Mid Week Wednesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mid Week Wednesday

Postby Colliemom » Wed Feb 15, 2023 7:08 am

Morning all. Been up since o’dark thirty this morning (5:45). Compliments of doggie potty call. Decided to just stay up. Load of dog bedding in the dryer and breakfast in the tummy. I am just sitting here watching the local morning news. Few rain showers moving around out there this morning. Supposed to be some around for a while today, high around 45. Tomorrow we are going back to winter as it’s supposed to get colder and snow.

Not a whole lot has changed as far as MSU is concerned. Five students are still n critical condition, classes canceled until Monday and all activities are canceled for two days. One of our local news anchor women just graduated from MSU and 2020 and she gave a really compelling, but emotional editorial about her feelings regarding the shooting at MSU. Most of the time all we see are just quick interviews by the reporters to somebody who happens to be there and we just get little snippets of things, but this is a bit different. I posted the link to her video and you might like to listen to it because it does give you a really different perspective. https://www.9and10news.com/2023/02/14/e ... t-is-home/.

Velda, I have been doing some reading both in the newspapers and other sources on the objects that were shot down. I’ve gotten to where I don’t pay a whole lot of attention to a lot of the cable news networks anymore, because they usually don’t get things right or they are giving their opinions on happenings and not always accurate or taken out of context. All of the objects were flying between 40,000 and 20,000 feet with the Chinese balloon being the highest. The other three we’re pretty much around the 20,000 for altitude. They appear to be just going with the winds and not under remote control. In that kind of situation, the altitude is going to vary because of the atmospheric winds. That I know from the NWS office here launching their weather balloons twice a day. Sometimes they get carried high in the atmosphere and other times they don’t. Going to take them a while to find the three objects that were shot down, as all three of them are in very hard to access places. I forgot where they said the one came down in Alaska, but the one in Canada is in a remote area in the Yukon, which is very rugged and hard to get to. The one They shot down over Lake Huron may be in 200 feet of water. The first missile that was shot, missed the target, and that is also down in the water.

I didn’t get a whole lot accomplished with the shadowbox yesterday and I had to go to town to get another piece of lumber, being that I kind of screwed up the first cutting  but I also picked up a couple of other things too and ran a quick errand, got my truck washed and stopped for pizza buffet. Then once I got the box frame assembled, I left it so the glue can dry. Plan to do some more on it today. This is one of those kind of get stuff as I go along projects, because I’m kind of feeling my way through it. Today is “payday”, so I think I might go to town to credit Union, pad my wallet and also pick up some craft wood to make the back of the shadow box.

Beth, sounds like you and Martha are going to have a fun time. Looking forward to reading about your adventures. Barbie, do you have a For Sale sign in front of your place?

I guess I will go and watch the news again a little while and then get my day started. Well, it’s actually started, I guess just need to continue on  Have a great day Patti

Good morning Sue & all that check in,

Sue, like you, I am an early riser. I have my alarm set for 4:45 Monday thru Friday so I can walk with my friend at 7:00. I prefer to shower, blow dry my hair and put on makeup before I leave for the walk, so that's the reason I set the alarm. But 99% of the time, I'm up close to an hour before that, which gives me plenty of time to wake up and putter around in the casita. Tina, how did the puppy party go? Beth & Martha, have fun at the gtg. Those of you still having cold weather, stay warm.

We had a cold front that brought chilly weather on Sunday but yesterday we got into the mid 70's and today could be above 80. Yesterday we started shopping for our anniversary celebration in two Sundays and got lots of things we'll need for that day. Two cases of water, beer, wines, 5 pounds of meatballs, a large pork loin that we'll turn into pulled pork, ten pounds of potatoes, 3 - 18 pack cartons of eggs, a huge can of baked beans, a huge box of elbow macaroni noodles and lots of other things are being stored. Late next week I'll be doing lots of food prepping and Steve will cook a turkey and ham on his Egg. I'm really getting excited about the occasion and wish all of you were closer so you could join us.

Good morning. I have been up since 4:15 I am an early riser also but that is a tad early. I prefer 5am LOL Chilly out this morning 32 Our snow is mostly gone, still have quite a bit in my front yard that doesnt get any sun until the late spring and summer. It will melt in time I hope LOL

Going to shampoo my carpet this morning on half the house, then will do the other half after carpet dries. Henry is off until Saturday ha ha gotta love a man that vacuums.

Just finished breakfast and will be time shortly to get busy. Not sure what dinner will be but I certainly have lots of food in the freezer so easy peasy to zap something in the micro.

Irmi sure wish we were all closer also, sounds like it will be quite the celebration. Martha and Beth off to have a good time. Glad you both got a spot. Sue is busy as usual. I will be busy this morning but after lunch I am so done. I just relax, watch tv or read.

Wow! Raining in MI and snowing in Tucson! Strange weather! :o

I got done with work at 4pm yesterday and it was super windy and raining all afternoon. Had a dust storm earlier before the rain came thru. Just before I got home, my tummy didn't feel too good. Got home and hit the bathroom. I either have food poisoning or just stress-related. Finally took some Pepto and fell asleep. Woke up several times during the night and very restless. Tummy is still a bit queasy this morning.

Yes I do have a For Sale sign in my yard but they are very small and hard to notice (per HOA rules  ). A customer of mine from Sunday, who I talked to about my house issues and is a real estate agent, stopped by work yesterday and dropped off a large envelope. He had driven over to see my house on Monday and printed out several of the listings in my price range in the park. He typed up a letter to me with questions and things that he sees are not right about my listing, etc and suggestions of what should be changed to get more interest. It was a lot of good information and he sounds like he really knows what he is doing. And to do all that work and research on his own (I never asked him to do that) is impressive. He works for ReMax which is a good company. I will call him back today.

I left a message for my agent yesterday morning saying I was unhappy with the lack of progress on my house and would like to get out of my contract with him. About an hour later, while I was at work, I got a message from his female partner who is supposed to be taking over for him next year. Mind you, she has never called me before or come by to see my house, and yet my house listing is on her listing page on our park website. I intended to call her back last night but of course I was busy in the bathroom all night. I will call her back today and see what she wants to talk about. But in my mind, it is too little, too late for either of them.

I mentioned to the GM from work that if I could only do 6 hour days, I would be willing to do 4 days per week. Now she told my manager that I want to do four 9 hour days! He knows better so we talked about it yesterday and agreed that we would stick to 3 days and he would try to get 2 of those days as 6 hours or less.

Have a good day!

It is lovey here today lots of sunshine and it is going to be near seventy! But alas tomorrow brings rain and lower temps.

Irmi your anniversary party sounds like a lot of good food and drinks will be on the menu. I could never cook for that many people so I applaud your talent. Barbie so sorry about your realtor situation. The man from ReMax sounds like he gave you a lot of good information. Hopefully you can get out of the situation you are in now. Take care of yourself and watch where you eat, go inside and look at who is preparing the food. So many fast food places are ran by very young people who have no idea of cleanliness and they also employ street people. At least that's the case in several places here.

Karen I'm glad you are giving Henry a day off and I hope it warms up and the snow is gone soon. Beth and Martha have a great time.

My oldest brother died and there has been all sorts of drama over a surprising very new, very different will as to what kind of service he wanted and where he would be buried. I feel as though I am living in a soap opera.

BJ, I am so sorry about the loss of your brother. Hopefully things will run smoothly.

We got up to 83 today and sat outside and read. There is a spaghetti dinner tonight in the clubhouse. Steve BBQ'd a hamburger for me as I don't eat pasta because of the carbs. So I'll have the spaghetti sauce over my burger.

BJ, so sorry.

Martha and I sat down and went through all the planned activities (they changed times and activities here and there) and decided on the ones we are doing and ones we aren't. I'm glad I decided to bring the car because it makes it so much easier. The RV manager came to our orientation tonight and brought a few different flavors of king cakes (in cup cake form) for all of us. I got a cream cheese one and had a couple bites but saved the rest. It's a sugar overload lol

The weather is going to be cooler, of course lol. But I'll deal with that. So much I'm looking forward to. Everyone I've met has been super nice. We had to stand and give some info. I got applause because I'm a single woman full-time for 28 years. After a couple women were looking for me. Lol We aren't doing the first activity tomorrow so no alarm clock necessary. I have everything marked on the schedule so I should be able to keep things straight. Should lol

Barbie, I'm waiting to hear what this woman has to say. Hopefully it all works in your favor. It was so nice of your customer to put all that together for you. That's what good agents do!

Tina, I got that from Lyn, also. I deleted it.

Judy, I have the square ones. It just means putting one behind each tire. I've considered getting the ones Tina mentioned but already have these and never had a problem even with the duallies. If they only needed one, I'd put two behind each tire to make it longer and easier. Should I purchase any others I'd keep what I have and get done of the longer ones. They're available on Amazon also.

I remember seeing something with Lyn's name attached to it on FB but don't remember what it was... not a friend request though I do remember thinking I thought Lyn wasn't on FB anymore...
Irmi sounds like you will have a great party wish I was able to be there...
you all just get up way to early in fact I think you are up before I've gone to bed at least you on the East Side of the country... I am not an early person when I worked I had to and did but boy that went out the window when I quit working hard to believe that would be almost 17 years ago... I said I retired Larry said I quit I prefer retired
I use wood as well to level it's easier for me where I was there in the desert almost knew what I had to do... even some "level" sites need help
what's been with Shirl? haven't seen her for a couple of days...and missing hear from Anita
Pat in case you see this on the regular Hallmark channel on Sat night is a movie with Valentine Neb in it ... when I mentioned it I forgot that you are in a different state...
went to the post office but that is about it... just wasn't in the mood to do anything so didn't although I did finish the weaving on the Swedish Weave although I am seriously considering adding to the pattern... have just way to much left over material and it would be easy to do still need to decide what to do
Barbi perhaps you need to have a look at your tummy issues might be something going on as it seems like you have a upset tummy a lot... and it could be stress as I bet your stress level is sky high... hopefully you can either get out of the contract or you wanting to be might light a fire so they will start doing something productive...
enjoy your time together Beth and Martha

Well, I talked to Carmen the other agent. Basically, my agent won't let me out of my contract unless I sign with her. I told her how unhappy I have been and some things I expect her to do for me, like rewrite my listing (there's no mention of my 3 season porch, which is a big selling point, and no photos of it either!), new photos, update Zillow, which he never did, get flyers made up to give out, and have an open house. I also told her I only want a 3 month listing agreement. She mentioned that the ones that aren't selling are fixer-uppers. I told her mine is definitely NOT a fixer-upper!! And then she suggested lowering the price! I told her we just lowered it by $9000 and I am not going any lower. (Mine is currently the second lowest in the park! ) So we will see what happens with her.

I didn't have much motivation after that call so just did some reading and then watched TV for awhile. Tomorrow I will do some house cleaning and small projects.

The only good thing right now is my cat! He makes me laugh and makes me play with him! And then we cuddle. :D

I try changing the font size and it won't do it! Sorry if this is too tiny for some of you. Clicking on large doesn't do a thing.

You gals who are experiencing the cold: I thought you'd like to hear that I went out to drive the 30+ miles to my medical procedure yesterday and my windshield was covered with ice! Not frost, mind you - solid ice. I know I must have brought a scraper from the East coast and I'm almost sure there should be one in my RV box, but since I've never needed one before I was too rattled (and too afraid I'd be late) to find it. Looked in my owner's manual and found where the super defroster button was and sat there waiting for a patch of clear glass! Been a lot of years since I had to peer through a circle of ice!

Hope no one plans to visit So. Cal. any time soon, especially if you think beach, sun and surf! It's cold!

Barbie, everyone is right, you shouldn't have to go through so much. I bet your body is rebelling. I hope the new gal actually works for you!
BJ sorry to hear about your brother and all the angst you are experiencing.
Beth and Martha - ENJOY! I sure do miss attending rallies, etc.
Irmi - sounds like so much work, but I wish we could all attend! You'd have to rent a football stadium! Hope you have a ball.
Judy - Levelling is such a hassle - one of the main reasons I stopped RVing. Wish now that I had installed levelers on my rigs. The 3-slide mammoth we had when my husband died had auto levelers and boy did we love that! But back when we didn't have them we, too, used wood. He created a 3-level set for each wheel. We were probably grossly overweight with that rig, but we managed.
