Snowy Friday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Snowy Friday Morning

Postby Colliemom » Fri Mar 10, 2023 7:48 am

Good Morning. Snowy morning here at the 45th. Not going to amount to much though. About 1-2 inches. Very fine and wet. Biggest snowfall is to be downstate again. Not complaining as we had 3 beautiful sunny and mild days this week. Typical spring weather. Up and down, warm and cold, snow and rain. I have a bone density scan appt. this afternoon, but snow will be out of here by then. Then will run some errands and head to Friday fish fry at church. Karen, you mentioned fish dinner prices yesterday. That’s about average. We pay $13 at church for ours. It is a money maker for the school’s athletic boosters. Helps pay for the sports program. Most restaurants charge $15-17. Our fish fries are very popular. They are really good. Two weeks ago They served 500 people in three hours.

Shirl, been wanting to remark about your creativeness fixing the chair electrical issue. Like Karen said, we will figure out a way to do the things need doing. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. We didn’t or still do, haul trailers or drive motorhomes and not manage to tackle problems ourselves. As it is sometimes said “I am women, I can do anything”.

Carol, what a trip you are having. Like Judy said, it’s a wonder nothing else came loose. Glad you are fixed and hopefully it’s clear sailing from here on.

Anne, They were talking about the Oroville dam on the CBS news this morning. Sounds like they are going to release more water to keep tbe dam from overflowing. Just increase the level of tbe Feather River more. Doesn’t sound too good.

Nothing overly exciting going on here this week. Did take a ride to Houghton Lake to the craft store that opened up again after having some renovations done. Left a little green down there. Decided that I am going to take the toilet seat back that I bought the other day because I don’t like it. I got a plastic one and that was a mistake. Gonna get a wood one this time. Have had a couple of really nice dog walks. Noticed that they are starting to work on the Goodwill building here that was destroyed by the tornado. They’ve been clearing the site and all the debris that hanging from the steel framework. So I suspect that walls will be going up before too long. This mild winter has really helped the recovery effort here.

So I guess I will go and run the vacuum. Not getting into anything much this morning because I have to leave not long after noon. So I will work on my woodcraft for a little while then take a shower and wash my hair. Have a great day everyone.

More Sue and All, a cloudy 39° this am. Low temps for the next week, hope the tulips and strawberries tolerate it. An uncle told me he would never have thought of a solution I used. I said you have to think like a woman. Lol My first trip and gtg was to Wilmington, NC a Rv Singles group. Was warmly greeted by Sparky and had a marvelous time. Up at 6am to leave for home, no one around. I could not get the red sewer hose disconnected. This newbie was not going to knock on a door for help so used my paring knife to cut it off. Threw the knife away. Glad it was a long hose. Called the waste hose manufacturer and they said spray with pledge furniture polish before connecting. Never a problem after. Lol Yesterday had a grocery pick up, Amazon pick up and visited porch friend. We decided we needed to drink more water and think of running to the bathroom as exercise. Lol What can I say she’s bored too. Be safe

Morning Sue. Not much going on here either. We are in the middle of a rain/snow event. But we wont get any snow on the valley floor here. They got walloped in the passes on I-5 last night and closed the interstate north and south. Also got snow in Redding CA I lived there for 15 years and it only snowed twice. Once was bad tho 18 inches the second time not so much. It got way too hot for me there so moved back to Oregon in 2005. As soon as it gets a little lighter outside I will take a peek at the cameras. Supposed to have atmospheric river storms (predicting 3 of them) coming in which is not good because of flooding. Luckily they arent predicted to be too warm so might inhibit the snow pack melt for a while. I see Anne is keeping a good eye out on the dam levels.

Henry will be on the job this morning at 9. He really does a good job I am impressed with how far they have come with the technology since I bought my first one 5 years ago. Just going to swiffer the floors, took the garbage out already as they come today, and continue cleaning my office. Will need to make a grocery and donation center run this week. Maybe today, we shall see ha ha

Breakfast in a while will be avocado and english muffin, And second cup of coffee. So since it is rainy, damp and windy out guess I will just putter inside.

Good afternoon ladies!

Sue, get the wooden toilet seat! Lol! I'm sure there are fish fries somewhere around here, but from where we live, we have to drive an hour or more to get there. Neither of us like driving after dark, so evening meals are always home. Shirl, you and your porch friend are a riot! If I have nothing to laugh about during the day, your posts have me cackling. Karen, I'm going to have to look for the Henry machines to see if another one needs a new home.

On our way to the lab for a test for Steve, he said that on the way home he was going to stop at a pawn shop where I had been eyeing a beautiful necklace and he bought it for me. I love that man! Happy Hour is this evening and the theme is Mexican. I'm not fond of Mexican food so found a Mexican dessert called Churro Bites, which are made with an Angel Food cake. So I just finished making them. The cake fell after I took it out of the oven but surprisingly it was still fluffy. We both shared a piece and they're quite yummy. If you want a simple dessert recipe, this is it.

Good Morning opps, Afternoon now, It was cold, damp and gloomy here but the sun i out now. I am working on taxes and driving the little dogs crazy from going from one room to the next as I am also washing clothes. They of course need to follow me to be sure I don't sneak out.
Shirl I too can always depend on you for a laugh, this mornings was inspired by your remark 'We decided we needed to drink more water and think of running to the bathroom as exercise." A also like your remark 'you have to think like a woman" so true!
I'm meeting some of my friends this afternoon for our weekly meet and drink GTG. One of the ladies has no family nearby and is having a terrible time coping with her husbands declining health, escalated by the fact that the doctors haven't a clue as to what is wrong. Fortunately one of our group is a social worker who knows what type of help is available, plus she can offer coping suggestions.
I know I'll be complaining of the heat before long but everything is in bloom here and there is frost in the forecast.
Irmi it sounds as though you do have a good husband. I love jewelry but seldom go anywhere to wear it.

Yea me, I turned in my tax papers this morning. I told myself that I couldn't go camping next week if I didn't get them turned in. It has cooled off a little and of course it's suppose to be cooler next week when I'm going camping. I named my Ficus tree Henry after my brother since it came from his funeral. I was going to take it out of the old house but the weather man said there might be a frost next week. I kind of doubt that but I'll wait until I get home to take him out.

Carol, hope you get your damage fixed and make it home without more problems. I know what my motorhome sounds like on the Louisiana roads. You probably need ear plugs. Why do they have so many topes? I have only been in Mexico in a vehicle one time and that was enough. Instead of teaching them how to drive and hiring traffic police I guess they use the topes to slow them down.

I haven't run into any Girl Scouts selling cookies yet. There was something on the news that people are selling one of the new cookies on eBay for $40 a box.

Shirl, I wouldn't have thought about cutting the sewer hose. I carry some slip-joint pliers big enough to fit the sewer hose and I could use them as a weapon. lol

I should have mowed in Maurice yesterday because it rained this morning. I got the yard mowed here on Wednesday.

Bj, I love YouTube, have gotten many hints. I posted my recliner problem solution in case it helps someone. I am a lot older but it might help someone. I try to laugh in pita situations, it doesn’t always work. Lol

Sounds like a great solution! And helps with the sewer smell a little!

Nothing happening here. I didn't check out the yard sales. Just as well. Too tempting to buy stuff I don't need. It was sunny this morning, then got cloudy for awhile, now the sun is trying to come back out. No wind today, so that is good! I can open up the windows again. It is very quiet outside right now. Just hearing birds chirping. For such a huge park and houses so close together and lots of people here out and about, you would think it would be noisy all the time, but it is surprisingly quiet here, especially at night.

Romeow has been a good boy for the last 2 nights! Closing him out of the bedroom the other night must have given him an attitude adjustment! Lol!

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Went out this morning to dump my tanks and run some errands. Had to pick up a prescription and get a birthday gift for my younger son in Ohio. He has everything and if he doesn't have it, he is probably on his way out to buy it because he has enough money to buy whatever he wants, assuming his wife who controls the purse strings lets him. So for the past several years, I am mostly buying his food treats. One year I was in Phoenix and found a store that sold barbecue sauces and meat rubs, so I bought him a bunch of those. Another year I got him some very expensive coffee beans. So, I found out that Alamogordo grows a lot of pistachios, so I hit the two farm stores (aka tourist traps) that sell pistachios. Got him a bag of pistachio carmel corn and several bags of flavored pistachios, like lemon chili, Jalapeno, garlic honey, etc. Then stopped at the post office and shipped it all off to him! Annual birthday problem solved!!

It was really warm today--high of 77!! After so many months of cold and rain, it is nice to be somewhere dry and relatively warm. Even running my AC during the day. Beautiful views from this place, also, because it is on the slope at the base of a line of mountains. I can see White Sands in the distance as a white line, and today the wind was blowing, so it was a white cloud in the distance.

haven't done much the past couple days... there was a funeral at church today so I'd signed up to make potato salad for the luncheon... made that yesterday cooked the potatoes and eggs while they were cooling went to the store.... came home and put the salad together had picked up a couple corn dogs from the deli for supper I made arrangements for someone to pick up the salad wasn't sure if we would go to the funeral but even if we did I would have my tank and mom's walker to worry about he actually had to shovel the walk to get to the house and to shovel off the deck so the door could be opened... so then fixed breakfast while I was getting it ready the phone rang answered it it was the missionaries asking if they could use the snowblower to clean off the drive... so opened the garage door it was pretty deep no wonder they wanted to use the snowblower  looked heavy as well
finally left the bedroom a few hours later did 2 word searches read scriptures a little on FB and finished a book it amazes me how the writers can be in keeping books that go together keep up with what happened in books written years ago.. I'm sure it's a spread sheet or something but it is still amazing that they can get things flowing...
Shirl I saw an ad yesterday that you ought to look into it's for a self-watering eco-stained elevated planter box I didn't read anything about it but thought of you when I saw it...
Irmi that was neat your husband getting you the necklace ..
the brain has gone blank no idea what I was going to say
you all have a good night
