Friday June 17

Morning All, weather has formed a pattern, hot, humid and pm t-storm. Have been sticking close to home because of the humidity and gas prices. Sue, I keep my cell in the bedroom on stormy nights too. Pretty boring here so not feeling too chatty. Be safe

Where is everybody?? I know it is at least five hours earlier than my time, so wake up!! And need reports on the couple of you who are sick.

Sun poked its head out this morning, but then it started raining, and then the sun again. Crazy weather. And after about 1 pm, the wind picked up to 35-41 MPH while I was on my way to see the Stones of Stenness. I did not stay long because even the sheep in the field were laying down to get out of the wind. BBC calls this a gentle breeze, but I had trouble even standing up! And tomorrow, winds are expected to be in 30s, but gusting to 50 MPH, so I am going to the museum in Kirkwall.

Had a lot of trouble finding food last night because i did not realize you needed a reservation almost everywhere, so I had lunch today at a really nice little bakery cafe in Stromness. Really nice bread and good sandwich, so when I saw them bring out huge crab salad sandwiches for their takeout case, I grabbed one for dinner. Also stopped at the grocery store to pick up some fruit and snacks, so I can at least pretend to eat a healthy meal. Amazingly, this B&B's owner has an ice maker in her refrigerator, so she offered me ice last night, I took advantage of it. Made some strong tea and let it cool overnight and then added sugar and lemon today, and got another bag of ice from her so I could have my beloved iced tea!!

Oh, and I have a room near Stromness, which is the major ferry port, but on a hill. I have two windows in my room on the second floor, and from the big one, I can sit in bed and watch the ferries come in and out, and have a terrific view of the town and the mountains in the distance.

By the way, the Brits and Scots call every motorhome a Winnebago. The ones I talked to did not know that there were other brands!

Slow days on here!

I was taking trash out yesterday and was to continue walk to the store, but it was so nice out I got the Sling out. No rain predicted for 4 hours - not sure what those little drops were coming out of the sky. Drove into the canyon, pulled over by the river and ended up visiting with a couple from Louisiana beside the road. I miss those 'RV park' type visits. Rain didn't come until later in the evening and it smelled so good! When I went to the garage I punched in the code to open the door, nothing! On my way back to apartment, I realized I had entered numbers in wrong order. Duh! Got in the Sling, turned the key, pushed the start button and nothing although lights, etc. were on. Realized I was pushing on the brake instead of the clutch! Guess it's been awhile. :)

Would love to see more sun and get warm! Sorry for those in extreme heat. Cloudy and I could sit all day, but I have 3 pairs of new pants to hem for the trip.

Judy, such beautiful scenery! Hope those under the weather are feeling better!

Good, late morning gals :D

Just got up and dressed. I need to take a shower and wash my hair but will do it later when I feel a little perkier. I want to try to get a few things done around here today and move myself around a little more. Need to take out the trash and pick up my mail and clean the little fishy tank and get the bigger one set up since I finally got the gravel I ordered.

Still very congested and feeling tired. Been blowing out my sinuses, which I think are getting infected. I postponed my dr appointment today until July 6th.

Not much else going on here. I haven't been outside but I imagine it is hot...just checked my phone. It is 95* going to 102* later today. Also a wind advisory  .

Have a good day and stay cool and/or dry!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It's very, very windy here today also. It puts us at a very high fire risk. I made water for the hummingbird feeder abs while putting it back up the wind caught it and I have sugar water on my leg. I expected Ty to be licking my leg but he wasn't interested. The past hour I've been trying to override something on the computer for a guests reservation. It's something I need to do for a reservation but simply isn't working. I'm frustrated.

have decided that I am tired... it could be because I didn't sleep well due to the room being really hot then getting up early for me resulting in just under 6 hours of sleep... or it could be more walking than normal being out in the hot won't say sun as there is quite an inversion due in part to a fire 20 miles west of SLC or so or it could be an accumulation of all the above.. could have gone to sleep while sitting in the sun...
after my dd picked me up from the church we went back to her house and she had put up a new swimming pool for the kids to play in so we sat in the shade and visited while the kids played in the pool but it wasn't warmed up very well so although they had fun they did a lot of shivering ...
the funeral was really sweet... such kind words were said for and about my cousin... went to the cemetery but boy do my knees regret it... it was a up hill down hill un-level ground very hard to get around on... will need to take my Alieve tonight.... it's always hard when in different circumstances and not in the same routine .... that and I really don't like the water here... was disappointed in the flower arrangement that we sent looked nothing like the picture... I think that they transposed some numbers... but looking at the receipt it doesn't give the number that I ordered so how do I grumble???? cause I really want to...
haven't been able to drink enough today as it was so hot... when dd picked me up she asked what I wanted to do I said get some ice water!!! so went to Starbucks I really keep them in business.... free ice water and occasionally a lemon loaves... then at dd's house I drank a can of sparkling water and brought one back with me...
tomorrow night going to a recital for one of my granddaughters... she plays the flute and I think for a 8 year old and some of that learning to play was over zoom that she does really well
think I will close play a game or more then go to bed haven't read scriptures yet so need to at least read something...
Barbi perhaps you shouldn't have cancelled your appointment... sinus infections heal quicker with antibodies
you all have a great night
