Mazatlan on Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mazatlan on Monday

Postby asirimarco » Mon Nov 08, 2021 7:08 am

Good morning to all.
Yes, we are in Mazatlan, actually have been for several days. The last day on the road was miserable. Really degraded toll road and very expensive tolls. A lot of rock, rollin and shaking was going on. Surprised we arrived in one piece. But that is behind us now. We are here until sometime after the middle of March probably. There are only four units here in the RV park right now. But I imagine in a couple of weeks the Canadians will be arriving. And more from the US after Thanksgiving. We are all set up, Bill has his colorful lights out and we've had the RV tech here over to repair the drawer damage the guys in Arizona broke. The car mechanic is coming this week to change oil etc in both vehicles.
Went to the grocery store, had to have temp taken to get in, masks are mandatory inside anywhere. Hand sanitizer is available as you enter and as you leave the stores. We've been out to eat in outdoor restaurants a couple of times. Love being able to do that. Also met up with some of our Mazatlan friends. Went out to the plaza in the old part of town one evening to eat and see all the Day of Dead decorations and listen to our friend the musician play and sing.
Only problem for me is it is still really warm here and very humid and doesn't cool too much at night. Bill loves it. I am trying to keep the blog up with our goings on here.

Morning Carol. I wouldn't be a fan of the warm nights, but right this minute I'm not a fan of the cool desert morning lol Only because I have to get out and about early. I love it for sleeping and it'll warm up fast enough.

I am glad you are in Mazatlan safe and sound.

Off to walk Ty, then to get my booster shot. Happy Monday everyone.

Good Morning all, I doubt I am alone in my dislike of the time change! I feel as though it should be noon and it is only 9:00! It is going to be a long day. I'm going for my booster shot today also and I am being a real baby about it. November is going to be a challenging month. I have an appointment with the neurosurgeon in STL next Monday and finally after almost two years, an appointment to check my eyes and get re-scheduled for cataract surgery. Next month will be a different type of challenge though, as on the 11th Pippa will be home!! I need to get in shape! Emma had a good weekend at the Paducah, KY obedience trial and came home with 2 'legs' toward her UDX2 title. She is so enthusiastic her sits on recalls aren't always exactly straight and she gets points off but seldom scores under 195 out of possible 200. This time though her score of 193 put her in second place so the judge must have been really strict because there were several dogs entered.
Carol good to hear you and Bill are settled for the winter but it sounds as though it was a terrible drive. I hope the weather improves, I can't take heat and humidity either.
The fall colors aren't as bright as usual here this year, the yellows particularly are dull plus there are a lot of trees that are still green. Ok, need to go find a short sleeved shirt to wear for my shot.

It's bright sunshine here and 55°. By tonight, we are supposed to get rain. As usual, I won't believe it, until I see it.
I'm going to head to Curves, then back to work on kitchen.
Glad to see Carol and Bill made it to their winter home.
I'm not fond of hot nights and our cooler nights let me snuggle with kitties under blankets, which I love. We are all well, but I keep hearing of friends with breakthrough cases of virus after vaccination, though all break through have been mild, I'd rather not test that! I'm also hearing a lot of people whose booster knocked them back for a few days. So I'm waiting until my kitchen is clear and ready for tear down, before I get booster.
Have a good week everyone.

Only problem I had with my booster was a sore arm for almost a week. No fever or anything.

Carol, is there another, possibly longer but better, route you can take on your way home in the spring? Seems like the road you have been taking is just not driveable, at least for now. I know how in a motorhome, you feel every bump and chuckhole--very stressful.

My propane alarm went off last night when I was on the phone to my son. Horrible noise, but I should have known the five-year limit on this device was coming up and replaced it earlier. So today, I need to do some calling around to see who has one. Most Camping World stores are out of this particular one, but there is one not too far away that says limited numbers. Easier to pick it up than find a place to ship it to. Also, on the outside of the one that was screeching, it said to push the test button for three more days of service. Whew! And I can press it several times within 30 days to silence it.

Also need to do my cleaning I was supposed to do yesterday.

Booster shot done, in and out of the hospital before my actual appt time and the same nurse gave me this shot as the first two. I had no effect from the first two shots except a bruise like feeling where I received the shot. Hoping this will be the same. Flu shot done at Safeway. That arm is feeling it's shot the most, so far. I wanted to get some deli chicken but was too early as it was still being cooked. Ah, that's a good reason I'm not a morning person lol. So instead I treated myself to brownie bites. Sure didn't need those. I'll go back another day for chicken and other goodies as I'll use my 10% off coupon for getting my flu shot there while I stock up.

I stopped at a local car/RV service repair place and made an appt for the RV to get an oil change etc on Wednesday morning. Another early day lol.

It's cloudy today so feeling cooler out. Or not as hot as the desert sun makes it. Nice! Ty and I will go on a longer desert walk shortly. He's having a great time remembering all the places we walk here.

Oh, the hospital told me a few things. First, there are people showing fake immunization cards. They recommended that I take a selfie with my card and driver's license and put the original card somewhere safe. They also believe we'll be getting annual booster shots and there's the possibility there will be a combination Covid/flu shot by this time next year. Obviously nothing set in stone on the boosters, but sounds good to me.

I was at the health department an hour getting my booster! Too long of a wait and too many waiting together. My arm isn't sore but it felt funny for a few minutes, now I'm just tired.

Today was picture day, Pippa is 4 weeks old and getting more hair. She looks sleepy in today's photos.

BJ, Pippa is adorable!! I am sure you are so excited to get her!

Carol, glad you survived the bumpy ride to Mazatlan! Sounds like you have been busy out there already!

I need to get my flu shot soon. Will have to check when I am due for my booster. Is it 6 months after the second shot?

There are 3 new owners of our business, two (cute) guys, and a woman who is the head honcho. The two guys came in today and had a long meeting with the manager, assistant manager and receptionist. When those 3 came out of the meeting, they were ecstatic! Literally jumping for joy! They couldn't tell the rest of us yet what is going to happen but it sounds like some really awesome changes! The woman is coming in tomorrow to meet with the rest of us and let us in on the changes coming up. By the reactions, I am assuming it has to do with money, benefits, etc. I am very anxious to find out!!! We all chatted with the guys before they left and it sounds like they really want to get our input on what we need/want also. We will be doing a Secret Santa drawing tomorrow as well, so should be a good day all around. I guess we get Thursday off for Veterans Day. I will take advantage of that to finish cleaning up around here.

Stopped at Hobby Lobby on the way home to get some things for my golf counters but didn't really find what I needed. Did pick up a couple of Christmas ornaments that were half off. Came home and have been looking on Amazon and found what I didn't find at HL.

I would like to open my windows tonight but when I did so last night and again earlier, someone is smoking a cigar out there and I hate that smell, so closed the windows again. Will try again later.

Need to eat something and get to bed soon.

Oh, and I tried out my new back cushion at work today and no back pain at all! Yay!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

that sounds like a win Barbie no back pain would be good... it will be interesting to read what they announce..
Pippi is a really cute puppy not sure I'd want a puppy puppy but since I'm sure you know what you are doing training wise it will work out... good luck with your cataract surgery and you test that is coming up
that does sound like a really rough trip Carol hopefully it's a road that will be updated soon... have a fun fun winter
Lyn always good to see you post
Beth I think I would have been tempted to get the two shots in the same arm as that way it would have just been one arm that would be effected... my sister reminded me that I need to get a booster... I've have been thinking about it need to look and see if the time is up yet as she said you can get them at 6 months... but I'm am so stubborn that when she reminds (my take on it is nag) that I don't want to do it or at least not now... hmm I've probably thought the same about her
a bad pain day for mom today... not sure why one reason might be that we over looked giving her a pain pill when it was due.. over site... so we gave it too her a couple of hours ago then well now could give her another pain pill but think I will wait tilll she wakes up to go potty...can't spell it but tyn.... then the same with codeine.. one every 4 hours as needed the other every 8 hours or again as needed today she needs them and I won't even make her ask for them ... we just totally over looked the one 8 hour one don't know how we could do that knowing how much pain she was in...found out why no home health not that they were busy which is what they told us the other day but that they are in quarantine as a couple of their employee's have Covid and one just tested positive ... so don't know what will happen as this is the only home health company here in this area how soon they will be back up and running... at least I can quit grumbling about that do have a cold probably should go and get a rapid test just so I can say that I don't have Covid  I can still taste and smell  but it would be good to know for sure...
so did nothing other than blow nose and take mom to bathroom did do a couple pictures on phone and my two rows on afghan...lower pack is bothering me not sure if it's the bed bending over wiping mom's behind lifting her feet to put a pillow under them or pushing the wheelchair or a combo of all...
you all have a great day
