Rainy Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Tuesday

Postby Shirlv » Tue Aug 17, 2021 8:47 am

Morning All, planned my day according to the weather. Not sure if I goofed or Accu weather but I did not plan on heavy rain. Will try to time the Walmart pickup between downpours. Edith and I exchange remedies for our various aches and reminisce about the good old days. It’s a good thing we forget what we talked about yesterday or we would be bored repeating ourselves. Be safe

Mornin' Shirl and all that follow~~~
I rarely listen to actual weather forecasts now, but do at least when bad weather may come, just to see radar. I had a science teacher in high school who said that weatherman are guessing, so whatever they say, cut it in half. His reasoning was that there could always be a 50% chance of bad rain, snow, etc, so it's really only 25%. And with watching radar (NOAA, local channels) I've been pretty good at guessing the direction of storm fronts.

I've been looking at barn quilts for about 20 years. Have seen them mostly in Midwest states, but also into Kentucky. I've just got to get further east now. Someday...

Have a good day ladies. PT is here for Dad.

Lovely morning here, we had a small cold front move in and the temps were 58 when I got up. Only supposed to be 78 today so will be working in the yard and shed for a bit. I usually only do chores until lunch then after that I am usually done.

Barbie sounds like you had a really good getaway. I always like it when I can get out of town even for a short time. Cannot believe we are halfway thru August already. I ask myself where does the time go. When I was young seemed like summer dragged on until I could return to school and now I blink and it is half over.....sheesh.

Breakfast on the agenda then I will get busy or I will be working in the sun.

It doesn't look like we will have rain today. I got the mowing done yesterday. It's a good thing I mowed before I went to town because it rained in the afternoon. I got my new phone activated. I don't know what we would do without the internet. I had to ask on line how to answer a call. It looks like they could give you a helpful guide to get started. I managed to lock it last night and it took me forever to get it unlocked. I'm pretty sure my next phone will be one of ones with the big numbers and a help button.

Some blog I use to read was always posting pictures of barn quilts but I don't remember which one. We don't have them around here.

Barbie, glad you had a good trip. You should have had someone take your picture.

Karen, I saw your picture on Facebook with Claudia. She is someone that is really fun to meet and camp with.

I have a meetup meal tonight. Seems like there was something I wanted to do in Lafayette but don't remember what now.

Well, I was wrong about the rain. It's getting really dark and thundering. The guy that has the land across the road is spraying something. If it's weed killer it going to get washed off.

Good morning gals!

It was a fun trip! I wanted to make the most of being out that direction and see what I could fit in while there.

I did get a photo of myself at the wedding. I will post pics tonight after work.

Off to do haircuts and then work... have a good day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Another hot day here. High of 92 and humid. I am beginning to think this summer will never end. The part of Minnesota where I live is located in the extreme drought area. We have not had rain all summer and only a very small amount in early spring. I spend the day dragging a hose around the yard to keep the perennials and shrubs alive. I have pans of water sitting in various areas of the yard so the chipmunks, squirrels, rabbits and any other wild life can get a drink. The three feral cats have learned my schedule. I feed at 6 pm sharp and refill their water dish and put a treat in the dish at the spot where they come out of their hiding spot. Last night I was late and didn't get out until almost 7 :30. Two of the kitties were sitting by the treat dish waiting. They did scurry away when I approached but did not race back into the hiding spot. The third kitty rarely comes out of hiding when we come into the barn. One time it came to the treat dish while I was sitting making my presence known and chatting with them. I sat very still but it never took it's eyes off me and as soon as I blinked it was gone. We still have not made a camping trip. John would like to go to Chicago in September for his sisters 90'th birthday but we are hesitant to go because of the surge in Covid-19 cases. Minnesota is really high again. We picked sweet corn last night so it is time for me to start blanching. Instead of the stock pot with boiling water I put it in my pressure pot for 5 minutes then cool. Saves on heating up the kitchen in this heat.

Had to drive from where I am now, Maumee Bay SP, to Aurora for a dental appointment yesterday, and then drive back here--total 260 miles. Could not stay near Aurora because am going to stay maximum 14 days there starting Thursday and other nearby state park has only 20 amp service which makes AC iffy. Anyway, got a very early start, made it to my son's house in lots of time to visit with kids and dog. As I drove by, I saw dog sitting at the front door just watching the neighborhood through the glass, so she was first to greet me. Oldest grandson carried the two heavy bins down to the basement. I also had some candy in goodie bags for kids, and nuts and Mackinaw City fudge for parents. Also cookies from Detroit bakery, so everyone was happy to see me!! (Nothing for dog, however, and cat was hiding from me, as usual. Cat has apparently forgotten that she lost it and jumped on my lap purring the last time I saw her. She is a very suspicious cat! Will have to bring animal treats next time.)

On Friday, I am going over there to go through all of the boxes and bins I have in their storage room. Plans are to consolidate. Granddaughter can have sewing machine, and I am going to take my good drill and bit sets and toss the junky one I have now. Hoping I can give away more stuff. Also picked up my mail and couple of packages.

All dentist did was take out stitches. He said it had not healed enough to insert the bone graft, so that will be next step in early January. Disappointing, but it is nice not to have the stitches anymore. Still an amazingly deep hole where tooth used to be. After picking up a prescription and making a quick stop at the grocery store, made it back here at 6:30 pm, so am glad daylight is so long in evening still. Heavy rain about half the drive, so had to slow down a bit. And, this campground has only electric, so I had to stop and fill tanks before I set up, and that always takes a few minutes. Will hate it when days get shorter.

I worry all the time about someone breaking into my motorhome. Only problem with a motion alarm is that RV rock in the wind, so I suspect it would be going off all the time. Other than a couple of hours sightseeing during the day, the only time I leave it is in airports when I fly someplace, and so far, I have been relying on secure, on-site airport parking lots.

Good morning,

A cooler day here, but smoke may be rolling in again.

Barbie, glad you had a good time at the wedding! The kids do have a portable air conditioner, but they need a second one when we have this extreme heat apparently. I'm taking them to look at a used car about a hour from here this afternoon.

Shirl, I find I start stories with 'did I tell you?' Nothing exciting here and I like it that way. :)

Be safe.
