Cheryl I think you have a black could that settles over you when you buy something. I'm so sorry your new place is in limbo and hope you will be able to head east soon. Shirl good to hear from you and that you had a good visit with your friend.

I am done for the day!!! Did my outdoor chores then came in and did some more inside chores, had lunch, went and got some groceries and now time to relax. I think I just might take tomorrow off and be a sloth. I still need to wash my car so we shall see since it is going to rain on Tuesday I am thinking that would be stupid. Might wait until the rain passes it will only be here a couple of days and then sunshine and high 80 temps. I also have to mend some dog toys and replace some squeakers so might do that tomorrow while "slothing".
Made some potato salad and I am going to have a panini hot dog for dinner. That panini maker makes them nice and crispy the way I like them, I dont eat hot dogs very often but once in a while they sound good. It is Heartworm day here today and Bravecto tomorrow. Emma doesnt like the Bravecto so I cut it up and mix it with her food and she eats it all up that way. Well if I give it to her with something she likes that is.
Good to see so many posting today. Love catching up on all the news no matter how trivial or exciting it is all good. Some days are just more exciting than others for all of us I think.

I did make it to the store... that is my big thing for the day ... didn't get everything on the list although lots of other stuff that wasn't on the list  spent a lot of money :o just hope that I have what I need for a few days... didn't need chocolate milk but will probably by Tues so will need to get what I didn't get then... I usually pick up something at the store for supper so I don't have to worry too much about supper while putting stuff away... just got some tv dinners don't think mom overly enjoyed hers saw a recipe from Mediterranean Dish that looked really good will need to get the chicken (thighs I never buy them) but other than that most of the stuff I have it's called Sumac Chicken oh the one thing I may need to figure out is the one machine that mom has but I never used and right now I can't think of what it is shows how often it is on my mind might need to rethink making the recipe
I bought a cooking blender in my party the other day it was 60 % off because of the size of the party .... it will be fun to try now to figure out where to put it... depending upon the length of the cord it may go on the table guess we will see when it comes...
that is too bad Cheryl that it's taking so long to fix the things that shouldn't need to be fixed...
good to hear from you Irmi that would have been scary having a wild boar in your yard... glad the neighbor took care of it but one has to wonder how it was removed...
Sounds like both Karen and Sue are getting work done outside it's finally warming up enought that perhaps next week I can start doing stuff out on the deck planting the containers to do that I need to empty them and then buy new plants
you all have a great day

I said rabbits right after midnight last night just as I stepped on something sharp and said "ouch"! Good thing I got "rabbits" out of my mouth first!

I got a little distracted today. Was planning to do laundry but got sidetracked with a new project. You know, one of those half hour jobs that take 5 hours or more? I decided to rearrange/rebuild my bedroom closet! One side of the closet has two wire shelves that you can hang clothes from, one below the other. I have only been using the lower one for my tops, but the cats like to sleep in there and with all the shedding happening lately, the bottoms of my tops are all full of cat hair! I decided to hang them from the upper shelf but most of my tops are longer than where the lower shelf was so they can't hang all the way down. So then I needed to remove the lower shelf. They are installed with hex screws. I don't have a drill bit for a hex screw so I went to Home Depot and picked one up. Got those removed. Then decided to put that shelf down lower so I could put a few things on it and still have room for the cats to sleep underneath it. Had some issues with getting that done, including measuring wrong a few times! Good thing I didn't decide to be a carpenter for a living! :o Finally got that done and then had to put things back in the closet and reorganize everything. By then it was 6pm!
The cats were so upset about me messing with their hide-away, that they haven't gone near the closet yet, even tonight!

I came up with another project after that  to cover up the gold metal piece around my vanity lights over my dresser. Used contact paper that matches the cabinet doors. The gold really dates everything. It looks much better now.

So, needless to say, the laundry did not get done. I did unload the dishwasher tho. :D Need to get the laundry done tomorrow because I am pretty much out of clean clothes. Also need to post on my community FB page to see if anyone who is still in the park, has a 6 ft ladder I can borrow. I really need to cover up my skylights. I used my temperature gun today on them and they were at 121* (it was 98* outside). Still need to put the UV film on my windows...

Very windy out tonight! Time for bed...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hello, BJ.

I am also a member of Ancestry.com. Like you, I have mostly found out all that I need to know about my family tree, and the $25.00/mo. seems a bit pricy for someone like me that really isn't "into it".

Actually, there is a way to easily download the family tree you have created on Ancestry.com so that it can be saved on your computer for future reference. It is downloaded as a GEDCOM file. Supposedly it is a text-only file, but the only way I have figured out how to open my downloaded file is to upload it again to Ancestry. Which I have done.

But at least one can save the file for the future.

Here are the instructions:
