Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Just noon here and supposed to be 47 today! A heat wave! And warmer tomorrow with rain all day. I’ll take it over snow and ice! So today is my day to get out and do some shopping. I’ve put it off for as long as I can. I did manage to clean out the refrigerator freezer and wipe down the shelves in the frig. Wow, I actually accomplished something! I just can’t seem to get enthusiastic about doing much of anything, talk about winter blahs. Guess I need to have a stern talk with myself. That’s about all the itty-bitty news I have for today! Hope you all are having a good day and not dealing with the storms coming across the country. Be safe.

Wednesday February 16

Postby Shirlv » Wed Feb 16, 2022 12:27 pm

Afternoon All, suppose to be warmer but feels chilly to me. Back from grocery pickup at Food Lion which went smoothly. Not holding out much hope for pot of tulip bulbs. Think I was suppose to water them more. Information doesn’t always apply to a sheltered balcony. Shelia, I did think of a bowl but the big pot I want to use for salad greens is 18” in diameter and a large plastic bowl doesn’t cover. Have shower liner so will try it. Got a surprise letter in the mail yesterday from my oldest 15 yr old great grand daughter. I tried a few years ago to be a pen pal with all my greats. It worked for a while but eventually fizzled out. Her letter ask if we could start again because she missed me. Of course that didn’t make me tear up. Lol. She has grown so much in two years of this pandemic. So nice to hear a young ones lofty plans. I want an app to write letters from the IPad and daughter said she would help with that. Since my pace is slow and slower I should be busy for a few days. Be safe

P.s. Friend Edith is cussing “that rodent in Pennsylvania who predicted more cold weather” I told her he didn’t cause the weather but she wasn’t buying it. She is so funny.

Afternoon O’Sharon. You and Shirl both posted within three minutes of each other, so thought I would go with the earliest post and let Beth deal with merging them.

I’ve been out running around past couple days. Hadn’t planned to go yesterday, but prescription was ready and forgot to take paint chip with me on Monday to get more paint for the basement project. Then fence guy said he would come today as it was going to be warmer then the past few days. So off I went.

He showed up around 9 this morning and worked till about 12:30. Doesn’t seem like very long, but he put another 5 posts in and takes time hand digging through frozen ground. Also made a trench through the snow so the bottom of the fence will be along the ground and needs to pick up some fence too. He is at a point now where he’s ready to move two lines of fence and plans to do that next good weather day. Good thing he quit as the rain forecasted has moved in. Light, but non the less. Dogs aren’t happy as mild weather is making snow covered roads, walks icy, so no walk today. I don’t like to see this kind of Weather this time of year, because of that. But supposed to be some light snow behind this front, so that will coat the ice over.

I have plenty to keep me busy, so don’t care what it’s doing out there. Cut out a couple of wood bird patterns to paint as getting time to change the ladder display to spring theme pretty soon. Have some painting to finish up in the basement and am doing some genealogical research now. Started a coupe days ago. Once new bathroom flooring gets here, will install new moldings after it’s down. Think I’m going to run out of winter  some dsys it’s hard to get motivated, ut I just make myself get moving. Especially knowing that nicer weather is going to pull me outside eventually and I want this stuff done.

Time to get tax stuff organized and ready for Friday. Still need a 1099, but we are going to do taxes and thrn finalize it when that comes in. So guessI’ll go do that. Have a nice afternoon.

Shirl, Dollar General should have given you a trash bag. Good customer service. At one time I had a roll of clear trash bags. Don't remember where I got them.

BJ, your Valentine card is so cute. It's a shame your other dogs don't want to play with Pippa.

I need to make a run by Walmart to see if they are selling Girl Scout cookies here yet. They probably won't be set up until the weekend.

Anita, I find a treadmill boring too. I have been trying to ride the bicycle. I set the timer for 5 minutes and it seems to take forever. I have been making my 1 mile in the mornings. I just looked under my desk and there are 5 pair of shoes, 4 of them are tennis shoes. I keep trying different ones to see which ones work the best. I try to not go bare foot in the house because that just makes my foot hurt more.

Karen, you were lucky that guy came by and told you where the shutoff valve was. I wasn't around when they did the plumbing to the old trailer in Maurice and they didn't put a shut off. Last year when it froze so long a pipe broke. Thank goodness the neighbors noticed it and knew someone that worked for the water company. If I ever need water over there I will have to get a plumber to fix the leak. At least here I know where the shutoff is to my house. There should have been more shutoff valves installed on the pipes coming from the well. This morning I noticed water standing in a low place behind the RV. It hasn't rained in 3 weeks so don't know where that water is coming from. Harold had pipes running all over, even out to the arena.

I had boiled crawfish again last night. They were better than the first ones I had this year but not by much. I didn't make it to Aldi's. There were just too many people there.

Beth, your wind is getting here. I hope Barbie's wind doesn't come, that's a hurricane. The front is suppose to come through tomorrow about noon. I hope we can get some rain without having storms.

Good morning, finally made it to the small grocery store, got a few essentials. I need to go to the big one tomorrow maybe. After doing all the calisthentics to minimize my water leak yesterday (up and down and being a contortionist is not for us old peeps) before the plumber got here my thighs, butt and back have muscles screaming that I guess I never use. Took some Motrin and Tylenol and went to the grocery store. I will definitely live and this should only last a day or two so no biggee.

Got some worker bees here dismantiling my bath/shower combo in the master bath. Getting ready for the first walk in shower install on Friday YIPPEE

Think I will make some more lasagna as that was really good the other day. So good I ate it for dinner and lunch the next day. And I am ready for some more. Had salmon last night and it sure tasted good. My first real meal in a very long time. Guess I will find some of those pounds I lost.

Here is my BIG BRAG for the day--maybe for the week! It is going to be 80 today and 84 tomorrow, plus sunny!! :D It is absolutely amazing how warm, sunny weather makes you feel better and more energetic. Yesterday was not too bad, although it was cold at night.

Yesterday, I finished cleaning out my tool/junk drawer in my kitchen. Today, I cleaned out my tool bag that I keep in a basement storage area. I keep stabbing myself when I try to find a screwdriver, so I put all the tools in a big plastic ziplock bag. Then I put all the orphan screws and attachments into a smaller bag, the fuses in another small ziplock bag, and extra light bulbs into another one. I really feel organized, though i don't know how long it will last! I also pulled out some things I am just keeping as extra parts for stuff, so that went in a bag and will go in my clear plastic tool bin in my basement where I keep my drill and other bigger things. Don't need it cluttering up the toolbag or drawer. Drawer contains stuff I might need in a hurry like spare lightbulbs, batteries, and a couple of all-purpose tools. Also has tape and such.

Next step this morning was the plastic box in front of the passenger's seat where I keep my masks and bike stuff. Putting new masks in plastic bag helped. Now I need to put everything where it goes outside and maybe tomorrow tackle my big bedroom drawer where I put extra stuff that I would put in a bathroom drawer or closet if I had extra storage in my bathroom!!

And as I go, I am beginning to stuff some stuff for my trip into a very small duffel bag I have. I put in new fingernail scissors, two very cheap new washcloths, a stack of paper bathroom cups, electronic converters and plugs, small monocular, etc. Stuff I don't want to forget.

Morning coffees merged and Shirl I deleted the one with the error. I don't know how you posted that one but I laughed at the message. That pic looks like you're using a lamp shade?

I went to Mexico and got my teeth cleaned and checked. My dentist got involved in something major on another patient so was given several options from waiting (who knows how long), rescheduling, or letting one of his assistants check me over. I went with the assistant and everything's good, nothing else needed at this time. I bought some things at the pharmacy just to have then went down by the taco trucks. It was mid/late afternoon and they had few customers at that time. I got tacos and brought them home. The hot sauce he put on the side was delicious. Yum, I'd buy a bottle if I had any clue what it's called or if I could buy it anywhere. If I go back I'll ask. I didn't go early or want to stay longer because of the dang wind today.

Judy, good job, and I'm glad you finally have good weather. Hope it lasts. Karen, I'm looking forward to pictures of your new shower. Martha, I was surprised they wouldn't give her a single bag, too. But the people at the register might not have access to them. Still strange. They could have at least offered to sell one.

Long ago I bought various treadmills and other similar and could never force myself on them for long. Martha, I agree, even if I watched TV or listened to music, 5 minutes on one seemed like an hour. Yet I can walk outside for long distances and not get bored even following the same route a lot of the time.

Poor Ty deserves a better walk, but today the wind shortened both the morning outing and my outing after I got home.

BFF and I talked last night and are ready to try for the Panama Canal Cruise again next year so I spent the morning researching. I am the world's worst gift buyer and her 75th birthday is next month. I'd welcome ideas. We have been friends since 6th grade and are as different as night and day. I did find a few funny items.

Kids dropped off the delicious fettuccini yesterday and Monica's cheek was swelled up like a balloon. It was worse this morning so a visit to the clinic and they are stumped!

Karen, I understand the soreness! Every time I put together a piece of furniture, I found new muscles. :) Velda, thinking of you. Shirl, nice job on the planter! I like your balcony floor - plain ole cement here.

I find walking boring by myself unless there's a purpose or a nice place - beach, garden, park, etc.

This has seemed like a long day. I had an online appointment with the homeopathic doctor in Brazil. Technology amazes me!! I remember when I was really young thinking how it would be fun to be able to see who we were talking to.
Velda I hope you start to feel better soon! Anita I hope Monica can find out what has caused the swelling in her cheek! I hope your cruise plans work out for you and your friend this year. Sue I envy your ability to keep keep busy. We need a new fence, I'm sure Emma could easily jump over ours but so far I don't think it has occurred to her.
Thanks for the comments on my Valentine. I wish there was some way to display them I have so many in boxes.
It is getting harder to keep Pippa entertained she so wants to play with the other dogs. I see signs that Emma especially is getting more used to her but she is really too big to play with her. She gets her last shots Friday so I'm going to see if I can find her a playmate. There is an older dog down the street that is small and very sweet, he actually looks like a twin to Liz's dog, maybe she can visit and at least have some contact.
It has been in warm here today, low 60's but very windy but forecast is for rain and much cooler temps tomorrow.

Anita, Ty keeps my walks from being boring, especially when I let him off leash.

Velda, I've been hoping you'd post today. Please do so as you can. You know we worry!

it's been a busy day for me... mom got a phone call last night reminding her she had a bill at the hospital that needed paid.. so we went to the hospital she (the only one that could help was out to lunch) so took mom back home and I went to the store...( dd was going to be here tonight as she has to work tomorrow at the office turns out a whole 5 mins just to download or up date or something her computer so she might just do what needs to be and then go back home and work from there... anyway since she was going to here I planned on pulling out the steak I'd been saving back for fajita's figured it was thin would thaw quickly besides it is easier to cut partially frozen anyway... so I didn't take the meat out before I left for the store....) went to the store... got the pepper's for the fajita's and a few other things.... then drove past Albertson's where I need to pick up mom's RX so did a right and a right and a straight and was back to the store... pick that up then on to the post office then stopped by to drop of the check for water/ect..
then home and made it before the lady left for the day so back to the hospital... found out that what was owed was about 2100 or so... she said could give a discount if paid in full asked what that was and it was 1100 then she said what can you do I asked mom what she could comfortably pay thinking I could cover the rest... mom didn't say anything so I said can you pay 500 still planning on taking care of the rest and she said yes and the lady done!!! we will take that and you don't owe anything more... wow was amazed ... and felt very blessed... asked if she would get dr's bill's from those dr's that pop in and out she said no that the hospital pays them... again I quite frankly was surprised that the one figure was so low and then that she accepted the amount mom could pay... wow still amazed...
then home and took the meat out and thought oh my I don't like the looks of that meat then looked at dates bought in Aug and Sept so called dd and she stopped and picked up some meat... we still had Fajita's...
it's been good having dd here...
so a good day in all oh yes took my afghan to the cleaner's here is hoping that it will come out...
I had to laugh the other day on yahoo saw this thing saying the best way to get peanut butter out of the jar... so had to read it  it was a tic toc this mom had found out the best way to clean out a peanut butter jar was with you ready for this..... a spatula really???? been doing that for years....
we get a daily free paper here that I usually pick up when I can today's big news was megadrought even drier... the driest it's been since 1500 knew we were dry just didn't realize how dry it's in it's 20 year should end so wouldn't you think???
you all have a great day

Sue, sounds like you are staying busy and getting things done, as usual! I finally got my last W-2 last week but didn't have time to take to my tax guy before my trip. Will do that on Friday.

Beth, I think that is a laundry basket over that pot. Very creative!

Judy, I need to get my tools organized too. I can't find anything anymore. All my stuff seems to be scattered in different locations.

BJ, I hope you can find a playmate for Pippa!

Today felt like a long day at work. Not real busy which was good for me since I am still tired from my trip, but made for a long day. There was an older guy who had his hair cut yesterday by my coworker. She told me later that he had asked if I was "available". She said she didn't know for sure. Well, he came in today and (in front of everyone there) asked me to go to lunch with him sometime. I told him I had a boyfriend which didn't seem to phase him. He insisted and asked for my phone number. I told him I don't give it out but he could give me his. I really am not at all interested, but being that everyone was listening, I didn't want to be rude. Another guy that my manager was cutting today was hitting on me too. I ignored him and spent the rest of the time she was with him, in the break room. Then, after work while shopping at WM, a young guy was flirting with me about protein drinks and ended up buying what I was buying. I should be flattered, I guess, but I feel more annoyed than flattered. Maybe I should wear a ring on my ring finger, altho some guys wouldn't be deterred by that. I am just not interested in dating anymore.

I have haircuts lined up for the next several days. I work tomorrow and then off on Friday and Saturday. I need to get unpacked and get my laundry done. I did some grocery shopping at WM after work tonight. Didn't feel like eating dinner tonight tho.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

My test was swabbed Monday at about 5:30 and by 2 pm Tuesday, less than 24 hr when they had said 3-5 days, They notified me i tested strongly positive so they didn't have to double check their testing, it was sure thing. Judy you don't need to worry about me and tessalon, I drink as much as 4-5 liters of water a day, using as much as 16 oz with pills. Plus ive only needed it 3 times! Remember I am a retired nurse! Likewise I test with 2-3 types thermometers and 2 different oximeters! And I record data like a mad scientist . I'm very tired, but prednisone has helped with upper airway. No fever ever with this.. Maintaining safe oxygen levels and lung capacity. Food tastes funny, but typically with this variant you do not lose taste or smell, just get weird tastes and smells and mine is already a bit better. My son is sick but his is more like a cold. Can't take him for test yet as I can't go anywhere! If USPS tests arrive ill test him. I'm 5 days in and have hints I've turned corner, or it could be the prednisone. As tomorrow begins the reducing prednisone on its sliding scale, I'll see if improvement holds. Been years like 2 decades since I've had to be on it, but I remember well how I feel and how it works. I'll check in when I can, I'm just so freaking tired.
Martha Have you discovered podcasts. I used to watch YouTube on treadmill but discovered ifi find a podcast I really like, the time flies by and I've walked as much as an hour and half, just to hear an entire podcast.
Shirl I love your greenhouse!
I need to go to sleep. I'll check in when I'm up to it.

Velda, I don't even know how to find a podcast. I don't know why that walking the same way on the road isn't boring like the treadmill. And I can't just stop, I have to come back.

Hope you are feeling better and your son doesn't get sick. Someone told me where to order the test kits but I never did. Probably should have them on hand. I keep bugging my son to go get his booster.
