Busy on Wednesdsy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Busy on Wednesdsy

Morning all. Heading toward noon here at the 45th. Mix of sun and clouds, 76°.. Been having some very nice weather with sunshine and upper 70° temperatures. Had a little bit of rain the other day but not really enough to do much, but better than nothing. . Might have some isolated showers today.

I just finished putting up some sweet corn from the Farmers market, in the freezer, to eat over the winter. Bought a dozen ears, blanched them, cut the corn off the cobs and packaged it in individual servings. Was just picked this morning, so you can’t get it any fresher unless you go out and get it yourself. I might pick up a little more. I only have a top freezer refrigerator, so I can’t jam a whole mess of stuff in there. But I can put in quite a bit. Way more than the big bottom freezer refrigerator that was here when I bought this house. Once I get a bag of ice out of there, that will help make room. Saving it for my trip to the UP.

Finished up my new steps to my side door landing, now just have to paint them. Won’t do that until I know that there is no chance of rain. Glad that project is done. I am making some pumpkins from the rest of my wood pallets and have them painted. Need to cut out some leaves for them and I think I am going to put some wording on them. Cutting out the leaves is going to be my next project here in a little while.

Sheila, if that screen that you just put in is a sliding door screen, it’s very possible that the top and bottom rollers may need an adjustment. There are usually little knobs at the top and bottom on them that you can just turn with a screwdriver and it will adjust those rollers, until you get it where you want it. Shirl, you were saying you wanted something to do, well having a mess with the wicks is giving you something to do  Beth, nice pictures of you and Ginger and Judy. Catherine, best of luck on your next round of French lessons. I know I have missed some others of you but I don’t remember all of what’s been going on I’ve been playing catch-up for the last couple two or three days. But it looks like everybody seems to be doing OK.

I am going to go and fix myself some shrimp for lunch and then go and do a little bit of wood craft cutting. I cleaned my shed out the other day and took a pile of scrap wood and the wood from demolishing the old steps out to the recycle place, so now I know what I have in my shed as far as usable wood for whatever. Was starting to get too much little jog.

Sue, thanks for your post.

I have been reading about a "mystery illness" that is killing a lot of dogs there in Michigan - the thinking is that it might be a new kind of Parvo, but they aren't sure.

Have you heard anything about this?

Annie, latest news that has come out is that it is canine Parvo virus. However they said it is not to panic for dog owners, as long as you keep your dogs fully vaccinated as mine are. It seems to be that most of it is in dogs that are two years of age or younger because they have not been fully vaccinated yet. Like the State vet said, a case of just using common sense like keep your dog away from other dogs feces, and maybe not have any dog interaction. But you don’t need to stop going someplace or doing things with your dogs. We will be heading for the UP next month.

My dogs and I are still taking our daily walks but because of where we live, contact with other dogs is not a common thing. We do on occasion come across somebody who might be walking their dog, we stay on one side and they stay on the other. But sometime we can go for days and never see one. So life goes on as normal. They are going through the groomer on Friday but she is making sure that any dogs that she is dong, are fully vaccinated, so I’m not worried about that. There will be no interaction anyway. But thanks for asking. They are doing a Pavo vaccination clinic here today in this county and I guess it was quite a lineup. They will be doing them on Wednesdays, but I don’t know for how long.

Sue, you sure know how to stay busy!

I left for work early today and dropped off the stuff in my car at the thrift store.

Then went to the storage place to lock my unit. There was a lock left for me inside the unit (that I had to buy from them) and since I haven't put anything in it yet, I haven't been there to put the lock on the door. They wanted me to lock it tho, so I went there to do that. Well, the lock is in a plastic package that you need a chainsaw to open :o . So I just took the lock to work with me where I could get it open. Will stop back there after work to put it on.

There are more monsoon storms supposed to pop up later today thru tomorrow. Not holding my breath for rain here but we sure have the humidity again!! Whew! hard to breathe out there and sweat just drips off immediately. This is getting old! The temps have been just hovering around 100* but sure feels a lot hotter!

I got Romeow's drinking fountain delivered this morning so I will get that set up tonight and see how he likes it.

Have a good one!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Didn't do much today. I finally got the stuff that was under the sink out of the floor and back in the cabinet. I tried to get it more organized so I don't buy stuff I already have. It rained all night and all morning. I was watching the flooding in Mississippi and the amount of rain we might get. I had a meetup meal tonight and was afraid there might be street flooding in Lafayette. I didn't see any standing water and the river wasn't even high. The weather people get so excited when there is some bad weather somewhere.

The restaurant we went to is kind of new. The menu was kind of limited and I guess what they think is fancy. They wanted $15 for a glass of wine. Only one person ordered wine and it looked like she got about a half cup in a glass. I had a french dip beef sandwich with fries. The lady that started this meetup group invited me to a lunch on Sunday that is put on by hospice for widows. I'm not sure I can make it to Lafayette by 11:00. I hate to have to set my alarm for something.

Barbie, I know what you mean about needing a chain saw to get into some of the plastic packaging. The Walmart here has the flashlights in a locked case. I don't know how you could steal one because of the giant plastic package they come in.

I don't know what I will do tomorrow except sit around and wait for the plumbers.

even when I do something it doesn't feel like I do anything. probably because I don't... after breakfast I checked my banking oops found out why the one transaction didn't go through...but then put a hold on my account so that I could let them know that yes I knew about the transaction so glad I checked and so glad I decided not to go to the store that would have been embarrassing yes they sent me an email but I am a creature of habit and don't really get on the computer until like 9 at night .... but because I was confused from last night wanted to check my bank account... all fixed the other one has gone through after I went into their email and resubmitted it so now to wait and see if it will make it here in time if not I'm not sure what I will do... it's not that I'm just splurging for new clothes for the cruise but a need for new clothes and using the cruise for an excuse to splurge... :o
I finished a book .... in a book that I read the other day mentioned a lemonaide that the man in the book made so had to try it according to their description not bad other than one of the ingredients I got too much in... I'd make it again with a bit less
worked on my Swedish Weave and the knotting is going well even visited with my friend in WA while doing it... have done more in 2 days than I did in a week on the other end.. we will see how it continues...
thanks Sue for the idea I will mention it to son in law when he is here I'm hoping he will remember the name of that stuff... I did ask my grandson to go to the trailer and find that as well as my swim suit so I can see if I can get into it... guess the swimming pools are enclosed so should be able to enjoy them it's only 19 days away.... :o so need to start a list and get stuff ready
down to 17 or 18 rows on my crocheted afghan I will be glad then I need to get yarn for my next granddaughter... sorta think I will hold back on the boys make to girls that have graduated theirs and then do the boys and so on I have 14 grandkids almost 3 have theirs and have colors for the next one just need to go and get the yarn....
we need to find a place to get a rapid test on Saturday before the cruise need to be able to have the results either printed off or on phone hoping the phone will work so need to go somewhere to get them done in order to get there in time we will have to find someplace on the way and open on Saturday.. what fun that will be thought Friday would work but Canada is requiring a 2 day prior to :?
we had rain today that is good
you all have a good day

It was really hazy with lots of dust in the air, when I left work. I could see storms over the mountains but nothing over the valley.

I went back to the storage place to put on the lock. However, it is a strange type of lock that goes into the door. I could not figure out how it works, so I ended up leaving without getting it attached. The office was closed by then so will have to try again another day. They really need to explain this stuff when people sign up for these units. Good thing I didn't put anything in there yet.

Found out on the news tonight that there were really strong storms that went thru Blythe and Quartzsite earlier tonight and the I-10 got washed out by flash flooding just west of Blythe, so no traffic going east on the I-10 until it gets fixed. That is the main highway from here to the east to Phoenix. I think they are rerouting traffic all the way down to I-8 going thru Yuma from here. That is a long way out of the way.

Right now it is still over 100* with a 76* dewpoint (11pm). More chance of storms tomorrow. I will pretty much be home all day anyways.

At WM here, the WM Greeter also checks receipts of everyone leaving so people just wait for them to check their receipt. Yesterday, a woman handed her receipt to the greeter and just kept going with her full cart out the door. By the time the greeter saw that the receipt was 3 days old, the woman was already gone. After several people have run out the door with large TV's without paying, they now have a WM employee take the TV's out on a cart for anyone buying one. I wonder how much money they are actually losing with the self-checkouts compared to the regular checkout lanes. I am sure people don't scan everything in their carts there. It would be really easy to do. I double check everything to make sure I didn't miss anything, especially if there are larger things that I am leaving in the cart and not bagging.

I am learning that Romeow doesn't like soft things to lay on/in. He likes hard surfaces, like tables, laying on my laptop (when it is closed), laying on books, etc. I think he gets warm easily. He also likes to lay in the bathtub. Saves me buying beds for him! Lola loved beds or anything soft. I could lay a towel down anywhere and she would be right on it.

Good night!
