Tuesday October 2

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday October 2

Morning All, 51° and rainy. Frost tonight so I guess it’s safe to pot up tulip bulbs. Will cover the herbs. Temps in the 50’s for next week so hopefully the balcony won’t be an oven. The apartment is like a cave also so haven’t needed heat even had the door open yesterday. Watched a woman composting in a flower pot on her deck so might try that too. Hanging tough and no apple crisp YET. lol Think bags of frozen vegetables are better for singles so you can shake out what you need. I save the bits left in the bottom for scrambled eggs. Had scrambled eggs, broccoli pieces sprinkle of Parmesan and chives from the balcony for breakfast. Seven eggs cooked in airfryer now in an ice bath. Love eggs. A couple loads of laundry and that will be my day. Do have some seasonal clothes to shift around. Was so rattled about no IPad yesterday not up to date with everyone. Be safe

Beautiful day on the Gulf today, except i have not yet seen it. I spent late afternoon yesterday cleaning out my grocery drawer and putting my big grocery load away. Got some stuff to still find a place in storage bin underneath, but most of the mess is cleared away. Received my medical alert system but have not even opened it up yet. I also bought a bird bath, so might consider setting that up since I am going to be here two weeks--need to find a place to store it anyway. Any there are yellow bushes around here that are just covered with monarch butterflies on their way to Mexico. Need to take a couple of photos.

Glad your brother is taking over some of your caregiving, Sheila. Hope that works out for as long as possible.

LOL, Shirl. The mental image I got of a woman "composting in a flower pot" totally blew my mind. . . like, "Ew!"

I mean, how did she fit herself into the flower post in the first place? Must have been a really BIG flower pot.

Good Morning just barely, Must be the day for eggs, I'm having egg salad for lunch, with cheese puffs and wine. I also had biscuits and gravy with an egg this morning. It is in the 50's here today with sun but supposed to frost tonight. I have one ripe tomato and several blossoms on my plant and figs are starting to ripen! I have red delicious apples and some wonderful non pasteurized apple cider and plan to make an apple crisp. I have an easy recipe to tempt you all with.

Peel and chop apples into a baking dish, add a bout 1 teaspoon of vanilla, mix together about 1/2 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of oats and sprinkle on top of apples, sprinkle with cinnamon, then a layer of dark brown sugar covering all the flour/oat mixture, cover all the top with slices of butter. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for thirty minutes, uncover and bake another 30 minutes or until top is dark brown. If you like pecans add after the layer of flour/oats. You can also use pears for this or mix apples and pears together. I use Bosc pears. Also if you have rum, a teaspoon added is good. I like this recipe because the top isn't cake like. Also Red Delicious is my favorite apple to use.

I'm also having eggs today. Eggs don't set well on my tummy in the morning, but do fine lunch or dinner. And I have 4 eggs directly from the chickens yesterday morning where I stayed. Had I not gone to Portillo's yesterday, two would be gone already. But two today and two tomorrow. Yum. BJ, good chance I'll have biscuits and gravy when I go out for breakfast Thursday.

Today is my be a bum day and enjoy this beautiful place. I do intend to sweep and vacuum. Ty and I had a lovely walk this morning. We'll repeat it with another this afternoon.

No rain today yet, nice to get a break, but it is cloudy so no sun. Cleaned my bathrooms. I always struggle to wash the floor behind my toilets so I bought a childs string mop, LOL perfect I can swish it around and get in between the wall and the toilet easily. Good purchase. Put my bedroom sheets and towels in the laundry and now going to run the vacuum and see how much of my dog I can vacuum up.

Not sure what is for lunch yet but dinner will be pork cubed steak and veggies. I am behaving myself since I got home from Medford. I go down to Medford again on Monday as I have a Rheumatologist appt, just for him to say "Hi, how are you feeling? No problems?, okay see you in 6 months". LOL It is protocol for the meds I get every 6 months to either get my infusion or see him every 3 months. Next infusion middle of January. Next eye appt middle of December. Geez. But I am up to every 7 weeks now with the eye doc since I am doing so well so I will take it. Started out at every 4 weeks so this is good progress.

BJ I dont like the cake topping either but not a fan of oats. So will probably do the sweet biscuit drop on top. Or just put a crust on it, we shall see. Wont do it until I come back from Medford next week but it sounds good. I know my neighbor will love whatever I make and it helps me to give it away so I dont eat so much of it. Beth nothing better than farm fresh eggs. I buy them at our farmers market when they have them or when I go. Going to an arts and crafts fair at the fairgrounds this weekend. Just to get out of the house and see what they have. No charge but ask for a can of food, I got that.

Good Morning,

Shirl, November is not off to a good start, but I really don't want to do October over again.

I was about to get ready for a big trip to Wenatchee, but when I went to check in online at Great Clips, they are full for the day! Trip will wait until tomorrow. Sling insurance went up $100 a year! I'll drop most of the coverage for winter. Table I got the other day was the wrong one so have to haul it to UPS store to return. Credit never issued for the lamp that never arrived so had to make that call again. Apartment rent paid automatically each month, but they didn't take out water/sewer/trash as usual so another phone call.

Cheryl, glad you could be there for your cousin. Good to see so many checking in yesterday!

Anne, she was a tiny woman.

Just back home, crossed the hateful bay bridge to Annapolis. Ordered two pair of glasses and boogied quickly back home. Didn’t dress warm enough so will remember to keep a jacket in the car. Having a cup of Earl Grey green tea. Being so healthy I can’t stand myself. Lol. Salmon cakes and green beans for dinner.

lolol

The hospital just called and moved my booster shot up to this coming Monday morning from two days later. Works for me since I changed my arrival date in Benson from that Monday to two days previous, Saturday. And they didn't learn that from Facebook lol. I intended to get my propane at the park Monday morning, but just called to make sure the propane Co I drive past in Benson is back open Saturday mornings for the season. They are and will fill up on my way past Saturday. It'll actually save me from having to unhook to do it Monday, so a win-win.

Anita, I hate having to make those calls because they screw up. If you didn't call, especially re the water/sewer you'd probably be hearing that you owe interest, etc .. for their error.

I went to the dentist and Walmart today. The lady that cleans my teeth said my teeth looked the best she has seen them. The only thing I have been doing different is eating an orange everyday.

Shirl, I buy the big bags of frozen broccoli when I can find them. Most of the time all Walmart has is the California blend with broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. I like the broccoli and cauliflower but they put too many carrots. I have got to plant the 30 bulbs I bought. I am going to see how hard the dirt is around the oak tree. I need to plant them where they won't get mowed.

BJ, your apple crisp sounds good. I'll have to try it when I get tired of dieting. I saw the pictures or your puppy. So cute.

Karen, where did you find a child size mop. That's a good idea. I just about have to stand on my head to clean behind one of the toilets.

Beth, that video of the ship is scary. It reminds me of the cruise ships going into New Orleans. There are probably only a few that can come under the bridges. My first cruise left out of New Orleans. I was sure I was going to get sea sick but the only time I felt anything was going down the river in the dark with all the lights on shore.

Today I stopped at a Dollar Tree to get some wrapping paper and I got an email from Dollar Tree. I have never received an email from Dollar Tree and that's not a store I go to very often. I'm going to start leaving my phone in the car. Now that I have said Dollar Tree it will probably show up on Facebook. I had an aunt that was paranoid and all this would make her crazier. lol

Beth, I just watched a video of farmers driving combines under a freeway with very little clearance. Definite 'hold your breath' moments!

Martha, I tried finding the mop at many stores and finally found it on Amazon it wasnt cheap BUT it makes my life easier, I just cant get down on my hands and knees to clean back there anymore. And none of the big mops are easily maneuvered down there so............I went to my trusty Amazon LOL

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1

It is a good quality mop not chintzy at all so it should last.

sounds like a good idea Karen might need to look into it... I ought to go get some bulbs and plant them but not sure where I would plant them... love to see tulips and daffodils don't like grape hyacinths though I think cause you start them and they never stop.. I wish that I'd been smart enough to plant some bulbs at Larry's grave where they couldn't be mowed cause now there is a rule that you can't plant stuff like that guess it makes it too hard for the lawn mowers... probably the rule then or I would have planted something...
I think that next summer I will either buy a bird bath or bring over my bird water feeder or both they serve two purposes.... the water feeder looks like a chicken water feeder but hangs and the container is much smaller  it's a mason jar...
I really need to get up in earlier in the morning still have a batch of clothes to wash probably need to pack for my mom and perhaps for myself... it depends am hoping my brother calls me so we can talk about the logistics he is trying to decide if he brings over wife and daughter or just him... the problem being that he isn't sure he can get mom into his car as it's higher and what if mom needs to go potty really would need help there... so I said that I could go over with them and then come home possibly we could take mom's car as it's lower and then return in a day or so and he could go back with his sorta need to know so I can pack for myself as well...
today was a better day she did well with PT sat up seemed more "with it" my brother reminded me that Nov isn't mom's month she lost 2 husbands a daughter and a brother in Nov so seems to go into a funk when Nov arrives... I can understand been so long since I've been around her during Nov that I'd forgotten and all of the decades ago but guess it's just what is
they weighed her and according to her when she came in she weighed 111 today 117.5 but since she eats like a bird I'm wondering if either she gained weighted during the summer (as she hasn't been weighed since I've been here ) or if it's water weight... did find out the MRI showed edema on both hips as well as degeneration due to age...
went to a church activity had soup really good and salad good as well and we won't mention the caramel and apples  and a speaker about learning to communicate better... hmmm good ideas
