Mornng. It’s cloudy, doesn’t appear to be doing anything precip wise, but we are under a Winter Weather Advissry for freezing rain, sleet and snow. North of us they are getting heavy snow, just to my south and down to middle part of the lower, it’s freezing rain. Then rain from there south. We are kind of in the middle. But there is ice on everything out there and another round to come later today. Those who have to go out because they have to go to work are reporting icy roads and also in some areas they said that even the wipers can’t keep up with the ice on the windshield. It’s a very high threat of power outages and trees or limbs coming down. So far so good. So it is going to be a very good day to be in and working in the basement. Every school district in half the state are closed. The spring/Winter battle of the season has begun. O’Sharon, this mess is heading your way, but given your seasonal temps, it will probably be rain.

Beth, I can’t believe it will be tine for you to head back to Utah in a month. Seems like you just left there. Like you said, time flies. I know my winter has gone fast.

Shelia, I know what you mean about lack of snow and water issues. We are almost 30 niches below our normal snowfall total for this time of year. Fortunately we don’t have the low water issues, but hat lack of snow means less water for the lakes and the ground. I read the other day, where the Great Salt Lake s in trouble from lack of rainfall and is shrinking. That will pose an environmental da ger in that it is leaving a layer of alkaline on the ground to blow around in the winds.

My fence guy was going to come yesterday, but nixed it. It would have been hard working out there as the wind as really cold. He knows I’m in no hurry. Plus I just ordered another roll of fencing, will be here Saturday. I told him to put the rest of the posts in myshed if he wanted to. Keep them out of the weather. Karen, any progress on your showers?

Guess I will head for the shower and then the basement. Sort through the pile of stuff on the floor and get that done. Have a nice day everyone.

Good morning. Got up to rain this morning after a beautiful day yesterday. Finally got my taxes dropped off and went to visit with friend for a little bit. Then on the way back home pup and I took a nice walk. More of a stop and sniff for Rascal but that’s okay too! I wasn’t in a hurry and just enjoyed the day. A little taste of spring. Sue, we’re being warned of ice on Thursday evening and into Friday. They still haven’t nailed the forecast down yet but for sure we’re supposed to get something. I have a dentist appointment scheduled for Friday afternoon but supposed to not be to bad then. Luckily the office is only about a mile and a half from me. Main road the whole way. But spring is coming! Time change on the 13th so will have more daylight. Been noticing how much more daylight we have now. I’m over winter and ready for springtime weather. My poor yard needs some real love, it’s always sad looking this time of the season. Shirl, your balcony garden is such fun to hear about! Guess I should get myself moving and accomplish something today. Need to think about doing a couple loads of wash so suppose I should quit procrastinating and get to it. Admittedly I’m great at procrastinating! So hope you all have a great day.

Talk about what goes around comes around, this link is a story of the worst ice storm to hit northern Michigan in the states history. The dates of this storm were Feb. 21-22, 1922, Exactly one hundred years ago to the day. Kind of interesting. This was way worse than we are experiencing now and they didn’t have the resources and equipment to deal with it back then. The pictures tell the story.

Judy, do you remember the ice storm that hit the Detroit area back around the late 60’s early 70’s?. We had about 2 inches of ice on everything. The trees just sparkled. I remember it vividly. Going outside it was so quiet, so eerily still. We finally lost power after a day or so. Fortunately we had a fireplace for heat, but it wasn’t too cold, in the 2’s I think.

It is cloudy and warm here for now but it isn't going to last long. We have high winds with rain, sleet and who knows what coming in later today and more Wednesday evening. I was supposed to have my second cataract surgery on Thursday but told them to reschedule me. The doctor for some reason wasn't going to start the surgeries until 9:00. He typically runs 2 hours behind and they were firm on their fasting from midnight rule! I told them I couldn't go that long without food or water and for someone my age I would think they would consider dehydration and other issues. I should have just ignored them and followed the recommendations the anesthesiologist gives my DH before light sedation but it is too late now. I am going to see if there is any place else I can go since I have to start all over again with another consult something to do with insurance!

Martha, I thought your sister might have had the cyber knife but was surprised it was behind her ear. I've heard that all the options are not 100% effective or only last awhile. I'm sorry hers didn't last but I've also read it could come back after and then go away. It is a strange disease!! The first option they recommended for me was called MVD where they would go in and put something between where I have a blood vessel touching the trigeminal nerve.

Sharon, I hope your furnace keeps responding to the tapping!!

BJ, yes. But the problem was that she didn't listen when told the high tides coming in were going to be bad and would reach her. Dang I miss her!

My project for today is to put things away. This place looks like a hurricane hit. And I have no excuse.

Good morning. Sunny out and no fog today. Tomorrow our temps are dropping. We will only be 18 tomorrow morning. Brrrrrrr Got my faucets all covered so not much else to do and it is only supposed to last for a few days then it can move on eastward LOL

Plumber was here at 8am but only to drop off some supplies for the shower. Said another plumber would be here in a couple of hours as he was on another job. So there is some hope for my shower install.

Nothing much more going on except some laundry before the water is shut off and dishes done.

Slept about 9 hours last night which was much needed! Went to play golf and did pretty good! It was in the low 60's and a slight breeze. Much better than yesterday! I stopped at the clubhouse to check on the wood working group there and one guy says he uses his dremel outside his place with no problem and no complaints from neighbors so far. So I guess I can try it here and if I get any complaints about the noise, I will find an alternative. I won't be carving that much anyways, at least not to begin with.

Our luncheon is at 1pm at the casino. I will order the roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy meal! Then on to the birthday party after that for cake!

I have 4 ladies wanting haircuts so I guess I will be busy later this week with that. I need to go to the bank to deposit the cash I have from my tips and haircuts here. I am keeping very busy around here and I don't want to complain, since most of my clients are snowbirds and will be heading out of here in the next month or two for the summer.

The winter weather is hitting MN hard today too, with lots of snow, low temps and high winds. One major accident with semis has I-35 closed. So glad I don't have to deal with that anymore! Just a little wind and dust here and some heat in the summer, but I will take that over snowstorms, bitter cold temps and tornadoes!

Those of you dealing with ice, stay home and safe!

I need to get my two little cherry tomato plants planted today sometime. Hoping they do good this spring.

Update:
Well we are having another high wind warning this afternoon. Winter storm warnings in the local mountains and possible rain here in the valley tomorrow (will believe that when I see it!).

I went to the luncheon at 1pm at the casino and discovered it was actually at noon! Luckily, I was still able to order and got my meal right away . We had a nice conversation and no one was in a hurry. There is one lady who has been here at the park for a long time and has been putting on the league for many years. She is 98 years young and is so sweet and funny and is always dressed to the 9's. She usually beats me on the course too! I just found out she is leaving the park in a couple weeks and moving close to her kids in Utah due to her age. So we had a little celebration for her after lunch and took a group photo with her front and center. She is an amazing woman! She will be greatly missed.

I am just resting now after my big turkey dinner and will head to the birthday party in awhile. It is really blowing strong outside now and of course lots of dust and sand in the air. I am sure the party is outside so I will wait until it isn't quite so crowded there. My friends Dave & Debbie live next door to him and their deck faces away from the wind so they probably have people on their deck too. Just hoping there is still some cake left! (altho I did stop at the Rocky Mtn Chocolate Factory at the casino and picked up a few things... )

Beth, I was very excited about that company and the couches that looked like they might fit. So, late yesterday afternoon I called them and someone actually answered. Turns out they just sell RV furniture, but it is made in California. Web site says it takes 2-3 weeks to get something delivered. However, guy on the phone says it has been taking 18-20 weeks lately, which completely eliminates me!!

I did find some items on a Camping World site that might fit on a slide, but I have not called them yet. This jackknife couch in particular looked possible because you can take the legs off and mount it directly on a slide. Anyway, I was excited and am now just tired of all of this looking. But I made it to Ortona South today, and am settled for the night. Thinking about making spaghetti sauce, but I just did shopping and need tomato sauce and chicken!! I like to make spaghetti with chicken instead of hamburger. So, maybe next week.

Sue, I don't remember any ice storm in particular, but I remember having to walk four blocks to the school bus in high school, and because our road was dirt, my mother and my best friend's mother used to take turns driving us to school. For the rest of you, if you have ever lived in a snowy climate and on a dirt road, you know how muddy it got every spring. Also, it was never plowed in the winter, so got rides in winter also because it was hard to trudge through deep snow in the morning, and we lived at the end of the street. Getting stuck in the spring mud was a regular occurrence when I was growing up. I remember when we were old enough to drive, my friend was driving, and we were taking some kids home after a football game. We got stuck and called her dad at 1:00 am to come and get us, which he did without even being angry.

(And believe it or not, I lived about a mile from the City of Detroit northwest corner! They finally paved the roads in our neighborhood long after I was an adult and had my own kids, but luckily I lived on a paved road by then.)

I went over to the birthday party and the wind was getting stronger and the temp was dropping. Was a bit chilly and had to hang on to my plate and cup! Was good to see quite a few people I know. I got about 4 new people just today who are interested in haircuts! I may have to quit my day job!

I tested the keys I had made the other day for my doors. 3 out of 4 work, so will have to go back again and get that one remade. I got 2 sets made so I can give one to my next door neighbor and one to my cat sitter.

Clouds are moving in tonight so maybe we will get rain tomorrow. Glad we had a little reprieve from the wind this morning for golf.

Feel tired tonight so will probably go to bed early. Back to work tomorrow.

Judy you might look and see if someone in CA sells the brand that you were looking at seeing that they are built in CA or another thought assuming that you will be in CA order it but have the place keep them and you will pick it up there... you might find out that they actually sell from where they build as well...
it's so cold tonight -1 that is outside not inside when I was watering the plants I glanced outside and could see where an animal had come through the yard bedded down for awhile... probably the moose or deer... to my knowledge she has never had elk in the yard... although we are only a block away from the elk refuge where they are fed so no reason to go anywhere else... rumor has it that they are going to quit feeding the elk they might start roaming looking for food.... I don't understand the whomever that changes things the elk refuge was created in 1912 I don't know when they started feeding the elk but I know that it's been my life time...
I experience ice storms when I lived in the mid west it creates such beauty but it's also so treacherous...
we haven't had the winds with this cold so grateful for that...
I need to take care of some stuff tomorrow so am ready to leave on Thurs need to get the mail so in case there are bills mom needs to take care of it can happen ooops speaking of bills she wrote checks put in envelopes but she has never said that they were ready to mail need to check into that before I go to the post office.
I also need to decide what to fix for supper tomorrow night don't want left overs... took care of them tonight... mom didn't eat much so just covered it up and put in fridge and what was left which wasn't much put in another container and heated that up for me... she accused me of adding speg to her plate not so you put that on your own plate... she took a lot more than I expected her to... figure if I get hungry will go finish up the tuna as it won't be good when we get back
got a load of towels in dryer I need to go down and bring up and have some laundry to do tomorrow

Sheila, that is kind of what I am thinking of. First, i really like to see and even feel something before I buy it, and second, if I ordered it in California where I will be next fall, I could even pick it up and have it installed there. Apparently, that Kathy Ireland brand is a joint venture between her, whoever she is, and Camping World. I am not 100% fond of Camping World, but at least there are hundreds of the stores in the U.S.

When I replaced my Laz-Y-Boy recliner a couple of years ago, I bought it in a store in Sarasota, but they wanted to ship it to my home. I negotiated my picking it up at the warehouse, which turned out to be very convenient as I was able to dump my old chair in their dumpster, and they actually helped me unload and load the new one!!

And I agree that they should not just stop feeding the elk without relocating some of them. They will start wandering and munching on private yards and gardens since they are not used to finding their own natural food.

It got up to 82 today and I had to turn the air conditioner on. That will probably last 3 days and then back to heat. I rained a few drops on me in town but didn't last long.

I didn't go to sleep until about 4:00 am and Sugar woke me up at 7:00 coughing. I called the vet at 8:00 and got an appointment to bring her in after lunch. She's back on pills for 10 days. I don't know why I'm still up. I dozed off watching the noon news but couldn't take a nap because I had to go to town.

Judy, I hope you don't have to chase a sofa all over the country like the mattress. My front seats have peeled a lot and the sofa is starting to peel. It's costs as much to buy a new seat as to have one recovered. I bought some covers on Amazon but they don't fit very well. I have a cheap throw type cover on the couch. As much as an Rv costs I don't know why they can't put in leather seats. I have seen big class A's at the shop I go to in to have all the furniture changed. Leather furniture should at least be an option when you order one.

I saw something on Facebook today that I had never heard of. An RV on one of the for sale sites had an electric furnace and now I can't remember the name of it. It could either be a stand alone heater or an attachment to the propane furnace. I'll have to see if I can find the site again.

My sister's birthday is Friday and I finally remembered to get a birthday card and get it mailed.

Judy a quick note on the refuge... it's totally empty other than the coyote or swans ect during the summer ... at our altitude we aren't known for gardens per say the elk spend the summer's up in the higher country you might see a few but see more deer and moose... you will find elk in Yellowstone .... it's just ingrained in them that the snows come and the vegetation is hard to get to time to wonder down to the lower elevation and easy pickings ... we will hope that the rumors are false... there really is no relocating them...

They should at least wean the elk off the food slowly until they learn where else to find food on their own. They could starve if they are cut off too fast after being so dependent on having food there, especially the younger ones.
