Thursday, Sept. 14th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thursday, Sept. 14th

Good Afternoon. Guess laziness or busyness is settling in today. My excuse is an appt. this morning and now home. Fixed a salad for lunch and waiting for a tree service guy to come look at a dead tree off the back corner of my garage. Decided I probably should get it gone before mom nature puts it on my garage roof or something. My generator is busy exercising itself at the moment too.

It’s been cloudy and cool here so far. Think the sun is trying to come out. Temp is 57°. Been that way all week so far. That time of year for cloudy days with the colder air coming over those big lakes around us. The NWS just reminded us that we are about 5-6 weeks away from first measurable snow, which is anything over 0.010 inches. But we can get snow anytime in October with average date being the 26th. It’s time to start getting ready. Already did the window thing. Have a mobile service coming one day to service and prep my snowblower and do my lawn tractor as well.

Velda, I posted the storm window project in General Talk.

So this afternoon I’m going out and dump the planter boxes and flower pots, hose out the dirt and let them dry before I put them away. The impatiens are starting to slowly die off with this cooler weather and low 40’s at night. Will Will do the sub entrance flower box too. Want to do a bit of reorganizing in my shed, need a couple plastic storage boxes to put some of my woodcraft stuff in when I’m not using them. So fall chores are starting. Be awhile before I have start on leaves. Did blow off the walking path yesterday though.

Off to work. Have a nice day everyone. Those on the east coast, Stay safe with Lee moving up the coastline.

Good afternoon. Was out working in the yard for a bit until it got too darn hot in the sun. So banished myself inside for the rest of the afternoon. Henry cleaned the kitchen, kitchen dining area, hallway, laundry room and guest bathroom. I gave him the rest of the day off.
I managed to swiffer my floors after he vacuumed, and make lunch. That is all.
Doing a small load of laundry, towels and some whites. Need to get my trash ready to go out to the curb for tomorrow. Also need to pack a few things for my trip up to Laura's. Only a couple of days so I dont really need that much. Going to be 96 today and tomorrow here. Going to be 91 up at Lauras so I guess warm weather clothes will be in order. Except for the morning, those are quite chilly, well in the low 50's.
Time for my afternoon Mocha and will continue to watch Virgin River on Netflix. Pretty easy watching. Season 5 just got released so I am watching it. I am caught up on the Lincoln Lawyer so by the time they release season 3 I will have forgotten what the heck it is about.
I will need to find something else to watch soon.

I planned to go to the quilt store and then shop for produce with maybe a Sling ride first. Then the smoke rolled in! Plus phone calls. Maybe tomorrow because I also realized I can get my second Shingrix shot in time for lazy sports weekend. Found an old will last night that needs to be typed up (original handwriting difficult to read) and have the latest J.D. Robb book so another play day. :)

Karen, enjoy your visit! Sue, I didn't even want to go anywhere in Western Washington when the wind blew - too many falling trees!

Evening All, Apartment Manager just left. Inspection went well. We talked a good while. She took pictures of furniture I don’t want and will post it and those interested will call the office instead of me. Will be great if it works. I thought the statement wall would need to match the color of rest of apartment walls but she said no just paint it white because they repaint for new tenants. Will hate to leave the apartment but not the location or the bird woman lol. Will resume packing tomorrow. So glad hurricane Lee is down to category #1. Be safe

Had my last PT session on my shoulder yesterday, and today had my teeth cleaned. Plus, I ran a bunch of errands, going to post office and picking up some items I want to wrap for Christmas. I also had some books and other things for the kids that I had bought last spring at various places I stopped in my travels. Leaving them at my son's house, all wrapped, means I don't have to mail things or have my son and DIL responsible for wrapping them.

Now, for my lesson-learned for this week. A few days ago, I went to Walmart and bought a few things, but there were no cashiers so I went through the self-serve checkout. It took me a couple of days later to look carefully at the receipt before I entered the info in my spreadsheet I keep on my expenses. The first item was something called "K Express" which cost $59.99. I had no idea what it was, and I knew I had not bought anything that expensive.

So, today, I took the receipt to Walmart with me and asked them to please let me know what it was. The guy at customer service looked it up and said it was a Keurig Express Coffee Maker. Well, I don't even like coffee and was certain I had not bought anything like this. So the customer service guy called in a security person, who looked at my receipt and contacted the store manager, who reviewed the videos of the checkout machine i had used that day. She determined that it was something that the previous user had started to purchase, then had trouble with the machine and took it to another station. Somehow, when I started checking my groceries, it was still on the item list and I got charged for it!!! And the store manager had them refund my $59.99, which was very nice.

In the future, I need to make sure if I do use the self-check machine that the screen is refreshed and no extra items are showing. I was also surprised that they could go back several days and view me and the previous person on video!! I also found out that the first two items I had checked never showed up on my bill. I am always careful to hear the bing sound, so I don't know what happened, but they did not charge me for them.

Leaving Ohio on Monday, so tomorrow is laundry day. Just a short walk to the machines here. Going to be more relaxing than today, since the coffee maker refund took 45 minutes!!
