Tuesday, Aug.10th

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Tuesday, Aug.10th

Good morning. It’s o’dark thirty here in Northern Michigan. Got woke up due to doggie potty call and am now wide awake, but suspect I will wind up going back to sleep. It’s humid outside but cool. We’ve been having some heavy rain showers on and off since late Sunday, mostly in late afternoon and evening. Things are pretty soaked out there. Three days of humid and mid 80’s with scattered rain/storms coming up and then back to normal 70 degree weather. You gals out East will probably be the recipients of this down the road here.

Judy, glad you got to Sterling safely. I enjoyed the day with you on Saturday and was great to see you again. I didn’t think to tell you, that although you have a mattress on order, there are two places downstate in Macomb County, who can make you a mattress cut to order and you can go and get it done right there. I too drove through a heavy rain shower on Sunday coming home from church.

Not much doing here. Did grocery shopping yesterday, went to Houghton Lake to Camping World and Walmart down there. Picked up couple of retirement cards and gift bag for tomorrow’s retirement party for my Financial Advisor and an Office Administrator who retired last year, but due to Covid, thry were unable to have a party for her. Need to run couple errands this morning, but otherwise not Into anything in particular.

Beth, I take it, the place you are working for is in slow season right now and gets busier in the Winter months? Sounds like the other person would rather play than work.

Getting sleepy again, so am going to snuggle back under the covers for a bit. Have a nice day all.

Summer is the busy season. But for some reason while the season starts out with a bang in April and continues through the July 4th, it then slows way down with August being quite slow. Then September and early October are expected to pick way up again. Go figure. So if you want to visit Bryce and Zion, I guess August is the month to do so.

Good morning. I was up early today too but decided due to predicted heat wave I would get out and water early. It was actually nice and cool. Opened my windows and doors for a bit but that wont last long. Have some small projects to complete this morning. Just fiddly stuff like activating another blink security camera that Laura gave me and getting it put up outside. Need to change the batteries in my motion detector light in my laundry room as the switch is clear on the other side so this works well. Also bought another one for my storage shed I need to put up. Want to change my band on my Fitbit but dang it is a real bi*** to do. I watched the Youtube video and he made it look easy but putting this one on was super hard with the "little tiny" pins. We shall see. By then I will be suffering from "mood poisoning" and be DONE.

Still trying to watch Heartland on Hulu, there are 14 seasons of it and I thought there were only 7. But noooooo. So I watch a couple episodes each day so should be done by Christmas. I get bored watching the same thing after a while so have to switch it up.

Getting some breakfast and tidy up the house a bit then will tackle my projects for today.

Good Morning, Thank you all for your kind words and the poem. I think I am still in a state of shock. Toby is staying very close to me and I can see the confusion in his eyes. Emma isn't home during the day so he's an only dog now most of the time.
It is really hot and humid here and we are also in need of rain. I noticed this morning that the yard is started to look like it is fall as there are so many leaves down.
I'm having trouble with my Fitbit too Karen, I have the earliest one that you clip on but it has stopped syncing with my computer since I upgraded the version I was using. Technology is getting ahead of me quickly!! I want a new iphone but I want to pay for it, so far all I have found are the extended payment offers. We used to have a Best Buy here but that closed along with a lot of other stores last year. Setting a phone up looks like a challenge, I saw Barbies suggestion to Martha to transfer information to her sims card. I have no idea where one would find a sims card so I think it may be over my head!

BJ my Fitbit Versa 2 works great. But changing the bands is really difficult because of the tiny metal pins. My Charge 2 was easy, just snapped on. I have an SD card added to my phone that I transfer stuff to before getting a new phone. But I am not a frequent phone buyer LOL and I dont have an iphone. Apple and I dont see eye to eye LOL I dont think you can transfer stuff to a Sim card. YES Google says you can. Best bet is to upload everything to the icloud. Without the Sim card my phone wouldnt work. It is the operating system for your phone. But hey I am no expert on the iphone. Just remember Google is your friend. I always google how to do stuff there and on Youtube. I will be using Youtube to change my band ha ha

BJ, I am so sorry! I still think of the dog we lost many years ago. Hugs!

We had some cooler weather which was much appreciated. Karen, I'm so happy Heartland is in the new season! Sheila, I stay up way too late if I start another show just before 11, but I know I'm not ready for bed that early! Seeing more people masked up at the grocery store. I have a PT appointment in the morning and think I'll follow with a trip to Wenatchee for errands and a hair cut before things get worse.

I just changed my phone to my daughter's provider. I backed it up on the Cloud. My next option was to try to back it up to the computer - no idea if that is even possible. I have an old snap on Fitbit and ended up not wearing it much until I moved in here. Accidentally put it in the washer and it still works! :)

Sling friend in Florida has a bad case of Covid even after vaccination. The thread about his health got hijacked with opinions - I finally told them we needed a new thread 'My opinion is better than yours!' Geez. I did follow it with an angel emoji and most of them know me. Another Sling friend rolled her Sling and luckily came out with just a couple broken ribs. She had some add ons that were not a good idea for fast curves - luggage rack and large flags on the rear.

Finally remembered to call the furniture store yesterday. All my items are there but one. When it comes they'll deliver everything - that is not what I was told. The missing item is the 2nd Lazy Boy power chair which I find I don't like anyway. It should arrive April 2022! Canceled that so furniture will come Monday! Missing part for desk came yesterday. To top off my day, I cut open the pad under my right thumb! Reached for something and 'ran into' point of knife in dish drainer.

Everyone stay safe!

BJ, I'm with you, I have no idea how to save contacts to the sim card or send something to the cloud. I don't even think I can do that because every time something has wanted to do that I said no. I went by the AT &T store and a guy activated the phone for me. He said he couldn't transfer the contacts. The phone was Harold's phone that I never cancelled. I just leave it in the camper as a back up. I think there were only 2 contacts on it anyway. I just spent 20 minutes trying to add me as a contact on it and finally gave up and called it. Then I could add the contact. I don't know who writes the instructions for these thing but they aren't very good. The guy said I have another phone on the way to replace mine. I told him I ordered one from Samsung and I don't want another free phone from them. He said there would be a return label and I could return it. There wasn't a return label in this phone. I got an email and it said my new phone will be delivered tomorrow. I guess we will have another round at AT & T. There is a restaurant next to AT& T store we use to eat at all the time. I thought I deserved a pizza so got one to go.

The band on my Vivo Fit is easy to change but I ordered the wrong size with the last one. There is only about an inch after I buckle it and it kept coming out of the band that holds it. I was afraid I was going to lose it so I took a needle and thread and sewed it closed. I wear it loose enough to put it on and take it off.

I went to Home Depot and let them aggravate me next. There are so many employees they are tripping over each other and they look like they just got out of school. If you think anyone is going to help you, they're not. The clerk ask the old man in front of me if he needed help loading the big box with a lawnmower he had on a cart. When I say old, I mean older than me. His wife just rolled her eyes.

I went to Walmart and picked up a few things and came home. I would take a nap but it's too late. My car said it was 96 but it sure felt hotter than that. I was going to say at least it didn't rain but I'm hearing thunder.

This morning I was going to put flea drops on the house cats. I got them on two cats before the rest disappeared. They sure hate those things. Rascal has wormed his way into the house most of the time. He was sleeping with me last night and scratching so I might have fleas too.

Hi ladies! I've read all your posts and hope this "moment" we're living in, whether it's customer service or weather, settles down. I feel for all of you.

I donated my baby grand piano to church today and it was a feel good moment. I love knowing it's there. Now let's see if I can remember how to post pictures.

Irmi, your piano looks wonderful in the church. I’m sure they are very grateful for your generosity and donation.

Some good news for us all, ladies! School starts at least in California and Ohio next week! And i suspect many other states will be starting the new school year pretty soon. Yea! That means many families will have taken their vacations and have gone back to work. Fewer cars on the highways and with sports starting up, even fewer people out on weekend vacations! (At least after the big Labor Day weekend.)

Double yea!!! :D

I have also been a bit cranky lately and tired of so much traffic and families camping. If they would just camp as families, it would be better, but so many people end up inviting friends and neighbors to join them for the day so that campgrounds have really been crowded lately. And noisy. And full of little kids and toddlers darting out into narrow campground roads.

I am also cranky because my awning and slide toppers that I ordered in March are still not here. I did find out yesterday that my new mattress that was supposed to be here by July 21 is going to be shipped by August 30. I told them if it does not arrive by Sept 10, I do not want it because I will be on my way to Florida!!!

Tomorrow I am going out to get a haircut and stock up on some bakery and other items I can get only in Michigan. Will be leaving here for Ohio on Friday and not coming back for almost a year.

had to look at the date to make sure I was on the right page  finished reading what I didn't read yesterday... yes I was gone.... went down to Utah for a surprise b'day party for my eldest I simply can't fathom that I have a daughter that is 50 just makes me feel so old!!!! so we went to this really nice place for supper and she was dutifully surprised!!! you got a choice of tomato juice or fruit cup (I visualized fresh fruit right??? teach me not to ask) but went with the fruit cup... hmmm it was so small and get this fruit cocktail never would I have gotten it had I known however it had something on top of it that made it good!!! but still had I known...) next choice was soup or salad then your main course I had a combo halibut and chicken then there was dessert so expected a sliver of pie with a tablespoon of ice cream... turned out to be full sized dessert I had bread pudding but boy did the strawberry/rhubarb crunch look good... so would I go again yes!!! especially if my son was paying for my meal again  and I wouldn't get that fruit cup again.... so then we were so full that we all waddled out to the cars and drove to the creamery why would we do that??? dgd was leaving the next day to return to her home near DC and she hadn't made it to the creamery can't remember the rest of the name so off we went then back to my youngest were I was staying... the next day we went out and ran some errands and meet up with family I actually found my books August ones at that still no July and the K-9 Alaska wasn't there!!! dang it .... oh there was a text in the morning some of the family was going to Black Bear for BK then on to IKEA eldest dd text that they were on their way then another one came through saying have to go back to the airport so would be a bit later... granddaughter was flying out figured she left something or something like that... so later text going back and forth they go to IKEA then back to airport then to container store where we meet up with them..... dgd missed her flight so she got to spend more time with her family then son text saying popcorn and lemonade at his house at 8 so family time so totally enjoyed my day then it was so cute... my 7 year old demonstrated how to make the lemonade was so cute other than grandma had to hold her hands together so she wouldn't grab the knife out of her hand as she cut lemons in half then into quarters and slice off the top of the strawberries and then put them through a slicer... she did good and no heart attacks happened :o he had gotten a drink shaker since none of us drink not sure of the proper phrase for it... but the process was in one half the lemon or lime or both strawberry and sugar was put into it and the muddled she couldn't do that as well as it needed so her dad helped then poured into the other side with the ice water and put together and shook (dad had to help there as well) and shook and shook the lemonade was so good.... as was the popcorn he had bought a full size pop corn popper that made theater type popcorn and then had smoked some pineapple that was so yummy... as I said Sat was so full of family time....
I did take my computer but it stayed in the bag just too busy to get on didn't even get into the bank account....
one day I will put the forum on my phone but not sure how to do that...
when we were in SLC it was so smoky the air quality was the worse in the world.... just horrible when we were going back up north we passed one town and the smoke was so bad so thick guess there was a fire not far away cleared up by the time we got to Tetonia and then way better by the time we got to Jackson... so back to mom care I got lots of texts from the niece and nephew watching over her....saying she wouldn't eat ect think what happened was that they didn't get her bk and so she didn't fix it herself then she fixed a hot dog late so when they did bring something she wasn't overly hungry so didn't eat much. .... cause there was two hot dogs eaten two buns gone... hopefully things will go better next week
I have been trying to wear a mask again don't always remember but try has I have to remember that I could bring something home to mom...
you all have a great night...

My co-worker and I boxed up a couple hundred joints and then realized we forgot to seal the plastic tubes they were in before we boxed them. So we spent most of the day removing them from their individual boxes, sealing the tubes (shrink wrap) and reboxing each of them. It is a new project with lots of steps so I totally forgot about that one step. Darn!

We are currently under a dust storm warning, a severe thunderstorm warning, and a flash flood watch until tomorrow evening. We've already got the 40+ mph winds and now I hear the thunder and see lightning. Rain should be here shortly coming over the mountains behind me here from Arizona. Will be an interesting night!

Already got 3 cats and a raccoon fed for the night! Lola is next...

Did two haircuts when I got home, did my manicure and pedicure (still need to add a color to my toenails). Didn't get to the frosting of my hair tho. Will do that tomorrow night. I don't think I will get my hair cut before the weekend. I need to get my dirty car washed tho. Maybe I should move it out from the carport tonight and let it get a natural bath! I heard a few things hitting the roof of the house already so probably don't want any damage to the car from flying debris (probably palm fronds).

cont... lots of wind, dust, and loud noises on the roof!!! :o No rain yet tho. I closed some of the windows in the porch that I could get closed on one end, but the windows on the other end are stuck. Hopefully, it will keep some of the dust out since it can't blow thru from one end to the other now. Just saw a bright bolt of lightning! A long delay for thunder so not real close yet.

Irmi, glad the church is able to use your piano! Looks very nice there!

BJ, that was Beth who recommended transferring stuff to the sim card. I know nothing about how that all works. I installed an SD card and had a guy transfer my photos to it. Now I still don't know how to transfer anything to it or how to access it to see those photos! Still haven't figured out how to navigate my new phone so it just sits collecting dust. Don't want to transfer to it until I figure out how to use it. It looks a lot different from my current and past ones.

Anita, glad your Sling friend survived her roll-over OK.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
