Tuesday.Sept. 5th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday.Sept. 5th

Postby Colliemom » Tue Sep 05, 2023 9:18 am

Good Mornig. Sunny and 73°. Supposed to be around 90 today with a mix of sun and clouds. Cold front heading in tonight with scattered thunderstorms. Hit 89 yesterday, but humidity was only 41%, so wasn’t bad. Nice breeze. I had windows open all day letting the breeze blow through. Was comfortable. Gets a little stuff in early evening, but then the valley breeze as I call it, cool air currents dropping down into the valley, starts cooling the air down. This is the last day of this hot spell. Tomorrow we drop to 80 and into the 60’s after that.

Killing time here this morning. Did make a quick run to the store for kibble and stopped for breakfast out. Molly has an appt. With a Vet clinic about an hour from here, so leaving in about an hour. Nice day for a drive and some pretty scenery to boot.. Getting her shoulder and left elbow evaluated and hopefully treated to help with the arthritic inflammation. They have a variety of treatments, chiropractic, acupuncture, thermal imaging, minor laser etc. they can use depending on evaluation. My vet has her on meds for that and they have helped a lot, but we figured this is a good option too. She was all for it. We will probably be there a couple hours.

So that’s the happenings for today. Not sure if I’m taking Piper with us or not. Might leave her home rather than handle two dogs over there. Not sure what we will get into.

Anita, have fun in your trip. Shirl, are you starting to go through things and pack away some stuff for your future move? Evie, sorry about your son. Seems a lot of things happening in tbe health dept. n here lately.

Ummmm Sue you have the date right but not the DAY LOL Got up to a chilly 48. But our temps will move up to 79 or so, the sun is out and I love this weather (right now ) Fall is my favorite season, sweatshirt in the morning, short sleeves in the afternoon. Hope you can find some help for Molly.

I slept in this morning until 7am I need to stop that!!!! I prefer getting up around 5:30 or 6 By the time I have coffee and some internet time then breakfast it is 9....no bueno.
I have 2 more windows to wash so think I will do that later today, after it warms up a bit. Will just putter around the house and continue sorting out my papers in the office. I hate paperwork but I do need to be able to find stuff so I better do it. Have some donations to go but not sure I will even leave the driveway.
My neighbor called me late afternoon, his tomato plants were falling over LOL he is pretty unstable, has a walker, so I went over and we managed to stake them up and pick lots of the tomatoes on them LOL this is a bumper crop year for our tomatoes. Seems everyone has lots. I picked a bucket full yesterday and will take them up by the mailbox for those that dont have any. I dont like to see them go to waste. I will can a few quarts of them. I also need to pick my acorn squash and start getting rid of the yellow squash (never planting them again) they are the most prolific squash I have ever had LOL I thought zucchini was bad. A girl can only eat so much squash. One day they are 4 inches long and the next a foot so will plant different things next year.
Anita have a great trip and enjoy the beautiful scenery over there. I dont have any trips planned but might take another run over to the coast before winter. Weather permitting.

Off to start my day and get something done around here.

Haha, I fixed Sue's header to say Tuesday. I was shaking my head thinking I read everything so I'm glad I clicked anyway and came in to check.

I loved getting off work about 7 last night. It was still light enough for a good walk with Ty. And, Karen, I don't mind waking up early because I like an hour or so lying in bed reading on here, etc. But I prefer the extra sleep when I can get it. I struggle to get to sleep at night no matter what time I'm up. That's been the case since I was a baby (my parents called me their night owl. My sister was their early bird. Lol) Hopefully tonight I'll have everything done to be able to be out at 7, too. Then 2 days off.

I've never been to Jersey Mike's and have a coupon (or will when their site quits being overwhelmed) for a free sub, no other purchase necessary. So when I can get the coupon, I'll head to one near here for a sub. It'll be lunch tomorrow or Thursday. Or dinner. Lol

It's been a while since I have posted. Spent the summer going to physical therapy for sciatica treatment. I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease of the lumbar spine which has curtailed my lifestyle. I was unable to do any gardening this summer which is a first for me since I was a young woman. The cortisone injection curtailed the muscle spasms somewhat but didn't bring the relief I expected. Combine the lack of care and the heat and drought and I am ashamed of how our property looks. Not much housework got done either so on the days I can move about better I do some cleaning. No camping trips for us either. I am looking to cooler fall weather where I can be outside and putter away in my gardens.

Changed my bed this morning and towels in bathroom, but noticed my red quilt was full of dust, so made up two more loads of laundry. Luckily, this Ohio state park has a front loader in the nearest restroom, plus a top loader, so towels went into top loader and quilt fit OK into front loader, so no having to go out for laundry. That's four loads in two days, and I am beat. Also did some dusting and putting things away--amazing how fast clutter gets out of control.

Still hot and humid today, so staying in. I have awning out and have a new side awning panel, but need my son's help to put a hook up high on both sides. It needs a hook at the top, but I figure if I get a big hook I can just reach up with my grabber to hook the side curtain, but I need to hook put up in the first place. If sons don't want me climbing high on ladders, they will just have to do things for me, and with my sore left shoulder, it is painful to reach up high anyway.

Tomorrow is more grocery shopping. Got a long list of staples prepared for a Walmart trip. Tomorrow, I have ophthalmologist appt, blood work appt, and physical therapy!

I thought it was Tuesday too Sue :) It rained and cooled off YAY!!! Hopefully it's coming your way Beth.
Shirl loved your reply about me being the food tester for Pippa. Sue you are so lucky to have so many alternative options available for your dogs! The trainer (Nancy) who Emma is with during the day took her to Kentucky to a well know chiropractor who works on horses and dogs. He has accommodations near his practice for the people who come with horses as they travel from all over to see him. Nancy had horses for years and became well acquainted with him. Emma turns 5 this fall and with all the jumping she does in the obedience trails they suggest an adjustment at that age.
I hope you have a great trip Anita. Rita I'm sorry to hear you have so many issues but was happy to see you post.

Another day of rain all around me but none here. New Orleans was flooding yesterday.

I didn't find that my new air conditioner was cooling like I wanted so called them this morning. Of course there was a problem on a holiday weekend. There was a pin hole letting freon out. It's feeling better already.

I have a cattle women meeting tonight. They usually feed us so I'm looking forward to food I didn't have to cook. I need to print the deli menu for the month to see what I will be eating this month. Our meetup group is going to a mexican restaurant tomorrow night. I ate at the restaurant we are going to once and have never been back. I think it's hard to mess up mexican food but they managed it. Mostly going for the company not the food anyway.

I need to start getting ready for my trip next week. The motorhome has to be washed and clothes loaded. They assign pot luck food by last name and I have to bring a salad or vegetable. I usually try to bring something cajun too because there will be people from all over.

Beth, I'm a night owl too. If I'm not careful it will be 3:00 in the morning and then I have to get up at 7 to 8. Makes for a long day. I never have tried Jersey Mike's and there is one in Lafayette. I'm not much on subway either or poboys. Too much bread.

Maybe next year I will try planting some yellow squash. I love it and what they sell in the grocery store is usually too big and tough.

Better get ready to head to town.

I'm so glad that you explained Beth... I looked at the header a couple of times thinking but it's Tuesday ...
it's cool tonight right now according to the computer it's 49 but the way it feels inside the house it's almost sweatshirt weather ... need to get some new ones... my sister gave some of hers to me years ago cause she had out grown them now I've done the same and in one of them worn it out as well or at least the sleeves are getting ratty
did some work on the Swedish Weave today about a 1/4th way across doing the fringe think I have a system worked out hopefully made an appointment for tomorrow for a pedi looking forward to it...
the saga of the scarf continues... I went and looked again left a comment asking how wide it was suppose to be but then as I scrolled down looking at some of the comments I saw were she gave the length of the scarf I'm short by almost 30 inches this one is 45 hers was 72 not counting the fringe no wonder it looked so short and no wonder it looked different than I was looking at I even went and reread the number of chains and even listened to her instructions and it was 116 which is what I put on and still is... I'm bummed about it and thinking it is going to come out again... and will just chain until it's 72 inches.... I do know that I crochet a bit tighter but thought that the 1/2 size larger hook would off set it .... I've even wondered it I could just keep going in width and rename it but it's just too short to be anything else unless a doll blanket and it's too heavy for a child to play with... have I mentioned that I hate tearing out work ????
hard to believe that it's Sept I wish that I was going on the trip a bit later so I'd see the neat colors!!! but I also can't risk weather... my youngest is going to be in SLC in Oct... really want to see her and her family for a bit still not sure if mom will be at brother's for a month or if it will be that she is there for 2 weeks then home then back for a bit which seems to be a lot of traveling for someone... a friend as offered to take her to brother then that way I can go a different route perhaps through Yellowstone not been up there for years... we will see need to pull out the maps and see what I want to do
you all have a great day
going to play a game or two and then go pull out yarn

I opened my windows last night to get some fresh cool air, but all I got was sticky air! So tonight I am leaving the AC running.

Worked for 5 hours today. We have a new stylist who started today. She is close to my age and very nice. I think we will get along well.

Came home and took a short nap and then watched TV. Tomorrow I really need to clean house!! It is a mess around here! :o

I also have my ADHD phone consultation tomorrow at 5pm, so that will be interesting. I have notes I need to get organized for it so I don't forget anything. Organization and memory are not my strong suites!

Sophie is next to me and ready to play! I told her it is bedtime. She is so chatty! She "talks" all the time! And she likes to lick me while I am petting her. Goofy girl!

Rita, sorry to hear about your sciatica and spine issues. Back pain is no joke! I am supposed to get an epidural in my back for my sciatica. I wonder why not a cortisone shot like you had? Cortisone shots are so painful but they have always worked really well for me. The only epidural I had was when I was in labor. They had to give it 3 times to get in the right spot! Felt like 3 horrible bee stings! And with the contractions almost on top of each other, It was not a fun time!

I think my manager and general manager are expecting me to be all better soon and be able to work more hours. Well, I can only work a max of 20 hours per week or I will go over my monthly limit for Social Security and they will deduct that extra amount from my check. So then, I would basically be working those extra hours for free. :o Not gonna happen. I can work three 6 hour days or two 9 hour days (if my pain is under control).

I love butternut squash but I never make it for myself. I tried to once and had a heck of a time cutting the darn thing! I told my dad that I needed to borrow his chain saw to cut it open! My aunt cooked it all the time and never had a problem cutting them open so I am not sure what I was doing wrong. I have tried the precut frozen kind but it gets too watery for me. I like it thick and creamy with lots of butter! :D

Time for lights out...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie to make it easy to cut any type squash put it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, (poke a knife in it in a few places so it doesn't explode,) an if still too hard put it back for a couple of more minutes. It won't be all the way cooked but at least you will be able to cut it without a chain saw :). I scoop out the seeds then fill with butter, brown sugar, pecans and sprinkle just a little cinnamon on top then put in my toaster oven and cook until very tender. You can cover it with a piece of foil for the first part then uncover and finish.

I'm so sorry to hear you are having so much pain Rita. It is so debilitating and so stressful. Are there any massage therapist in your area that deal with sciatica? You might ask around for referrals because not all have training. I didn't have sciatica but another condition that was nerve pain. I took 5,000mg of B12 everyday for several months which really helped. There are two kinds of B12 and you want the Methylcobalmin form. I get it through Amazon but a lot of drug stores carry it. https://www.amazon.com/Solgar-Vitamin-N ... XF6E&psc=1

Rita, I have chronic back issues from a military injury. I have found CBD (made from hemp Not cannubis) is very helpful with my pain. I buy from a company in Colorado who second party tests every batch. Bluebird Botannical has been very reliable in delivery. Currently I take one capsule most mornings and always one at bedtime.
