Sunday, August 8

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday, August 8

Postby Acadianmom » Sun Aug 08, 2021 10:56 am

I had to go to the bathroom about 4:00 but went back to sleep and didn't wake up until 9:00. Sugar usually doesn't let me sleep that late. Sunday Morning is one show I try not to miss but missed it today.

I got most of my mowing done yesterday. I was trying to spray the weeds along the fence when I heard the first thunder. I would have been done if the sprayer had been working right. That thing is going in the trash. When I unhooked the trailer the foot thing on the jack fell off. It was rusted through. Something else to get fixed. I'm not sure where Harold got the trailer. After I got home I was trying to cut some vines out of the Crape Myrtle tree and didn't see a wasp nest. I got stung multiple times on two fingers. Boy did that hurt. I put my hand in cold water and took some Benadryl. This time I measured the dose so it wouldn't knock me out in case I needed to drive to town. This morning my fingers are still swollen and are itching.

Barbie, I need to get some of the V-8 energy drink. Anything that would make me clean house. Thursday before I put the trash out I managed to go through some magazines and throw them away.

I need to go dig in the freezer and find something to cook for lunch.

I am ambitious too this morning. I think because it is cooler. Vacuumed the entire house with my big vacuum. I use the robot in between but had to empty the big vacuum twice so guess it needed a deep cleaning. Dusted as the sun was shining and oh lordy I could see lots of dust. Then washed my kitchen floor and also cleaned out my fridge. Then I vacuumed the dog hair and crumbs off of my furniture. That is pretty much it for the chores today. I have to pace myself LOL Not sure what I will take out for dinner but having a shrimp salad for lunch. I am back to trying not to snack and still need to lose those covid calorie pounds. Will go to the store tomorrow and get some nutritious snacks. No more ice cream LOL

Oh Martha so sorry you got stung. Those things hurt like heck and then they itch for several days. Cortisone cream works pretty well also, in addition to the Benadryl you took.

I had a BLT for breakfast, YUM my favorite with home grown tomatoes.

Martha, multiple stings? Ouch.

I'm better today as the outside air is somewhat better than yesterday. But my dang cough that was gone after the meds is back. Hopefully I won't need new meds. Fingers crossed.

I couldn't sleep last night. Last time I looked at the time it was after 3:30. Then I woke up to turn the heat on about 5 or so. Slept through an early phone call telling me one of the checkouts had left but was up shortly after 8 and got the message. I'm glad I didn't go in earlier (went in at 9) because the other checkouts left at a bit after 10, then around 11. So I got the first 2 rooms done and only stripped the 3rd and will finish it tomorrow. There's only one checkin due tonight so only 2 rooms, plus I'll launder the curtains in a couple rooms. It's a slow month.

I need to vacuum but don't need to stir up dust right now. Sounds like an excuse, doesn't it? But it's a reality with asthma. I will run my little cordless to pick up Ty's fur.

I have to go to Cedar City Tuesday so I'm making a Walmart pickup order, too.

I'm so glad BJ checked in but now I'm worrying about Sheila ... Too many nights without hearing from her!

Didn't Sheila say something about going on a trip with her family?

My grandson called and he graduated from the school he was going to. I don't know what it's called but he was learning to cut hair. I just hope he can be more outgoing with his customers than he is with me. It's like pulling teeth to get anything out of him.

Hi all,

So much going on here - I'm tryin to catch up... Sounds like a few of you are really on a roll getting things done. Not me!

Got spoiled while the kids were in Hawaii. Didn't do much of anything but sorted thru some stuff & relaxed. Jordi changed quite a bit >> added alot of words to his vocabluary, repeats nearly everthing you say now & has more of an attitude than when they left. What a difference a week makes with devoted family time.

Discovered last night that I could use headphones attached to my phone to listen to TV using the Roku App -of course that's because I stream thru the Roku. I always worried about bothering the folks in the condo above me when watching TV during the night - now I don't have to be concerned anymore. Plus the sound is great!

Temps in low 80's for a few days here. Love it!

Will have both kids on Wed - pray for us. They play, fight & rough house together which can be exhausting. Thankfully Olivia starts school on Thursday. :D

Martha, sounds like your grandson is like my granddaughter who just visited. She texted my DD in France & said she wants to go there next.

Hope everyone is well.
Take care,
Catherine

Slept good after eating more of the edible last night. Got the two haircuts done and am now watching golf.

Martha, ouch!! Use Aloe Vera gel on them. That works well for healing and making them feel better.
When I first started out in the hair business, I was really shy too. It really helped me to be a lot more confident and social after awhile. A lot of it tho is listening rather than talking (other than asking questions), so maybe he will do OK if he is a good listener.

Karen, BLT's sound great! When I buy what I need to make them, after two of them, I am done with BLT's and the rest of the stuff ends up going to waste. :(

Speaking of food, I need to find something for lunch...
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

A week without TV and four days with very, very weak internet. Could text, but just barely, so i am catching up. Had a good time and a good lunch with Sue, and got some tomatoes from farmers market.

And congratulations, Anne, for leaving your two carts at Walmart! I would like to do that sometimes, but need the groceries and don't have the nerve.

I am in Wilderness SP near Mackinaw City right now and amazingly have both cell service/internet and satellite TV. Whew! Have a very long drive tomorrow back to south of Detroit but will manage. Bought a sweatshirt and t-shirt in Mackinaw today and also a bunch of fudge--some for me and some for my son and grandkids in Ohio. It is in freezer for now. Tried to wear a mask but it was cool outside and kept fogging up inside. Sure wish people would get vaccinated so we won't have this stupidity of people getting sick and then saying they are sorry they did not get vaccinated.

Tooth is bothering me a bit, but probably my fault. About four days ago, I had been eating oatmeal for breakfast and went in to brush my teeth. Found a bit of white stuff on the side of the tooth behind the one that was pulled and gently used my fingernail to get rid of it. Except it was not oatmeal--turned out to be a bit of the scab that was wrapped around a loop of suture material, and i ended up pulling it even more loose. Finally, managed to tuck it back in and it seems to be staying there. Have an appointment in Ohio at dentist next Monday--a week from now. They will do the bone graft then, and I will end up with more stitches! They will stay in for a week or so and then removed. Nothing else to be done (hopefully) until after Christmas holiday when I will be flying in to visit son and family.

Other news is that my awning and slide toppers are still not in, nor is the custom mattress I ordered!! Don't know what will happen if these come in after I am planning to leave for Florida around Sept 10. Need to call again tomorrow. I suppose the awning could be shipped to a Fleetwood dealer down south, but the mattress will be a problem. Ordered on June 30 and originally told 2-3 week on mattress.
