Monday, Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, Monday

Postby BarbaraRose » Mon Oct 09, 2023 10:22 am

Good morning gals!

I posted the other day but went to hit my backspace key and accidentally hit the one above it that turns off my computer! Arrgh!! I do that a lot! I need to find a way to keep from doing that!

Anyways, I worked yesterday with the newer lady who is very slow. It was crazy busy all day! Neither of us got our lunch and I only got to sit down once to relieve my back pain. We had over an hour wait most of the day! I was a basketcase by the end of the day! I did 19 haircuts in 6 hours!!! We really need a third stylist on the weekends now. It will get even busier when the snowbirds get back.

I got home at 5pm, laid down and fell asleep until 11pm. Was up for 2 hours and then fell back to sleep. Woke up at 7:30 this morning. I never did eat anything all day yesterday other than a donut in the morning and some chips I found in the breakroom to keep me going thru the day. Was too tired to eat when I got home.

I cancelled my shot for today, on Friday because I couldn't find a ride. I need to reschedule. My manager said she would take me next time and make sure we both have the day off so she can do that. Kind of glad I am not doing that today considering how tired and wiped out I am.

Have some catching up to do today around here. Laundry, trash, cleaning, etc. I would prefer to just take it easy today tho.

Martha, my heart breaks for you with the loss of Sugar! (((hugs)))

Sheila, you sound so busy lately!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good late afternoon! Martha, so sorry for your loss of Sugar. Always a difficult thing to do and get through.
I imagine you all are getting tired of hearing my woes about Buddy but something good happened earlier today! The trainer we saw last week called me awhile ago and surprise, she just had a cancellation for the end of this week so she can take him on Saturday! My problem was that my vet’s office is closed until Monday so I’ve been searching around to find a vet that can and will do a fecal test this week. Finally after checking with several offices I found one that will do it. Buddy will have to have an exam first which makes sense since they haven’t seen him. So things look like they’re falling into place and my only hope is that he does well and that I don’t undo what they teach him! When I go to pick him up they’ll work with us for at least 2 hours showing me everything they do. Plus I think she said they do videos too which will be helpful! Plus they’re available for help when I need it. I’m just ever so hopeful that this turns things around for Buddy and me.
Velda, hope they are able to figure out why your pressure keeps fluctuating and can take care of it. Sometimes staying healthy isn’t easy! Time to get some dinner for us! Hope you all had or have a good day!

Good afternoon. Well my outside project for today was thwarted by rain. I wanted to seal parts of my awning today BUT cant do it if it is wet. I thought we were not getting any rain until tonight. Oh well it isnt going anywhere so will try again later.
I didnt make my quiche yesterday or my cake so this morning I made my quich and chocolate cherry cake. I wish you could taste more of the cherry. I even put in some cherry extract and maraschino cherries but still didnt help. It is a nice moist chocolate cake tho LOL I like the three ingredient apple spice cake with walnuts, so will make that one next time. I dont make many sweet things but this tasted good today. Will give the neighbors a couple of the mini bundt cakes.
Sharon good luck with the training of you and Buddy. Sounds like a good plan all around. Barbie sure hope you can get you back injection soon, hopefully it will help you. I know those are mixed bag as to whether you get help from it or not. Hope you are in the helpful group. I am feeling sleepy so need to get up and do something productive to wake up.

Good Afternoon all it has been a long day and my head is spinning with too much going on that requires a lot of decisions. We are updating our wills for one thing and found there were things that hadn't been completed with the one we had. I'm pretty annoyed as it is the same firm and the person we were seeing retired and was considered one of the best around. Lots of other online things that have changed that now seem to require more technology skills than I have. I spent an hour with contacting and the finally talking to a person on Amazon because it kept refusing my new credit card that I had updated. The first person I talked to couldn't fix it and said I had to call back aggg but that person fixed it hopefully with like one click. But my sweet neighbor is back home and bringing us pizza for dinner. YAY

Martha I too am so sorry to hear about Sugar. It always hurts but loosing one so fast seems extra hard. I hope you can find another dog you like I know it won't take Sugars place but will demand your attention and love.
Sharon I'm glad to hear they are going to be able to start Buddy's training sooner than they thought!

I think it is happy hour and I definitely need it!

I actually made it to my church bag lunch, ladies get together today! First time in several months! BP still up, but I feel better, and my MRI headache, is mostly gone. It' dropped from 90's past 4/5 days, to just 71°, so far today! Fall is here. I'm searching for my Halloween tshirts I put in a box somewhere.
I have neurosurgeon consult scheduled for 17th. Waiting for call from Nephrologist as my Dr wants a consult on my BP. I'm going to be busy with Drs for near future, hoping one comes up with a reason for my spikes in BP.
Meanwhile Sean, the handyman is here getting lots of little stuff done for me!
Barbie, hope you get injection and that it helps a lot.
Off to a busy week for us all, it appears, between Drs, dog trainers, and jobs,
Velda

Didn't do much today. Yesterday when I went to mow the mower had a flat on a front tire. I couldn't get to the valve stem so decided to take the wheel off. Not a good idea. I managed to put some air in it but then I couldn't get the tire back on. Since the tire was already off I brought it to the shop so they could put a new tire and come put the wheel back on. I was going to the post office and bank but found out today is a holiday.

BJ, I have been going round and round with Amazon and a vendor over a lost package. Supposedly the vendor has filed a claim with Fedex. I contacted Fedex and they say that a label was created for the order but nothing was ever shipped. Grrrrrr

I have managed to lose one of my blood pressure cuffs. I never use it anywhere but sitting at my desk so it should be on my desk. There is one in the motorhome but I keep forgetting to bring it in.

My son has to go to Baton Rouge again tomorrow. He is suppose to let me know in the morning if he wants me to bring him or if he feels up to driving himself.

My boss finally did the schedule including my last days. I expected to be working through next Monday or Tuesday but he has the coming Sunday as my last. And Sunday night he's taking any of us interested to dinner. I said I'd be going. Then I'll have a couple days to get organized. My place is completely disorganized right now. Most will be easy, but I'm going to spend a little time reorganizing a couple cabinets.

Martha, I ordered a pair of glasses for distance only. Expected I'd have them early this week. As of tonight they haven't shipped yet. I really am hoping to have them before my drive as I prefer driving with that prescription over the progressives. But if they aren't here, they send them on to me in Texas.

Velda, hang in their and continue being on your toes watching your doctors. Barbie, I hope you can get the shot soon. And I hope you at least got good tips for all that work. Karen, I ate way too many sweets the few days at my sisters. Yikes.

Karen, I'll bet that some of my frozen tart cherries, defrosted and the extra liquid pressed out, and then chopped into a couple of pieces each would have added flavor to your cake. I might have to experiment, but the problem would be what would I do with a whole cake?? Might have to make half a cake somehow.

I had a senior moment this morning. Went to visit my aunt, and as I was getting out of my vehicle, I noticed a lot of black spots on my lower right leg. I looked at it carefully trying to figure out how I could have gotten so many blackheads so quickly. Then I scratched a couple spots and realized it was paint over-spray from yesterday! Duh.

Aunt is mostly sleeping and not very verbal these days, which is very sad. I sat with her and woke her up long enough for a phone call to her other niece. She smiled and recognized her other niece and the niece's daughter, but kept falling asleep again. Caregiver said it was partly because she had been up all night, but she was almost as sleepy the other two times I visited. Dementia is such a horrible disease.

it's later than normal for me as I wanted to go and crochet and visit some with dd leaving tomorrow clothes are in dryer I was going to load some of the stuff tonight while I had help didn't so tomorrow unless one of the girls is home I will have to manage on my own... not a fun thing you would think it would make me bring less not on your life  went to Costco today spent an arm and a leg one of the things I got is something I hope mom will drink at least some of... suppose to have 30% of your veggies and fruits in a serving so hoping she will drink it and then maybe I won't feel like she isn't getting any nutrients...
started the day off with spilling a glass of water then after I went to Costco I decided to do dishes shouldn't have... loaded the dish washer washed the Roc Crock (PC) saw that I'd missed a spot on the side so reached over to clean it off and guess I moved it just enough it went rolling away off the counter and smashed on the floor what a mess thankfully son in law was home and he cleaned up my mess... so need to buy dd a new Roc Crock good thing she is a dealer so hopefully it won't cost quite as much...sooo upsetting
we went over to Joann's and got yarn I had granddaughter pick out her colors and I got nieces I wanted to try the softer than buttr that lion brand had couldn't find it so went with wool ease 7 skeins wow :o
so on the road tomorrow... going to stop in Idaho Falls for a Walmart run need to go to a grocery store here in the area as I forgot that I was going to get something at the same time I think I could benefit from walking sticks and they are the opposite direction may forgo the garlic butter depends I guess on how long it takes me to load the car. I need to stop at #3's house give her a couple of things... hopefully the weather will be decent going over the pass...
Sharon really glad that you are getting into the training sooner than you expected... and like you said hopefully you don't undo it  I guess consistency is good for all
you all have a good night

Judy this might help you to only make 1/2 cake. I made a whole cake and took 2/3 of it over to my neighbor. I used my mini bundt cake pan, it made 6 but I still had extra so put it in a small cake pan and baked that also. Might freeze that one.

USING 1/2 BOX CAKE
Baking spray
1 3/4 cups cake mix (half of a 15.25- to 18-ounce box)
2/3 cup water
1/4 cup oil
1 large egg
Confectioners' sugar, for dusting or frosting
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Spray an 8-inch square or round cake pan with a nonstick baking spray containing flour.
In a medium bowl, combine the cake mix, water, oil, and egg. Mix until well combined, and then beat for one minute at medium speed.
Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan. Alternatively, this batter makes half a dozen cupcakes.
Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. The cake should also be pulling away from the sides of the pan.
Let the cake cool completely on a wire rack, then dust with confectioners' sugar. Or the icing of your choice.
