Last Sunday of November

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Last Sunday of November

Postby Colliemom » Sun Nov 27, 2022 10:45 am

Morning everyone. Hard to believe it’s almost the end of November already. Last month of the year approaching this week. Time sure does fly.

Cloudy this morning after yesterdays beautiful 50 degree weather. I guess we are supposed to have a little bit of rain or a mix later this afternoon. And then we have two more nice days coming up. I spent yesterday prepping and setting up the Christmas display at the entrance to our subdivision. A couple of the neighbors came down and changed out the lights they had put up earlier this fall. So now there are new red and white lights to go with the display. Looking very festive.

Sandy, I’m sorry to hear about your fall but like others have said it could have been worse. I’m sure you will be sore for a few days as that is a quite a shock to the body. Take some Acetaminophen. That is a good pain reliever. Beth, I’m sure the owners of the motel will be disappointed because you are not coming back, but they’ve probably been there before. I think it’s time to step back from that zoo. Anita, , that was wonderful about your brothers co-workers giving up their time for him. I too hope the surgery goes well. Barbie, sounds like it’s time to definitely retire and hit the road. Time to leave the drama behind. Shirl, I certainly would be filing a complaint with the management or somebody about your neighbor and the birds. You shouldn’t have to put up with those conditions.

Not getting into too much today as I am not feeling all that peachy. Got a little bit of a sinus headache starting. I think yesterday’s work with the display got me all tired out plus being in the sun in the breeze. So today I am just going to put her around with a little stuff, one of which I need to type out my family medical history to take with me to my appointment tomorrow and I have a couple of little wood Christmas stockings that I am painting to put the last coat of paint on because I’m planning to decorate the front of my garage probably tomorrow.

Speaking of Christmas movies. Hallmark hasn’t really have much of anything spectacular on so far this fall. Maybe they’re waiting to save the best for last. I am I like her of those ones that have plots behind them. I think they got a Spanish romance of lately and one looks just like the other. But there is one I was watching last night that I’m sure that those of you who watch Hallmark would probably really enjoy and it’s called Haul out the Holly. It’s cute and it will definitely give you some laughs. It’s a new one out for this year and it is being repeat it again this afternoon at 4 PM my time. I didn’t get to see the entire thing last night because I was getting so sleepy I couldn’t stay awake, so I intend to watch it the rest of the way today.

So that’s it for me. Hope you all have a wonderful day out there. I’m done with the turkey leftovers, now time to get back to normal. All the sweet stuff is cleaned out of the house. No more. As to green bean casserole, I like them too. We have always followed the recipe on the French’s French fried onion box, I’m not an onion person either. Although I do like Vidalia onions because they are not as strong as the other onions are. But I don’t use onions much.

On Edit: For those of you who like Dolly Parton, she has a new movie “Mountain Magic Christmas” on NBC this coming Thursday, December 1st.

Morning Sue and All, it’s a gloomy rainy day. My kind of day to stir something in a pot, chili or soup. Sue, I did complain to management and they said feeders were allowed. Barbie, hanging plastic isn’t an option. A picture is worth a thousand words. It’s winter I’m not using the balcony so I am not cleaning bird mess either. I am not going to stress anymore over something out of my control. Sue, love your Christmas display. My brother makes fancy walking sticks and my son likes to carve decoys. Sadly my hobby is eating. Lol. Sandi, hope your injures heal quickly. ((Hugs)) Everyone stay safe and warm.

Good morning!

Beautiful sun and snow melting off the roof. Sue, your work looks amazing and I'm sure everyone appreciates it!

We drove through town to see the lights last night on the way to the Reindeer Farm. While the photos Barbie posted are pretty, I wish you could all see it in person. It really is spectacular. Yes, Sheila, you should come! The Reindeer Farm was fun. They have 27 reindeer. The workers were all so friendly! They had lighted trees throughout, a big gift store, hot drinks and people giving information on the reindeer.

This is the link to one of the webcams in town. Lights are on every night. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TmtVbezZaqg

Hope you all have a good day.

I FOUND MY KEYS!!!! Guess where they were? They were in the kitchen drawer where I keep foil, saran wrap, and all the zip lock bags. I lifted up the big roll of large zip locks and the little plastic bag was under it!!

Also, I have been reading posts, but not posting lately because I have been very busy with my aunt being back in the hospital, which means my dealing with a lot of medical people. It is really hard to try to get ahold of them to ask questions because almost none use email, so it is time consuming playing phone tag constantly.

Today I am going to do three loads of laundry and cook some turkey legs. I could not get any turkey thighs so the legs will have to do. I also have some stuffing and cranberry sauce, so tonight will be turkey dinner. I also am planning on putting a layer or polyurethane on the little sign I bought at a craft fair last summer. It is a picture of the Grinch and says "Happy Grinchmas!" I want to put it on my ladder closer to the holidays.

I try very hard to avoid falls, but it is not easy with cords and hoses outside, plus my slightly raised slide in my bedroom. I almost tripped on the cord to my small indoor electric heater the other day, so am trying to keep it put out of the way. I also tend not to pick my feet up enough when I am walking on sidewalks and hazards like you tripped on, Sandi. In the meantime, I keep getting reminders from my doctor to get rid of all throw rugs!! They have no idea of the hazards those of us face outdoors and in--throw rugs are the least of our problems!!

Sue, love your Christmas decorations.

Today it got up to 79 and it was sunny. I went to my hospice meal. When I go to Lafayette I usually go North. Since the place I was going to was by the airport I decided to go East on Hwy 14 and North on Hwy 90. Highway 14 is a nice 4 lane, smooth road. I was wondering why I don't go that way in the motorhome. When I got on Hwy 90 I remembered why I don't take 90 in the motorhome. Every section of the road is a bump. After 20 miles I feel like my teeth will fall out.

Judy, glad you finally found your keys. I lost my coffee cup again yesterday and had been all over the house several times looking for it. I finally found it on one of the cat trees. I'm lucky CC didn't knock it off and it had coffee in it.

Anita, the decorations in the you tube video are beautiful. I have seen the local news showing a place in Lafayette that had put up a lot of decorations and you could drive through. They never said anything about having to pay. Yesterday I saw an ad for it and it's $25 per car and more for commercial vehicles. There are several subdivisions that decorate and you can see them for free.

Shirl, take a picture of the mess the birds are making and send it to the office.

Barbie, I have never tried the onion rings at Burger King. The one in Abbeville seems to have trouble getting workers and it's hit or miss what you are going to get there. I seldom go there. A lot of the Cajun recipes call for the Cajun Holy Trinity, onions, bell pepper and celery. I saute some and put it in a lot of recipes. I'm lazy so use the frozen seasoning blend.

Romeow and CC could have a lot of fun together if they didn't kill each other. CC still has his wild spells. At least he has quit swinging from the curtains. I called him Tarzana. I didn't see Miss Kitty yesterday or today. I would like to know where else she goes. Maybe she has another home.

Sandi, hope you are feeling better from your fall. Thank goodness you didn't break something. It's been about 10 years since I fell and dislocated my shoulder. It didn't bother me much for a long time but it's bothering me a lot now. I sure hope I don't have to have shoulder surgery.

Martha, clearly you lost your cup by doing something I often do. You were walking around carrying your cup with coffee in it and had to put it down somewhere to do something else. Then you got involved in the something else and forgot where you left it. I have done that with my cell phone and had to have someone call me to find it! Once I had to stop a perfect stranger walking by and asked her to call me.

Perfectly reasonable!

Anita, I like some of the movies on most of the channels. And sometimes it's just for the scenery others the plot, etc. Feel good movies are my thing these days. I'm looking forward to seeing the one in Leavenworth but might have to catch it after I'm in Texas as I'll be on the road when it's on.

I did cooking today and will run to the store for a couple items to make one more pressure cooker food with other ingredients I already have. I don't know why I look up recipes because I almost never leave them alone lol. The one tomorrow is a bean and rice soup and I'm going to try to pretty much follow the recipe. Maybe. It'll add another 6 or so freezer meals to add to what I made today. Add that to the pork chops and steaks and fish in my freezer and I'll be pretty full again. I like having my own home made freezer meals and meats/fish available for easy, healthy meals. I'll also defrost my RV freezer tomorrow before moving all this into it. Maybe by tomorrow night I can have the RV fridge and freezer full and the Casita one emptied and already turned off. Hey, I could be already of schedule. Lol I'm not counting on that.

I need to try to trim a couple trees in my lot before I leave. There are never any loppers available to sign out when I've tried but I'll look again tomorrow. I actually was bending branches and using scissors on them the other day, which works on some but I'd like to get some of the bigger ones. We shall see.
