Sunshine Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Monday

Morning everyone. Beautiful morning here in northern Michigan. Temps heading into the 50’s and up ward as the week progresses. Birds are chirping and everybody’s been out enjoying spring after the long winter. Snow isn’t off the table though as may have some snow showers on Friday, but it is a form of moisture to get things growing. Sap is running in the trees and Maple syrup season is n full swing. Was talking with some people on our walk yesterday who had a big pot of sap boiling down to syrup outside their garage. I love the smell of boiling maple sap gradually turning to syrup or sugar if you let it boil to hardness. The pure stuff beats tge store stuff anyway and is more healthy. I miss the days when my parents and I used to help friends in their “sugar bush” in the spring. Gathering sap, watching it boil, eating a bowl of bean soup cooked over the fire and enjoying a spring day and later having fresh maple syrup over pancakes was hard to beat. Planning on taking run out to a Maple farm to get some and some maple candy as well.

My fence project is done and I’m starting to clean up the newly fenced in area. Have to wait a bit for things to dry out and ground to finish thawing before I can do some things, but it’s a start. Got some nice wood fence posts that I can decorate now too. So I see more wood craft projects in my future :D Dogs and I are enjoying some nice long walks again and I think it’s time for a first walk in the woods this week. Still some snow patches out there, but nothing we can’t handle.

But first need to get dressed and get moving here. Have an audiology appt. for hearing aid checkup and then off to get my second Covid booster shot and pick up some things while I am in town.

Sue, you are busy as usual. I need to get moving instead of drinking coffee. Sugar has an appointment at 11:00. I need to make an appointment to get the motorhome serviced but have to unload it first and see what it needs at 60,000 miles. Will probably not get it in until next week because I'm sure the shop will be closed Friday and I don't want to leave it over the weekend. I'm afraid to see what my taxes are going to be.

It's already 74 and breezy. Probably headed into very windy. Yesterday it was North winds, today it's South winds.

Morning Sue and All, 51°and sunny. Yesterday tried to turn on gas burner for breakfast and it wouldn’t light. Call after hours maintenance number to report. Was told fire department on site investigating a report of gas odor. An hour later maintenance stopped to check that my stove was back in working order. I’m impressed with the maintenance staff at this complex. Frost warning last night so covered the balcony crops. Container garden has advantages, fits under a sheet. No special plans for the day just household chores. Think a burger and Brussels sprouts in the air fryer for dinner. Be safe

At 09 it's damp out and only 48° here! Big change from few days ago. I'm going to snuggle a bit longer, after feeding Mandy, and get some reading done before heading to Curves. I need one more number for taxes, and my credit union online stuff is down until tomorrow, with a big software and computer upgrade. To me, it's a pain in the brain, because it brings new account numbers to all accounts. Like 16 digit long account numbers to replace the one I've had memorized since 1985! No more easy answer if you call them and they ask what is your account number! I know it's for security, but I don't have to like it! Will enjoy the dark cool winter like weather as long as it lasts. Have a good day everyone.

It started out here sunny and warm this morning but that is slowing turning to clouds and cooler. I guess big storms may be on the way but then it could also go back to sunshine this weather is so unpredictable especially this time of year.
Velda, I understand your being annoyed with your credit union. Ours did a similar change last fall and everyone had to sigh up all over!! It was a mess and the system is of course much more difficult. You were lucky you were able to talk to a person! While the transition was going on last fall it was such a mess I was on the phone almost everyday with the VP of accounts trying to get mine to work. I think I mentioned it at the time that I finally told him my DH wanted to know if we should invite him for Christmas dinner! He really shouldn't have been trying to help because finally he went to the actual tech department with the issue and it took them a week to figure it out! I ordered checks the other day and wonder if/when I will get them, the girl I spoke with didn't understand much English and wanted to know if I had ordered checks before. I had already told her the new checks should start with 6801!
Martha I hope you have better luck with your appointment, DH wrote down on the calendar he had an appointment at 11:40 today and the actual time was 10:40. I should have known to check it he has never been good with time.
Shirlv it is a good thing to have a competent maintenance staff. I have to take care of getting all the maintenance taken care here. I keep saying I need to find out where our gas shut off is, I think I know all the other things like shutting off main water line and the electric.
Sue if you have contact information for buying maple syrup I would love to have it. They make some here but I've never found any that was very good. I had my first booster in November and debating when I will get the second.

Beth, you mentioned designating a "Healthy Eating for Life" conversation thread but I am guessing that it might need an administrator to create such a thread. Don't really know what to call it, since most of us are old enough to have acknowledged that short term "dieting" doesn't do much in the long term regarding health. I did find much of the information shared recently interesting and appreciated the research based references, etc. As in most things individual bodies respond in unique ways to different things....whether it is Keto, Vegetarian, Mediterranean, Gluten Free, everything in moderation .... many of us still are working out what our bodies respond to best. Thanks, I look forward to stopping by for further sharing of information and personal experiences.

I am on my lunch break at work. The wind picked up last night and was blowing hard all night. We are currently under a high wind warning until tomorrow morning. Winds will gradually get stronger thru the evening and overnight with gusts up to 80 mph! :o this morning I found my strawberry plant laying on the ground after being blown off the patio table. I moved it and the tomato plants under the carport out of the wind until things calm down again. The only good thing is the temperature has dropped into the 70s for a few days.

Back to work...

No sunshine here in southern Ohio! At least, not more than half an hour. It rained most of the morning and then stopped for a couple of hours, but now started again with drizzle and clouds. Supposed to be sunny tomorrow afternoon, however. I slept in because it was so warm in bed, and then did some reading in bed--love my new bed and down comforter!

After I did get up, I started to tear my place apart and organize things. All the plastic containers in my one cabinet were all over the place, and the water and beverage bottles I use instead of glasses were all laying on their sides. Plus, I got into my under-bed storage and pulled out the things I had bought my son for his birthday and the stuff for goodie Easter bags I got for my three grandchildren I will see on Thursday. Of course, while I was there, I organized some of the other stuff. Serves me right for just tossing so much stuff under there when I was in Florida and traveling!

I backed up my new computer last night and am planning on cleaning the disk of my old one tonight. Also dug my printer out and need to print stuff for my upcoming trip. Anyway, good to be settled in a boring place for a while to catch up on stuff.

Tina, anyone can start a thread. But if you think you'd like a room where there can be many threads, let me know and I'll make one and use the name you suggested.

Shirl, I'm very impressed with your maintenance. It's amazing there's an after hours number and more amazing that they respond. We do have numbers 24 hours for maintenance at my co-op, but I've never used them. Maybe if I ever stay there more.

It was about 27 when I walked Ty this morning. Temps during the day were better, but the winds were gusting 50 to 60 mph, so the temps still felt freezing. Tonight we'll get down to 20 or below with tomorrows high only mid 30's and low teens tomorrow night. I'm really hoping this is the last of winter.

I am going into the big town tomorrow to get some things at Walmart for the motel. So I made an appt to get my second booster. I called the county clinic closer but the person on the phone said I had to get my booster where I got my previous shots. I know that's not true and the pharmacy made my appt so hopefully I have no problems.

that is really weird Beth never heard that before... I'm sure that she got something wrong... I need to go get a booster I just keep forgetting to do so...
we had snow today not sure if it snowed all day or if it was sporadic but we got a bit of snow... it's funny seeing the robins makes one wonder where they find food when it's under a couple of inches of snow... although fortunately in town it didn't stick to the streets
a quite day had to go get milk and of course lots of other stuff found it's way into the cart... thinking of making that potato soup again just not sure how to get rid of the left over's... not enough room to freeze it not sure if it freezes even ... although if the bag of potatoes was out of the freezer might be able to freeze it so those who have made it does it freeze well?
need to figure out what I want to make next in the air fryer... wanted to get some salmon but didn't due to not sure why but perhaps next week... had ravioli tonight was suppose to serve 4 I think that there is still 4 servings left... and we both got filled up... so with leftovers to get through and Easter dinner coming it might be a bit longer before I need to get salmon.. want to do it in the Air Fryer but not sure my favorite recipe will work in it... need to some research on it...
you all have a good night
