Monday morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday morning

For a few more minutes it's morning. Lol Last night work was so busy I was there an extra hour and still left a bit of a mess. I stopped in this morning and apologized to the morning person. But while the kitchen is supposed to close at 6:30 weeknights right now, we don't refuse orders until after that time. I had pizzas and chicken to cook and didn't finish cooking until almost 7:30! Luckily the two young men helping with escorting to sites were willing to help me do lots of things in the store, etc and stayed themselves past their scheduled hours by 1/2 an hour to make sure all the food got delivered. They even helped some with cleaning. They were rock stars last night. Needless to say, I won't be surprised if I get slammed again tonight but I'm going in expecting it to possibly happen.

On another note, I got an email from discover today that they have savings accounts with 4.30% apy. I checked around because the bank my saving is in gets me next to nothing and found another at 4.4%. I already have a couple CDs with them so I moved some of my savings account money there. Who knows how long this percentage will last, but I need to keep some liquid funds (think roof repairs, etc). You might want to look around also.

I am feeling 100% better this morning/afternoon. I got about 11 hours of sleep last night, and really slept in. I still have a slightly red lump on my arm, but it is not very painful. Most importantly, the achyness I felt yesterday only lasted about 12 hours. So now, I am back to normal and have been vaccinated! Yea! Getting this vaccine is important to me because my white blood cells have been sneaking up a bit over the past year, and I do not know the status of my immune system. Keeping up with my vaccines, and even getting an extra original shot, has kept me COVID-free, even though I have been exposed a couple of times.

So, just relaxing today, but tomorrow going to the zoo at a MUCH slower pace than I did with granddaughters in June. Then on Wednesday, will be heading south to Kentucky for another two-day stop on my way to Atlanta and Florida.

Good information on the CDs. I keep nearly all of my savings in my 401K, but I do have a substantial line of credit with my credit union that costs me almost nothing and is there if I need it for emergencies. All I need to do is transfer money to checking online. Also, I can get money out of my 401K within a little over a week because I have signed paperwork that allows the broker to sell stuff with just a phone call.

Beth I do the same and search the best rates for savings and CD's. I have 4 CD's coming due in Oct and Nov. So will start searching best rates to reinvest original amounts. I also have savings with not as good a rate as my CD's but liquid if I need it, like you say repairs or emergencies.

My friend will be here after lunch so have done a load of laundry and the house is presentable. Raining steadily today so hope tomorrow isnt as wet. I am not complaining tho as we need the rain, just the timing is off LOL Laura will be coming to this area to camp in October her last for the year probably, so we decided if the weather is crappy we will just hang out at my house and BBQ, no worries she will only be a few miles away.

Yesterday I went to the monthly Hospice Dinearound and had lunch with 38 people. It gets a little noisy because most are women. lol Brought enough home for supper. I stopped by TJ Maxx and saw a jar of Black Cherry Jam. That's the first I remember seeing but wasn't really looking until Judy posted about hers. It will be a while before I try it because I have an open jar of jelly in the refrigerator.

Another post about credit cards. I keep the credit limit low on one of my credit cards because I use it for gas sometimes. It seems like if you are going to have trouble with one it will be at a gas station. I have to keep telling the other company not to raise my credit limit. Guess they are hoping I will go crazy and start charging a lot.

I need to go to town and cancel the insurance on the golf cart. We have to have insurance on them to bring them to state parks. I brought it to the local park a couple of times. I never got brave enough to haul it very far.

The bank I use the most for checking pays nothing on savings accounts. I have had an account there for about 50 years but they don't care. They made me mad a couple of times so I moved my CD. The faces at the banks change pretty often so that makes me think they are not a good place to work.

Dreary and wet here. Planning to go to watch daughter's soccer team at 5, but I don't plan to stand in the rain. :) Enjoyed the Seahawks game at her house yesterday along with homemade pizza.

I just had CDs mature. Schwab 1 mo. to 1 yr. varies 5.55 to 5.588 right now so not much difference. The credit card talk woke me up. I've been paying a fee for one Chase card, and I was fine with that. However, now that I'm not doing the big travel thing, I think I'll get rid of it as it won't be getting the points. I have enough points to buy a new cell phone so I'm good with that. I bank with Chase and the only branch is on the other side of Wenatchee so need to open with the local bank everyone recommends. Guess I've put it off because all the 'automatic' things have to be changed. I also need to revisit the credit limits.
Good winter project.

That's a sizable group, Martha! Karen, I wish someone would come visit so I'd have to quit putting off some cleaning and organizing. :) Beth, nice that you had helpers pitch in!

I just read that David McCallum died. I've lived him since Man from UNCLE days, and his being in NCIS is one reason I watched it. He seemed like such a genuine person.

Meantime, I got to write today and discovered the person I thought would help at least the first hour or two of my shift, went home almost as soon as she got to work. A couple hours into the shift I knew I didn't want another night like last night so called another worker and she came in and finished the shift with me. We were busy but having two of us made it doable. Tomorrow I'm on my own the first hour but will have someone else the rest of the shift, so that will be even more doable. And we finally got the schedule that starts Thursday. I knew I'd be working Thursday, Friday and Saturday because I asked for Sun- Wed off, so now I know when, etc. I hate getting the schedule this late some weeks.

Sheila will be running late tomorrow, but Linda and I will meet at the agreed upon time and be there when you arrive, Sheila. I wish I had more time, but I have to be back in time for my shift and want time to order and eat, too

Martha, my bad hearing would have major problems in a big group like that. Or if just have to find one person to latch onto. But I totally commend you for all the meet ups you do.

Karen, it's because my bank for my checking and savings account makes me laugh on months when it shows one penny added to the savings account, that when I saw these offering a decent rate on a savings account with easy access, I moved a good portion of the money in that account. Haha, I sound wealthy, but that's far from the truth, however it's ridiculous that it's not earning anything. Now a good portion of it is.

I left my sister in laws home about 11:15 or later should have gone down to the car a bit earlier as I didn't allow enough time to find the restaurant where I was meeting a friend at... finally had to call her and get better directions ... then into Washington for the sterzings and oil not at the same place  didn't go back to Walmart to get the chips so they were a bit more expensive... oh well then on the Sigourney took awhile to find the correct care center then to find the right area can't tell how many alarms I set off  :? but did find my friend who was in a lot better shape than I was expecting ... I could see a difference in her... but she also seemed to know who I was and was aware of things going on not just in her "world" she also has a "baby boy" cute doll but she also focused on it more... she also was under the impression that a friend of ours had died told her no not that I knew of she had liked something of FB lot long ago... so need to call and tell her about my visit...
then on to Des Moines... with the phone talking to me telling me what to do got to Des Moines decided to stop the navigation and put in an actual address and it must have gotten irritated with me as it quit talking it's hard to see where to go and drive when it's on a small screen I went up and down streets I think I got to Des Moines around 6 finally at the motel around 9 was beyond upset... finally stopped and called my niece she sent me an actual address put it in and it just goes to what you find when you put in motels but tried to follow what I could see didn't make it so then I pulled into a grocery parking lot and called my youngest she has a tracker on my phone... so she was able to tell me where I am and then had me keep her on the phone (I wasn't holding it just on speaker and sitting where it would be if maps was actually talking to me) so she was able to tell me where to turn and actually made it here... so glad for that tracker... I turned off the phone and back on hopefully when I go to find Beth and Linda it will be over it's fit and speaking to me if not ...not sure how I will find them...
went to take an aleve need it badly and no cups no kleenix which I have some but no cups???
not sure what is with that went to call and it just rang busy... can't say I'm overly happy with the room... even the bedspread is in bad shape should be thrown out... I may answer the thing that they will send me asking about my stay when it comes and will tell them about it when I check out...
sorry your day was so busy Beth
where my friend and I ate at was so loud it was hard to visit and actually didn't enjoy the food as well as I was expecting perhaps it's just what we ordered... we decided next time we will go to the Amana colony actually saw an Amish person and buggy from the distance the town has both Mennonite and Amish
you all have a great day and hopefully I will make it to Beth and Linda's looking forward to it

I'm sorry to hear David McCallum died. The Man from UNCLE was on when I was in college. We had one TV for the whole floor and it was a fight to get to watch it. I don't remember what was on at the same time but I wanted to watch The Man from UNCLE. It's hard to remember when TV's were so few. Now there's one in almost every room.

I have a hard time understanding people when there are so many talking at our dinners. Some restaurants put us at smaller tables and I like that better than so many at one or two tables.

I went by Walmart and got my flu shot. My arm is a little sore. I ask if they had the new Covid booster yet. They said they wouldn't get it until probably the end of October.

Sheila, glad you finally found your motel. I don't like to use my phone as a GPS. Can't drive and look at it. I really need to get a new GPS because mine is so out of date but still works most of the time.

Almost 1am here. But I was tired when I got home from work and took a 4 hour nap!! :o Maybe it was the new poofy pillow I bought! Was really busy at work for a Monday. Usually we just sit around all day on Mondays. And the snowbirds aren't even back yet.

Got a text from my agent that the couple changed their minds on my place I guess due to finances. They didn't have cash for it and were having trouble getting financing. I told my agent that financing for these places is almost impossible. Most people pay cash. Back to square one... :(

I work tomorrow and then have 3 days off. I think I will go up to Idyllwild for a day or two. Just need a little break from all the house stuff and work. And get a little fresh air (dust-free) and exercise. Maybe a little retail therapy too! :D

I just weighed the cats. Romeow is holding at 13 pounds and Sophie is now up to 9 pounds from 6 when I first got her. She was very thin and scruffy then. She is at a decent weight now for her size and very healthy.
As for me...I am at 150 which I have never weighed that much, even when I was pregnant. Time to knock off the snacks and fatty foods for real now. My shorts are tight on me and I am not sure I can even get into my jeans now. I have been trying more fruits and veggies a little more lately. And chicken too, which I love. It is getting cooler out now so I plan on walking every day around the park here. Summers here are like winters in Minnesota. Can't spend any time outside so I just sit around inside as a couch potato and snack all day.

The ants are gone now, luckily. Don't need to be feeding them too!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
