Good Morning,Sunday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning,Sunday!

Postby JudyJB » Sun Jun 05, 2022 6:13 am

Last day of all the Jubilee Celebrations. This will mean a lot of the British tourists with families will be headed home today, especially since the entire south half of English will be having rain today--no more sunny days until maybe Tuesday. I am not sure what I want to do today. I had such a lovely drive in the moors yesterday, and the nearest real village (meaning it has stores) has the main road closed again today, so no wandering around there for shopping. Also, a lot of stores will be closed today because of it being Sunday, anyway.

I have been thinking of the things I did wrong this trip and what I did right, so I am going to post some travel tips in the General Forum.

And I have LOVED the stories about men trying to convince women they are not capable of things, and then women showing them better. One thing I am really trying to control as I get older, is my tendency to point out that babies and little girls are "cute" or "pretty." Instead, I want to remember to point out that they are smart or clever or resourceful or something similar. MUCH better for them to think of themselves as those things as they grow up.

Morning Judy and All, another beautiful day on Maryland’s eastern shore. Again no plans but will make jambalaya in the slow cooker. Judy, love traveling with you and so does my friend Edith. Gives the two of us something to talk about instead of the weather and arthritis. Lol traffic yesterday was unbelievable light I guess it is the gas prices. It always gets bad after school is over for the summer. Another memory, I started a new job, working with a super intelligent young man who was abrasive and all business. One day he gave me directions and I ask “why”. His look said how dare you question me. I said “John, how will I learn If I never ask why”. It was the beginning of a beautiful friendship. I took that experience in future interaction even if sometimes people were dumber than a hard crab. Now I will go back to to thinking, remembering and pondering. Lol Be safe.

It is still morning and I have walked Pippa chatted with a neighbor and took her for a short drive while it is still cool. Little by little this little one is going to be socialized, I hope! Decided I needed something else to eat so I just had a bit of strawberry rhubarb pie with a little Haagen Dazs vanilla bean ice cream. I usually buy a small pie from the Amish bakers who are at the Farmers Market every Saturday. They make really good pie crust.

I grew up not realizing girls had different rules. My older brother was a bit of a mama's boy as the saying went and I was the one out fighting, digging in the dirt, playing in the mud and almost setting the garage on fire when I tried to fire the clay pot I had painted with house paint. I can still see my Daddy breaking my much loved BB gun over his knee as he found out I had participated in a 'BB gun war'. At some point though I lost my inclination for being outdoors. I learned to drive a stick shift because that was what was available.

I tend to wonder about how different life is now. Girls and boys seem to socialize together more as a group now, including sleep overs and they don't date as much and becoming more androgynous I've been seeing articles like this one https://thehill.com/opinion/finance/567 ... n-america/ saying marriage in America has unquestionably declined over the recent past and is now at historic low levels for the country. So men ignoring women's opinions is waning, especially in the younger generations.

Judy are there many local pubs anymore? I noticed fewer when I was in Ireland last but most still had really good food and Guinness!! I think I enjoyed the food as much as anything while I was there. Especially homemade scones, brown bread and fresh sea food.

I hope we all find something enjoyable to do today.

Slept good last night even after taking a 3 hour nap after work.

When I got up and walked in the kitchen, I looked out the window and noticed my shed door was open. :o I went out there and noticed the handle was loose and the screws that hold it on were missing. I checked inside and didn't notice anything missing, altho there really isn't anything in there that is worth much. Most of my tools are in my porch which is locked at night. So I don't know if someone got in there overnight or if the high winds just ripped it open. The handle is old and rusty so it is possible the screws just came out from the pressure, but I also have another piece that holds the door closed where a lock would be put on and that was open. I know we occasionally have kids that come in at night (over the wall) and break into sheds, etc. especially in the summers when there are a lot less people around here. I do have a motion sensor light on the shed and my neighbors motion sensor light shines on my shed and deck too, but I guess that just helps the thieves see better! I will report this to security so they can keep a better eye out for anyone sneaking in at night. They have talked about raising the wall another two feet (it is 6 feet now). I sometimes forget to lock my car at night, so I better make sure I remember to do that every night now.

Lola is anxious for her breakfast. I mixed in some shredded chicken last night with her dinner and that was a big hit so she is begging for more.

Will get some laundry done today and work on (and hopefully finish) the cat thunder gourd. I am doing haircuts on Dave & Debbie on Tuesday morning so I want to bring it over for her then. They are leaving on their 2 month summer vacation at the end of the week so I want her to have it before then. I am hoping she really likes it. When ever she is here she always shakes the one I have on the deck to make it sound like thunder.

Enjoy your day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Hi ladies~~~

Judy that's a cute cottage. And downtime is good too. It's been a whirlwind for you. Lyn I'm surprised Val hasn't commented on Millie.

My last night here in NY state in the Hudson River Valley. Poor Punkin has been stuck in the camper while I've been sightseeing, so today was a grocery run and fill-up to head into CT tomorrow. Peggy and I have l plans to GTG Tuesday. Yippee! Haven't seen her since GA when Covid first hit.

The sightseeing here was better than expected, history wise, but I'm sure not getting any hiking in. I've visited the Vanderbilt mansion, West Point, Eleanor Roosevelt's cottage Val-Kill, the FDR estate, but time ran out for his library. I've learned, or re-learned a bunch. :?

That's it from me. Enjoy your day!

Cheryl, I'm enjoying your pictures on Facebook and history lessons.

I didn't do much today. It clouded up and looked like rain again so I mowed the side yard. We were under a severe watch for a while but it never did rain here.

Barbie, the RV shop said my air conditioner was good and that the main breaker was weak. They changed the breaker and put a vent panel in the compartment where the electrical is because they thought it was too hot in there. I guess I won't know if that was the problem until I camp somewhere. I don't have a problem running the air conditioner at home because there is plenty of electricity. At campgrounds with everyone running air conditioners you don't always get enough electricity. Hope you didn't have someone break into your shed. I don't lock my car at home. If there is anything worth stealing I bring it in. If they want to steal a bag of cat food have at it. We use to leave the keys in the old farm truck. I would rather someone steal the truck than come in looking for the keys.

I had thought about going to the lake but gas to go there would be $150. I think I'll wait until I can go for more than a couple of days.

I had a post almost done and then I hit something wrong and actually closed out the whole website! :o

I talked to security about my shed and did a walk around to check the neighbors places. Found one small plastic storage bin on someone's property that was propped open. I contacted the owners (snowbirds) and let them know. Security came by my place and I showed them the door handle. After much discussion on our FB page, the conclusion (from security) is that the wind caused it! :o Seriously? How is wind able to remove 2 screws and pull apart a handle on a shed? I had the flap for the lock closed too and that was open and it can stick sometimes and takes a little wiggling to open it, even tho there is no lock on it, so that was not opened by the wind, especially since the wind comes from the north and my door opens to the south going the same direction as the wind. I guess security just doesn't want to look like they aren't doing their job.

Well, I got the cat thunder gourd done today! It actually sounds better than mine that I made in the class! I brought it over tonight to give to Debbie. She loves it!

OMG! I just remembered that I picked up some tacos from Taco Bell over an hour ago and forgot them in the car! :o  Just ate them now and they were a bit soggy but still not too bad. I had to sit for almost 10 minutes in the drive-thru behind a woman waiting for her order! I was about to get out and go ask her how many damn tacos did she order?? :o

Just glad I got a few things taken care of today. Didn't get to laundry but can do that on Tuesday.
