Friday February 11

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday February 11

Morning All, nice sunny day. Rain and snow coming Saturday but only enough to make a mess. Cracker Barrel is only 10 minutes from me so checked their carry out menu. Oh! Boy! Lunch specials $6.99, that works for me. My hips loves Cracker Barrel but once in a while will be ok. Skipping the dvd today will take a walk instead. Need distilled water for humidifier. Think the treated water here irritates my eyes. Don’t want to think about what it does when I drink it. Time for that walk. Be safe

Shirl, at that price it's a no brainer to treat yourself. Years ago I bought a Brita pitcher and run my drinking water through it always. I used to use distilled in my humidifier. Haven't needed one this winter.

My new phone came this morning and so far so good. It amazes me how much easier it is to transfer from an old phone to new one. Heck, things I was sure would be lost aren't (like saved directions from google maps). It's still downloading but not much more to go.

My site got a bunch of fresh gravel this morning. I was surprised but I think because my neighbor and I agreed top it being delivered to between our sites they freshened ours up first.

There is no Cracker Barrel in Washington - I'll have to find one on a road trip! I'm realizing I can get out and walk with the weather being warm in the afternoon! Just can't believe how much sunshine we are having! Assuming I'll have an invite to the kids' for Super Bowl, I need to walk over to Safeway and pick up some things for snacks.

Beth, my latest computer came with OneDrive app which I probably needed to set up. It took all my annual photo folders and dumped them in a mass of single photos! Then everything I did was sent to OneDrive. Of course, the free storage was soon used and e-mails started coming. I disabled it or so I thought. I finally had enough and reset my computer to factory. I was so surprised at what was saved because I really thought I set it to clear all - website, passwords, etc.!

Judy, glad the vent was an easy fix. I can't believe how often you have a water pump go bad. Martha, you better read up on scaring a bear off! :)

Gloomy and cloudy here today but thankfully not too cold. I like Cracker Barrel, the closest one is about 15 miles away. Their pecan pancakes are my favorites.

I had an eye appointment yesterday and it was with a doctor I saw a couple of years ago who recommended my cataract surgery, which was put off as everything closed down the week I was scheduled. I was sent back to him for the one month follow up on my surgery. He was so nice and friendly the first time I saw him but yesterday as soon as he walked into the room I could sense a difference. He wasn’t wearing a mask so I hesitantly told him I was uncomfortable and he said he would go get one. As he went out the door he hatefully said 'I had covid 4 weeks ago and I couldn’t be much safer'. Of course now I wish I had said ‘and I was supposed to know that how' He came back in with a mask on, under his nose! The office staff had on masks but kept taking them off an on. There was a note on the door saying staff was screened every morning so I was surprised at him not wearing one and more so by his childish behavior. I puzzled over it quite a bit and talked to a friend who works at a health facility. She said almost all the comments on FB for the main healthcare place here are mostly negative but if you look at pre covid comments they are almost all positive. I guess health care workers are just very tired but what I wonder is, will their pre-covid personalities return or will they remain like this doctor a totally different, angry person. As I was leaving they said I needed to pay $200.00, I asked why as they had my insurance card information. The 3 people in the office looked at one another, had a discussion and none had an answer so they said they would find out more information and call and I could pay over the phone. So far I have heard nothing!

I need a nap but Pippa says it is play time.

BJ, what a mess. Anita, I immediately checked my photos after your post. Whew, all good here. And I also am amazed how often Judy needs a new water pump. I'm afraid to say I've never needed to replace mine on this or my previous rig.

I wasn't thrilled with the meal plan I ordered that two people raved to me about. I ate a bunch of the meals under protest. Today I got an order from another meal plan. Hopefully I'll like these better. I really am hoping to find one with premade meals that is acceptable enough for some days while working this summer. Here I have so much close by that it isn't necessary, especially because buying meals from HEB is cheaper and excellent and I have time to cook, etc and HEB is less than 10 miles away, with Walmart across the highway. Fingers crossed on these.

BK, that is a horrible story!! I would certainly NOT go back to that office. He was treating you as if you were being unreasonable and irritating instead of being caring about patients. Putting the mask on under his nose would have been the last straw to his insulting behavior, although I admit I say a lot of things to myself later, I am not very good at the time in expressing my displeasure at people who do things that are just plain stupid. I always say later that when stuff like that happens, I should walk out, but I am not very good at doing it at the time. And then they wanted to charge you instead of checking your insurance. Grrrr! :x And, I'll bet the morning "screening" is taking everyone's temperature, which they now say is almost useless. And can you imagine having to work there??

Today it was 73 and sunny--first nice day in three weeks, so I took a long drive down to Canaveral National Seashore and bought a new lifetime senior pass. I had one years ago and then lost it, so have been buying the annual senior passes, but I have kept them, and you can turn in three plus pay only $20 and get a new lifetime one. Now, I just have to not lose this one.

Anyway, it was a gorgeous day and I really enjoyed it. About 3/4 of the way down to the end of the seashore drive, there was a sign warning you that at the last beach area you might fund nude bathers. Since there was no place to park a big motorhome, I was not able to check this out, however!!

I refuse to save anything on the infamous "Cloud," aka OneDrive, among others. I don't trust them, so when I get a new laptop, I spend a lot of time either disabling or removing all Cloud features and programs I don't like. Microsoft, however, has hard-wired several programs to their software, so Edge is one item I could not remove. They keep sending me reminders on how wonderful it is, however.

Nothing interesting here for me to post other than it was up to 82 here today.

I spent part of the day trying to get Kaiser to straighten out my Covid vaccine info on their site. In one of there apps, there are two choices for Covid records of vaccination and each is missing one of my doses. Since I’m immunocompromised, I received the first two doses, then 6 months later a third full dose followed 5 months later by the booster for a total of 4 shots. In one record, the first dose is missing and in the other the last dose is missing. Everyone I talked to kept passing me off to someone else. I have a feeling their computer setup only accepts the standard 3 shots that the majority get, with no provision for immunocompromised who can get a total of 4. No one seems to want to be the one to fix it. I think my records should be correct with my medical provider. But I gave up frustrated.

BJ, I would have either been speechless or rude right back! I get people have bad days and things have been tough, but being rude isn't excusable in instances such as this. Sandi, I got so frustrated for being overbilled by the medical clinic. Phone calls were useless and letter was ignored. I finally got on their website and used their 'contact us' e-mail to send a complaint. I don't know who monitors the e-mail but mission accomplished!

Judy, sorry you missed out! We were at Bahai Hondo State Park probably 21 years ago. We were in a very uncrowded area. A couple came and were quite a distance from us when she took her top off! What I assumed was a young child and her grandmother walked by - the park ranger showed up shortly after. :) I had the feeling the couple were foreigners.

Beth, glad to have your report on the meals. Don't know that I'll ever order them, but have looked at various ones.

Sandi, computers are wonderful when they work and a PIA when they don't. I'm afraid to send anything to the cloud because I wouldn't know how to get it back. I stopped at the local grocery today to get a lunch and they were having a major computer problem. Their system was adding $200 to some of the things they had printed the label for. One thing I picked up in the deli was $206.99. They were having to void things and key them by hand. Something I had never seen before was the chicken salad that was for sale. They had one batch that said Abbeville Chicken Salad and one batch that said Erath Chicken Salad. The people in line had a discussion about the chicken salad they liked. I like Maurice Chicken Salad.

I went to my neighbor's this morning to talk to the guy that was working on their bathroom. I think that is the first time I have been in their house in 2 years because I know they are anti-vaccine. She was talking about some trip they want to go on and wondering if they couldn't go because they are unvaccinated. She said she was taking her vaccine which I took to mean they are taking some animal medicine. Every day the news reports the number of new cases for our area and deaths. They are over a 1,000 new cases and 10 deaths. They say the hospitals and news are lying.

BJ, I think I would find a new doctor. I got some papers from my colon doctor telling me it's time for my colonoscopy. I looked up my last one and it was in 2018. I thought they were every 3 or 5 years depending on your last test. Given what's going on in the health system I think I'll wait until next year. I have had one every 3 or 5 years for the last 40 years.

I like to eat at the Cracker Barrel but it's up by the interstate. The food is usually good and the price isn't out of sight. I do think the portion size has gone down. I usually get the chicken fried steak and I use to be able to bring half of it home.

I made reservations for an owners club rally in April. It's in New Orleans. The rallies are usually too far so though I would try to make this one. I'll be glad when it warms up so I can go camping. I'm not into cold camping.

The past couple nights I have fallen asleep while reading the posts so haven't posted. (my roommate says I snore! :o I never knew that, but I guess Lola didn't care to tell me! )

Yesterday I spent the day with Gloria at her class, helping her get set up and passing out instructions, etc. Luckily, we were under a roof near the barns (this is at a county fair grounds) so we were in the shade all day. I guess in previous years they were in the sun all day. Several classes were going on around us as well.

I had a small gourd to use for the project which was good since I didn't have as much work to do. I have not wood burned on a gourd before or carved, so was nervous about doing that. i did OK with the wood burning for the outline of the design (fall leaves) but had the wrong burning tip. I couldn't find my set of extra tips at home so only had one but it worked good enough. Then we started on the carving. I didn't have the right tips for that either so I was able to borrow some from Gloria to use. I did OK with them but it felt a little awkward at first. I guess I need to practice to get the feel for it. However, Gloria and the other ladies all said I was doing really well for being my first time! I will post pics. We didn't have time to finish the carving or the painting so I will work on it when I get home. I am wondering tho how I will do the carving at home. The carver is super loud and sounds like a dentists drill. I doubt my neighbors will appreciate me using that on a regular basis (or even for an hour or so at a time!). I know there is a wood carving group where I live that meets once a week. I will have to find out where they do their carving.

It was a long day so we just stopped for fast food on the way back to the motel. Both of us crashed just after 8pm.

She has a booth set up in one of the main buildings to sell her gourds, along with a lot of other gourd artists. Before I went there this morning to check all that out, I went to the Casa Grande Ruins Nat'l Monument which isn't far from the fair grounds. That was really cool to see! Amazing that it is still standing after 700 years!

Went back to the festival after that, to check out all the gourd art. Wow! Just amazing what can be done with gourds! I was able to take lots of photos and ask a ton of questions of the artists. I learned a lot! Gloria's gourd art is amazing! I told a few of the other artists, that I was helping Gloria out and they all said I was very lucky to be working with her. She is well-known and admired around here. I had a great day looking at everything! :o Gloria sold quite a lot of her gourds. I bought a few things, mostly accessories to use on gourd projects. I did buy a tiny gourd from Gloria that was really pretty!

Tomorrow morning I have my thunder gourd class! That should be really fun! No wood burning or carving required. Everything is provided too. That class is only 4 hours long so I will have the afternoon to do some more perusing of gourd art and check out the entries and winners of the gourd competition. I also want to buy some more gourds for future projects. The festival is put on by a local gourd farm so they have thousands of gourds in bins there to pick from.

So I am in gourd heaven right now! :D Need to go thru all my photos tonight. My regular camera wasn't focusing very well so I finally gave up on that and used my phone camera instead.

BJ, I had a really nice doctor once, years ago. One day I went in to see him and he snapped at me and was really rude to me. I came out of there practically in tears. I never went back to him. I know they can have bad days but there is no excuse for unprofessional and rude behavior and attitude.

Have a good night!

this week each of my brother's have showed up so unreal my middle brother lives 3 hours away youngest live about 1.5 and the eldest of the boys lives about 1.5 as well... just the opposite direction.
the brother that came today with his wife is just about 18 months younger than I am there about anyway he was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer a few years ago been in remission but last fall he said he had issues going on with his health and I for one assumed that it was that the cancer was out of remission however that isn't it as his cancer is still in remission but for some reason his bone marrow isn't functioning... so he has had to go and get transfusions about every 4-5 days... he seems to have some issue and they have a hard time finding the right blood... he said he gets tired I can imagine that .... I at least understand better now that he has told us more about it.. he didn't want any of us to tell mom I assumed that was because he just didn't want her to know but understand now that it was more he wanted to tell her himself instead of hearing it through the grapevine.. again if he had just said that it would have helped us all not to assume something wrongly... it just puts my day out of whack when I don't do things in the time I typically do them... I can even forget to do some of the normal things.... like brush my teeth    need to rectify that!!!
it's about time to go to my room might still play a game though first enjoyed visiting with my sister in law though although it makes one wonder I was showing her the Swedish Weave and from the questions she asked is sounded like she hadn't seen one before but I gave them one a few years ago... mentioned that and she says I wonder what we did with it need to find it :? :? and hers is so pretty....
well you all have a great night oh and I finally over came the light problem I finally found a bulb that works with a light that can be changed in brightness haven't put it on the highest yet and so much brighter!!!
