Sunny Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunny Thursday

So nice to wake up to sunshine this morning! Had to get up early to get ready for the painters this morning which is really hard for me! I did that for years and don’t have to do that anymore! And I was never an early bird anyway! So guess for the next few days I will just do little chores round the house and enjoy the sunshine and warmer temps while they are here. It’ll be nice to have a few days of summer! But it sure makes me want to get Lola on the road for a few days! Cheryl, I hope they fix all the problems you’ve had with your camper. And then you can continue with your adventures without worry. Guess I should find some lunch and get something done. I really need to get busy with my part of the painting too! Have a great day and as always stay safe.

Hi O'Sharon and all that check in!

Sharon, I'm so happy for you that the painters are finally getting this work done for you. It's a shame that it is so difficult for people to be in business and ignore those of us who want work done, to not cater to some of the smaller jobs. I'm actually glad we sold our home in MD and our rental so we don't have that headache anymore. Cheryl, it looks like you're getting things taken care of on your travel trailer. Good for you.

The new lawn people that were hired to cut our yards and trim our hedges are falling down on the job. Some of us have not had our hedges trimmed for 15 -20 weeks and some of the hedges are getting way out of control. We have had our yards edged and the grass is being cut but it seems like that can't keep up with the other chores they signed up for. Sorry for the rant.

We met with the couple we followed around the country and went to a winery yesterday for a tour of their facility and a wine tasting. It was a lot of fun and all of us got a bottle of wine of our choice, a wine glass, a wine bottle stopper and a few other things. Our weather is back in the mid to high 80's instead of in the 90's, so it's cooling off hear. I sure hope the gals out west will also be seeing cooler temperatures soon.

Hi ladies~~~

Mid afternoon here in Indiana. The slide is fixed! Woohoo! A bigger job than just realigning a rail. They pulled the slide off and replaced the slide floor. Since the rail was installed to high, the slide wheels were digging ridges into the under side of the slide floor, causing it to jump. A four hour initial fix turned into a 2 day job, but it's working great now and much quieter.

I only had some (3) minor things on my fix list for the rally (check valve and 2 pieces of trim). No big deal since campers are a rolling bucket of bolts, but they fixed so much more at the rally. Recall on propane quick connect replaced. Then Lippert called and there was a recall on my awning. Inspection showed I got a good one so no fix, but I asked the guy a question and 3 Lippert guys worked on the struts so now it's straight and still dumps water if needed. Then they have me 2 brand new struts for on the road if I need them!

The most appreciated fix was a drive-by. I was sitting outside looking thru my owners manual and 2 techs on a golf cart stopped and wanted to know I like the (new model) trailer because they build them. I said I like it except for a cold shower the night before. They hoped of the cart, one guy inside the other guy outside looking at things. Two trips down to the Domenic tent and water heater fixed. Then they came back later and have me 4 thermal fuses 'just in case' I need them!

Say what you will about service, but can't beat Grand Designs customer service. Their mobile tech teams travel the country and help ANY RV if they see trouble. The day after the rally a team spotted an Airstream on I-80 in Illinois that had a blow out and caused some damage. Changed his tire and fixed most of the damage so he could get back on the road. They also are sending teams any where there are going to be RVers. They went to Sturgis this year and helped anyone!

So I'm currently in Monticello Indiana until Monday. Found a new problem with the satellite. Got a new receiver since the old one couldn't be updated anymore and first time I'm using it. I absolutely want to have weather and news. May be a problem with the camper wiring (cable works OK), my money is on the crappy TCL Roku TV. not a fan of TCL. I'll hook it up at some point to the bedroom TV (Insignia) and if it works the TCL will go in the trash like the one in my original camper did.

Otherwise, all is good here. Really it is! :D sunny days this week, then in to the IN and KY border on Monday.

Have a good day however you can. Sorry for being gabby.

Good afternoon. Haven't been on much lately as I just havent felt good. Got my doc to call in a couple more prescriptions for me and I think they are helping. I have just lost so much weight and she is concerned but the last few days I have had an appetite and my breathing is better. I saw her this morning and we did a "walkabout" LOL while wearing the O2 sat monitor, my O2 sat remained acceptable. I think my appetite is encouraged by my corticosteroid inhaler. I dont feel real short of breath today when I do something. I stopped and picked up my groceries after my doc appt, then stopped at Taco Time and got a couple tacos. So I think my appetite is coming back. Have chest xray and labs next week.

Found out today that my sweet little 93 year old neighbor fell and broke her hip the other day. I called her and she didnt call me back like usual so I asked the neighbor and was told what happened. Guess she wont be back, going to assisted living. It is just sad to get old and infirm.

Well, I had a pleasant surprise this morning! I walked outside and it was 80* and NO humidity! It was beautiful! If I didn't have to go to work, I would have taken a walk!

Work was really slow today. In 5 hours, I did 3 haircuts. But I got some reading done.

I got my new microwave delivered from Lowes today. It is to replace the over-the-stove microwave that quit working a couple years ago. Hopefully, I can get Dave to install that and then I can get rid of the other one I have on my counter and free up some counter space.

I got the laundry app installed on my phone again so I can get that taken care of finally (hopefully! ).

I have a whole list of things to do for the rest of today and tomorrow. I better get busy before I lose my motivation!

Karen, glad you are finally starting to feel better and gain your appetite.

Cheryl, sounds like you got a lot of stuff fixed on your camper from lots of helpful people!

Irmi, it is hard to find good help anywhere now days. No one wants to work and if they do, they are "quiet quitting" which is a term I just read about yesterday where employees only do the bare minimum at their jobs and no more. Sounds more like "lazy working".
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Good late afternoon, It's been another beautiful day here but the gloom and doom weather people are saying it's going to be in low to mid 90's for a few days next week.
Irmi, it is a shame they can't get people to do lawn work! Cheryl so good to hear of the positive things Grand Design is doing especially that they help people along the road. Proves there is still good service people around. And that they were so helpful to you going out if their way to help. I read in our paper a local car dealership is having special days for their employees and actually closing occasionally to have special events for the employees and their families. Karen I hope you continue to feel a little better and that your appetite comes back. So sorry about your neighbor. O'Sharon I hope you painters do a good job and it goes quickly, Wish you could get a trip in before winter. Barbie good luck getting your new microwave installed and glad the weather is better.
I still need to brush Pippa, if I don't do it every day she starts to get mats. I'm really ready to head to my chair and watch mindless TV.

Karen, I was so very sorry to read of the terrible time you have been having.

My heart goes out to you, I am sending prayers and best wishes that you are soon on the road to recovery. Thank you so very much for sharing your story (Velda, I thank you too). It reminds me to continue to take precautions as best I can, for as long as I can.

Hope you get well soon.

Really glad you are getting your appetite back, Karen! Hope you can keep at it.

I'm at a hotel tonight near the Atlanta airport because I have an early flight tomorrow morning. Will be back in Eugene to pick up my motorhome by 2 pm, assuming I don't have any more delays. I spent all of yesterday and most of today with my aunt in her memory care facility. I spent a lot of time yesterday trying to distract her from getting upset about her husband being gone by showing her photos of kids and animals, which she enjoys seeing. Had dinner with her last night--food OK, but not fantastic. Then today, I started going through her closets and dresser to sort things out. Caregivers just toss stuff where they can stuff it with the result that no one, including us, can find things, so we get messages she needs more towels, sheets, depends, or whatever. We order it, and then find out she really did not need it. (She has enough towels for a big family!!) So, they had stuffed two drawers in her dresser with sheets and throws while her clothes were stuffed into her closet too tightly. So, I stuck big paper labels on her dresser drawers for things like "Nightgowns only" or "Sweaters only." Then I bought some clear bins and stuffed one full of sheets, labeled it as "Sheets only" and another as "Blankets Only." Put sweaters and nightgowns where they more logically go in the dresser drawers, and found a set of sheets stuffed in her closet we had bought two years ago. Also ran out and got more depends and wipes, only to find two big boxes of them stuffed under stuff in closet! :x Finally, I cut and filed her fingernails, which were getting way too long.

She also has more long pants than she should, so the other POA will tackle those when she gets there next month. Either the extra pants are not hers, or too small, or who knows what???? (She has gained weight from eating better in the last year and also needs bigger sizes because she is wearing depends now.) I tossed out some old and stained shirts and returned some items with someone else's name on them. Anyway, will be glad to get home tomorrow.

Hi Irmi.

Thanks for thinking of us out here! :)

Actually, we have been having some nice temps over the last couple of days - mid 80's is quite the change - and quite refreshing after the spate we had of 110 - 114 barely a week ago.

Feels like Fall!

Speaking of which, we actually have a bit of rain in the forecast for possibly Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A bit surprising - and a bit unusual these days for Mid-September.

We are keeping our fingers crossed, and hoping it arrives as predicted! We will take whatever we can get. :D

It is starting to look pretty good regarding getting a bit of rain - might even be an inch or so, which is pretty significant for this time of year.

Speaking of better temps. This week our 9 am temps have been about 30° lower than 9 am temps just a week ago! That's pretty significant! And much welcomed!
Still hoping rain comes though it could end up mostly west of us over the San Francisco bay area!
