Monday March 13

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday March 13

Morning All, 39°rainy gloomy day. I used honey as a sweetener in my coffee for many years. The price has increased so decided I would just use sugar. I now have aching stiff hands among other places and wonder if it’s because I stopped honey. Anyhow I would rather spend money on honey than Advil so will see if honey truly helps. Sue, great grand was truly surprised and cried, lots of hugging going on. Rules have changed, she will need to drive 9 months on a learners permit before she can take the driving test. Her parents will keep a log of required driving hours. Just a putzing day at home. I will attempt to change to time in the Subaru or just put black tape on the time display. Be safe

I should’nt do recipes. On reading my post on what I made for supper I completely left out the shrimp! Also, red curry paste, not powder. It was good, but cannot have it too often. I am so pleased with the weight I’ve lost, noodles are not for me.
I like all the suggestions you have received for your travel plans Cheryl.
Katherine, glad to hear your son’s family made it home safely. They sent some firemen from San Diego to Big Bear to help dig out those trapped.

Good morning, It is still cloudy and damp here no sunshine for awhile. It's loud as there is a lawn crew is here doing fall/spring clean up. It's going to cost an arm and a leg. We had a couple doing it for the last few years and they were terrific, but they retired and didn't do the fall clean up. It isn't easy to find individuals so we had to go with a lawn service this time.

Shirl I think the honey does help with several health problems so your hands were probably helped by having it in your coffee. It is also said to be good for seasonal allergies but for that they recommend local honey. I have access to inexpensive honey and if you aren't using local I would be happy to send you some. My niece has bees and her honey was wonderful last year. She lives in MO and also raises lavender and hemp so I think that attributes to the taste. She has turned into a regular farmer, they also have goats and chickens. She only works part time now but she was an architect and a lawyer so I have been surprised at her lifestyle change.

Catherine I am so glad your family was able to get home safe.

Good morning. Raining steadily, a bit of my backyard is now waterfront property LOL but if it quits soon (not likely) it will disappear. Washed down my kitchen cabinets today, they were feeling a tad bit sticky. Then spiffed them with Murphys....smells so good. Henry is hard at work for the living and family room area, hallway and guest bathroom. I am going to clean the bathrooms today and swiffer the floors. Then make my tortellini soup this afternoon. That is all that is on my agenda for today. Going to catch up on a couple of my recorded shows this afternoon. I dont have a need to go out so will just stay home warm and dry. At least our temps have improved. 54/38 today. Thursday we move into the 60's 64/32 Spring is springing here soon. I need a few dry days to get my garden area tilled. Too early here to plant but can prepare the ground.

Afternoon all. Just came back in from taking the dogs for a short walk up the road. We have been having snowflakes and some snow showers all day today. Actually, we had some yesterday too but I isn’t amounting to anything. Temp is currently at 26° with a real feel of 14° and a strong, sharp cold NW wind. We are supposed to have some sunshine by tomorrow afternoon and going into the low 40s for a couple of days before we dive back into the cold again. The rest of March is supposed to be around average to maybe a little below. I know that winter is going to have one last hurrah before it’s over so there will be a big snowstorm someplace along the line. We don’t see Spring per se, until pabout mid May here anyway. That’s not to say that our temperatures don’t start to warm up, but things don’t really start to green up and the trees don’t start to leave out until mid May. There are some years out where there are exceptions.

BJ I find it funny that you’re having yardwork done while I’m sitting here looking at snow. I had mine cleaned up last fall, but there will be the winter debris to pick up once the snow melts. I’m thinking of getting a load of dirt hauled in, to spread out in some places in my yard and see if I can get some grass going. The backyard such as it is, is not that big because butts up against the woods. But it is lumpier than heck. It should’ve been graded smooth when this house was built but apparently it wasn’t. I’m going to leave my yard sit this spring until June. I read something last year about a new way of getting your grass to grow and take hold, called Don’t Mow in May. They say to just leave it alone. And if you get a crop of dandelions to leave them alone too. A lot of people don’t like the dandelions because they consider them weeds, but they actually are beneficial to your lawn because they spread their roots and break up the soil. That helps to aerate the ground. This method is supposed to be very popular in England that I guess it’s spreading into the US too. Somehow, someway, I wound up with some wild daisies coming up not too far away from my flagpole in my yard, so I decided to ring them with some stone, so I don’t mow them. I’m hoping that they’ll come back this year again and I would love it if they would spread.

Has been a busy day here today as I had an eye exam appointment this morning and then I ran a couple of errands and a quick run into Meijer before I headed for home. Didn’t know for sure how it was going to go after I got the eye dilation, , but they only used one drop in each eye, and it didn’t even bother me at all. Once I got home, I had a bite of lunch and then I spent a little bit of time doing some paint, touch up here and there, and took the curtain rod down off of my front window. Ran out a load of laundry and washed the curtains, as I
Want to donate them to Goodwill. Then I took the dogs for a short quick, walk up the road and back and now I need to get in that kitchen and get my supper going. With the DST the day goes by too darn fast. It stays late an hour longer and you don’t realize the time :lol. Have to go back to getting up in the dark again for a little while. It was getting daylight about 6:30 now it’s a bit past 7:30  Can’t do much after dinner this time of year because of weather it’s too cold yet. But if we have a nice evening and it isn’t too cold, we can start going back on our evening dog walks again. All in good time.

Good afternoon,

A dreary day here, too. I slept in again - big time! I do have vegetable lasagna in the crock pot.

BJ, your niece and my Kansas daughter are similar. Daughter was a nurse but now has bee hives in multiple places, goats, chickens, pigs plus dog and cats. Saw the junk man truck here - sad to see them hauling things out from my neighbors' apartment after the Christmas flood. Surprised they are just now doing it. On a happy note, my niece's family is transferring from Hawaii to San Diego (Marines) in a few months!

It got down to 52 last night and is only 69 today. It's suppose to be 45 tonight and then warm up again on Thursday. I forgot to go check the rain gauge so don't know if it rained last night.

I saw a recipe on Facebook for hot dog sauce and I might try to make it. One of the meals at the campout is going to be hot dogs. There are too many recipes on facebook. Sometimes I find the picture that is posted on Facebook doesn't look much like pictures on the recipe. Saturday the noon meal will be cooked by one of the dutch oven cooking groups. There are 8 dutch oven groups that each have a state park that they cook at every month. I need to look around for things to donate to the Sister Corps fundraiser at the campout. The campout is a Sisters on the Fly campout. We will be on a lake so I need to remember my blue bucket(tackle box). I still can't find my GPS. I don't know what I could have done with it.

Good evening gals!

Slept great again last night. Went to our potluck at 11am. Lots of great food there so I ate quite a lot. Then the Park provided our desert, cheesecake! I didn't win anything from the previous weeks tournament (last year I came in 3rd after a playoff). Came home with some cole slaw left over which I will finish off soon! I was talking to a couple of the gals in charge afterward about me (hopefully) not being there to play next year. I told them I would send them photos of me putting in different places I am visiting around the country! They thought that would be a great idea! Could be fun to take pics looking like i am putting, with beautiful backgrounds behind me!

Took a nap later and then got up to go to our Earthquake emergency practice at 4pm. Still very unorganized tho. We had more people show up but just very confusing.

My neighbor across the street has some of my bins and other things I brought over to get "put away" when I needed to stage my place for the new agent. Well, she is heading back to Oregon in a couple weeks so I will need to get my stuff out of her porch and shed before then. My shed is full so it will have to go back in my porch.

I think I will take my place off the market in another month or so and not do anything until fall again. I doubt anything would happen in the summer and I don't want to be moving out and trying to find an RV and get that set up when it is 120* out! Then in the fall, I will list it with my customer who did all that research for me. I think he can certainly do a much better job of getting it sold, than with the agents here who would rather be playing pickleball or laying by the pool, instead of selling houses.

Need to make some phone calls tomorrow. One for the orthopedic office (again! ), and also to Social Security to ask about going back to work for the summer and how that will affect my payments. The first year is different than following years so I need to find out how that works.

Martha, are you allowed to take your dog to the Sisters On The Fly outings? I thought they didn't allow dogs. Maybe they changed that.

Sue, another reason to leave the dandelions alone in the spring is because it is the first flowers available that early in the spring for the bees to get pollen.

That Manuka honey I bought really healed up my stomach issues in a hurry! I will keep that on hand anytime I have more issues! And it was tasty!

I still have a few clocks I need to change. Need to find my folding stool to reach them.

It got really warm today! Mid 80's! No wind at all either until just about an hour or so ago. My house got really warm and stuffy and felt a little humid too. It was 88* in my bedroom! I had a fan going in my bedroom but finally gave in, closed the windows and turned on the AC in there. Now it is comfy cool! Will let the rest of the house cool off tonight with the windows open.

Tomorrow will go to the putting course and see if anyone shows up. Some of us wanted to keep it going for awhile longer just for fun.

Have a nice evening!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Dumped my tanks and went out to White Sands National Park today, but I forgot that it is Spring Break, especially for Texas. I am guessing that maybe half of the people there had TX license plates. And because of no school, there were bit crowds and tons of kids!! Luckily, there was someone in the parking lot directing traffic. In front of the visitor center, there are three long lanes for buses and RVs only, but cars were backed up trying to take them. What most did not realize was that there was a big parking lot in the back and another one over to the side, so lots of parking without blocking RV lanes!

Even the pullover sites and smaller lots near hiking trails were packed, but I wanted to walk on the only boardwalk there, and managed to get in and find a place where I would not get blocked in. Remind me about spring break next year!! My oldest Ohio grandson is at DisneyWorld with his orchestra/band, and the younger girls are with their mother and grandmother on a cruise. i think my son is enjoying being home alone with the dog and cat.

Did some walking and driving around White Sands, then headed back to Alamogordo to drop a letter off at the post office and order a pizza for my dinner. Even a medium pizza will last me several meals. Tomorrow, I will try to replace a couple of outside latches. Tried to replace the latches on a kitchen drawer, but parts that i thought were OK, are really stiff, so got to order replacements from Amazon, which will take a few days.

Barbie, so many women have dogs that the rule of no dogs changed. They leave it up to the host. Dogs aren't allowed at meal gatherings and you should ask if it's alright to bring your dog to someone else's site. I only go to one or two Sister's campouts a year and chose the no fee ones. Some of them are kind of expensive if they plan a lot of activities.

I finally had to turn the heat back on, it was getting cool in here. It has been very windy all day. It rolled up the rubber runners on the carport twice and I had them weighted down.
