Beautiful Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Beautiful Thursday

Postby JudyJB » Thu Oct 19, 2023 1:11 pm

The weather today is lovely--temps in mid-70s with a pleasant ocean breeze! And a doe just slowly wandered down the campground road, past about 10 RVs. This is a small oval with only 21 RV sites that are fairly close together for a state park, so it was amazing to see her. Usually, they are in the dunes behind us. And the Atlantic is only a couple of hundred feet away, so no one minds the relatively close sites.

Left foot has been itching me, and just discovered three mosquito bites on the back of my ankle. Those mean little critters prefer to bite the backs of my legs, I assume so I do not discover them until it is too late. Zapped them each twice with my little bug heat gun.

Need to get out and go for a long beachwalk today, maybe to the civil war fort around the corner on the Cumberland Sound. Been too lazy last couple of days I have been here.

Judy, I wish I was camped at the beach instead of just waiting on the guy to fix my bathroom. He came this morning and pulled the toilet. The good news is he says the floor is ok I just need a new toilet. He was suppose to bring one but says the Lowe's here doesn't have the one I want. I find that hard to believe. I should have told him I was going to Lafayette to get one but he's suppose to order one. We are having a lot of mosquitos and I keep forgetting to put on spray when I go out. I really need to remember the spray because there are cases of West Nile in the area.

Sheila, I think the bread you were talking about is croissant. I'm sure I would love them because I like turkey, cream cheese, cranberry sauce and butter. lol You are right that cranberry sauce is easy to make except I can only find cranberries between Thanksgiving and Christmas. I make enough to last all year. My son doesn't like mine, he wants the one in the can.

We must have had a front come thru about noon with a quick shower. It wasn't enough rain to even move the rain gauge. Our temperature is back in the 80's and might be in the 90's this weekend.

Good evening gals!

Yesterday, just before walking out the door for work, my agent called and said he had a woman who wanted to see my place today at 11am. So, after work at 6pm, I came home and started cleaning (what I should have cleaned earlier in the week  ). Got the inside done by 10pm. Got up early this morning and cleaned up the porch and outside, and took the trash to the dumpster.

I left at 10:30am for the craft class. I knew a couple ladies there. We all did the epoxy resin projects. By the time we got done it was too late to try the paint pouring so we might do that next week. It was a fun class. She had epoxy resin that cures in a short time under a UV light, instead of the stuff that takes 24 hours to cure, so we all got our projects done by the end of the class. I made two (most did 2 or 3), one is a reddish-orange plastic dish in the shape of a maple leaf that I put resin in the bottom of with glitter, gold leaf, and then cat paws going across the bottom. It turned out pretty cute! Will make a nice little snack dish for the RV. I also used a mold in the shape of a bear with resin mixed with a cinnamon brown glitter and put two stickers on the bear that look like feathers. I made a mistake with the feathers tho. I put them on first with a small amount of clear resin in the mold and then added a layer of the glitter resin on top. But I didn't let the first layer harden before adding the rest so it all got mixed together and the feathers wanted to float to the surface so I don't know yet if the feathers will show or if they got covered in the front with the glitter (it is upside down until I remove it from the mold.) It is still in the clubhouse curing since we had to clean up right after I made it. Will go check it out in the morning and see how it looks. I hope it turns out.

The showing was a bust. The lady thought the house is too small. I guess she has a handicap of some sort and found it too difficult to maneuver in the small rooms and hallway.

Now that the house is all clean, I don't have as much to do tonight and tomorrow. I have some reading (emails and books) to get caught up on.

There is a very large 5th wheel that pulled in to a lot down the street from me. The renters who usually park there with a class A apparently aren't coming down, are coming later in the season, or renting a space somewhere else in the park. These people are new here or at least new to my neighborhood. Their rig barely fits into that space and they have slide outs on both sides which makes it look even bigger. Always fun to see what rigs come in here each season.

Beth, I found a nice city campground with a lake just south of the Grand Tetons when I was moving out here. It was a nice little place and even had a swimming beach. I don't think I even paid $10 a night there with full hookups.

Judy, didn't you get a gizmo that sucks out the mosquito stuff? If so, have you tried that yet?

Have a good night!

Nothing much to say. I'm at a Harvest Host tonight. Spent a few hours touring it (the Arkansas Air and Military Museum). It was well worth the time. And that's saying a lot because my tooth kept me up most of last night and has been painful all day. I took a pain pill after getting here because I knew I wouldn't be driving for over 12 hours and it's somewhat better now. Hopefully I'll sleep good. It's only a 3 or 4 hour drive to my next stop tomorrow. With my national park pass I get the two nights with water and electric for $16. I only planned to stay 1 night but it's a mandatory two night booking. So I can stay one or two at that price lol And I'll probably stay the two. The only other place I really want to see then will be the Eiffel Tower replica in Paris, Texas. I want my own picture with the Eiffel Tower wearing a cowboy hat. Lol

Barbie, I do have that sucking gismo, but I find it does not work well. In order to suck stuff out, you have to scrape the top off the bite. I am having better success with the BiteAway mini heat gun. Since I posted about the three bites on my left ankle, I have found more on that one and about 5-6 on the right ankle, so I just finished heating each one up. The difficult part is finding the bites that are on the back or part of my ankle I cannot easily see or reach. Also, I am learning that some parts of my body, like the thin skin on my ankles hurts a lot more when I put the heat gun on them. Ouch!! But at least it reduces the itching after a couple of treatments and keeps them from getting really large and sore.

My left wrist is itching, so I am thinking there might be something there, as well. Need to keep doing a body search to catch bites before they get larger. Oh, and I did spray my legs, especially my ankles, before i went out today for my walk. It turned out to be a total of three miles long, so I am really aching now. :o

Good evening, I am late to the game today. Kind of lollygagged around this morning as it was way too foggy and damp to get out in the garden. So got a late start. I wanted to get all the green tomatoes in the garbage before they come in the morning. I took my handyman Steve a large bag of tomatoes and he said he would take my foliage from the tomato plants over to the dumpster. I cant take them over there in my CAR and they cannot be in a plastic bag so I was just going to bag some up each week but he offered so I am happy.
Had leftover chicken, potato, and acorn squash, it was very good. Made a trip to Lowe's to get more weed killer. I will be spraying tomorrow afternoon when the fog is gone. And have two more tomato plants to dismantle. I sure am not planting seven tomato plants next year LOL I only planted this many as the previous years I barely got any and this year a bumper crop....go figure.
Tomorrow morning is laundry and time to clean my bathrooms. I forgot to get light bulbs when I was at Lowe's as each bathroom needs a light bulb. Oh well I might have a few out in the shed, will have to see what kind I need and go from there.
Beth, sorry your tooth is bothering you now. Try some Anbesol worked good for me when I had a toothache. Numbed my tongue also so I didnt like that ha ha
Well time to just relax for the rest of the night. It is already dark out, I hate that about Fall and Winter, the shorter days UGH.

Judy, do you use bug repellant when you go outside? The West Nile virus is really bad all over and many people have died of it this year. Nothing to mess with.

My left knee has been painful today (the one with the torn meniscus) for the first time in quite awhile. I tried to find my knee brace with the hinges on it but can't find it. I think I have a gremlin or ghost around here. I lost my glasses a few weeks ago and still haven't found those either. :? I used another soft brace but just doesn't stabilize my knee as well.

My back is sore tonight too. My sciatica was acting up at the craft class so am not sure what brought that on. I have a heating pad under my back in bed now.

Tomorrow is supposed to get to 106* and then start slowly heading down next week. I am so over this heat.

Kind of feeling down tonight. I feel like I will never sell this house and will be stuck here forever and not be able to travel like I want to. (And also have to keep working forever  ). I feel kind of defeated right now. :(

Oh, Karen, I'm laughing out loud. You used the word lollygagged. A friend posted the following on FB today:
I HATE WHEN PEOPLE ACCUSE ME OF LOLLYGAGGING
WHEN I'M QUITE CLEARLY DILLY DALLYING.

that is funny Beth... not a term that is used often any more... me? I'm just lazy ;) had a phone call from niece asking if I had laundry ready for her to pick up .... well no not yet told her I wanted to give grandma a shower first she was ok with it and came in the afternoon even took the mail to mail for me... now hopefully it will get to the person in a timely manner it's her car insurance... the post office is very low on employee's should have looked at it days ago...usually she will pull out her checkbook and write the checks out on the day she receives the bill not this time it's like she was wondering what that was for as I kept watching her look at it... so wrote out the check and had her sign it... at least they are in the mail box... only goes out once a day and missed that one..so got her showered hair set and checks written then scriptures read and tore out the shrug I wasn't liking it on the ends it's suppose to be a rectangle when finished crocheting then you do some folding and stitching to make the sleeves... it just wasn't very clean on the edges thought I'd added to the row... looks better with the two rows I've put on...
so that was my day not a lot didn't even get dressed put some summer pj's on as I sent my flannels to be washed and I just didn't feel like doing more... tomorrow maybe
evidently from what my sister has said that there is a species of mosquitos coming out of AZ that are supper itchy she says you about want to scratch off your skin... yet out in the desert I've very rarely seen mosquito's
Barbie I can understand your being a bit down...I think it goes with the territory of selling houses... some will like and can't get the loan some will not like it because of lots of reason's but remember it only takes one to like it until that person comes along do what you are doing working resting doing fun things... and also those that will want to buy or can work around that stupid rule are just now coming down... curious what town was that city park in that you mentioned ?
Beth hope all will go better with the tooth until you get to the dentist... you do find good places to stop
Martha that is the name of the roll my issue wasn't knowing what it was was spelling it somewhat correctly... no butter on the sandwich and yes it was yummy even on wheat bread...I can't imagine that anyone would prefer canned over homemade...
you all have a great day
and still no Lyn or Shirl :(

Sheila, it was called Jefferson County Lake & Campground north of Idaho Springs on US-20. I guess it is a county park, not a city park. I think that is where I was staying when I met up with you.

Barbara, according to CDC statistics : 8 out of 10 who get WNV (west Nile virus) , actually have NO symptoms. About 20% get moderate symptoms. 1 in 150 cases become severe. As of 2021 ( latest year for entire year statistics), 165 died. The state with the most cases and likelihood of getting it is Colorado. Overall, the death rate since 1999, of those known to be infected, the death rate is about 4%. So that's 4% of those who get really sick, not 4% of the entire population.
Be safe, be smart, take precautions, but don't live in fear !
