Good morning! Cool and so far sunny here. Still trying to get used to these cooler temps! But not complaining! Thanks for the information about the corded shades yesterday. I finally googled it and it made me realize how long it had been since I replaced any of them! I try to clean them as I clean but the slats tend to get brittle after awhile! So time to grab the drill and replace the brackets since the new ones won’t slide into the old ones. Today is haircut day and then I really need to get to the store. Out of a few things I use all the time so can’t put it off any longer. Later today I need to walk Rascal so will do that after traffic slows down so I can get onto the main road without a line of cars coming into town. I saw last night that the neighbor mowed the front so won’t have to do that in the next few days just the backyard. As usual, enjoying everyone’s news. Time to get going so have a good day and stay safe.

No east coasters opening this morning? (Haha, Sharon, you beat me!)

I'm still laying in bed as it's my first day off. Nothing really planned for either day other than being a bum lol. I have a friend coming mid-Sept for 4 nights and I'm taking a 3rd day off that week. We will hit most of the best things to do on those 3 days and exhaust ourselves lol He's excited. We've known each other over 50 years. He came to SD my first season there. The other night he texted that he hoped we could get together with this couple he only mentioned by first names who live an hour or so away. So I suggested a couple places we might meet in our whirlwind tour and that's figured out. All of a sudden my brain kicked in and I asked if Barry was the same Barry that was two years ahead of us in high school. Haha, it is and we were bf/gf my freshman year. I went to his junior prom with him. Then I was considered mean when I broke up with him after the school year ended. There were personal problems at home and no one knew and I pretty much backed away from all my previous friends. His wife went to school with us also. It should be fun. Or at least interesting lol. Hey, I'm happy I survived high school and actually graduated!

Off to get my day started.

Afternoon here in Michigan. Was sunny but fire smoke has moved in and muted the sun. Smoke smell is noticeable.

I’m being a bit of a bum today too. Knd of tired of doing projects and am in need of some metal primer and a few other things to complete a couple projects. Plus am antsy to go on a day trip someplace as well as get some business done in town. 9 days with no wheels is starting to get a bit boring. Should have it back either tomorrow or Thursday.

So, I took down a screen in one of my trailers roof vents to clean it ou, and had to fight with a screw to put it back in. Why do they use dinky little screws, and put them in hard places to get them back into on those things  Made the bed back up as finished washing the bedding and also the sofa cover. Vacumed the floor and called it quits as was getting warm in there.

I’m really getting hungry for some ice cream. Might just crank up the tractor and ride it down to the ice cream place  Neighbors need another laugh.

O’Sharon, I’ve been using cordless blinds for awhile. Had to go through the remove and replace the brackets thing too. Pain, but nice when they are done. I just dust them off when I clean house and also wipe them down with a rag and Murphy’s Oil soap couple times a year. Eth, should be an u teresting “reunion” with old friends. Have fun.

Well, guess I will go get that ice cream  It will drive me crazy till I do.

Good afternoon,

Apartment has cordless blinds and having been under a rock for several years, I had no idea how to work them. Actually, neither did Monica, but she figured it out. :) Sue, you just get on your wheels and go get that ice cream! :) Beth, your high school post had me chuckle. I dated the same guy off and on jr. high thru high school - we even walked together at graduation. Our mothers saw each other from time to time and were sure we'd wait until everyone else was married and then we'd get together again. He married a very good friend. Last reunion he announced my arrival as his first girlfriend. Later his wife said he was wanting to travel and she told him to go talk to his old girlfriend. :) Hope you'll have a good visit.

Pat, I am so sorry for your losses. So many tragic sport deaths lately.

The smoke has become less so I can have a window open again. Took trash out earlier and can't smell it smoke. Cooler temps coming Friday for the weekend, but of course the tourists will be in town. One of the new buildings has opened here and people are moving in. Not like we don't have parking issues already.

Have a good day!

I am almost in Sue's neck of the woods, literally. She is going to come visit me at Hartwick Pines on Friday or Saturday. Will that be with your tractor, Sue, or would you prefer I come to pick you up???? Kind of a longer drive than for ice cream, I suspect.

I am wiped out today. Took the free city bus to downtown Traverse City from the State Park, but could not find the bus stop, so I did a lot of unnecessary walking. Very small sign on my side of post and much later one on other. Anyway, after half an hour of waiting without a bench, I got picked up and taken to downtown to wander around and get some cherry barbecue sauce. Been wanting it for a whole year, but next time I might just order it and have it sent!!

Niece is coming to pick me up for dinner after work tomorrow. I have some olive oil from Napa and some old photos of her and her brother that my mother took when they were toddlers.

I'm trying to hold off on the ice cream but might have to go get a bowl. My meeting was tonight so I picked up a margarita to take and we had lasagna. Only 8 of us showed up.

Beth, your meetup with old friends should be interesting. I'm surprised I graduated from high school. My dad retired from the Air Force when I was a senior and we moved. I went from a school with 500 seniors to one with 32. I was so mad I said I wasn't going to graduate. I wouldn't let them measure me for a cap and gown but they ordered me one any way. Thank goodness they graduated me anyway.

I went to Lafayette and it started storming when I was heading home. I was driving 45 because I couldn't see and people were flying by me. In a couple of miles there was terrible wreck. A pickup truck hit a small car. The car was destroyed from the back door on the driver's side to the back end. There are so many people driving crazy. Going back to town for my meeting there was a truck in the ditch on one of the curves. It rained an inch here. That makes 2 inches so far this week.

I have an appointment to get my hair cut tomorrow. I wanted to get one before they lock everything down again. The mask mandate starts tomorrow.

Anita did they remove the dog dodo container? if I remember it was an eye sore?
my mom decided to not go to Utah with us but niece and nephew will be here for her...
been wanting to make lemon .... pie can't spell the word but the one with eye whites browned on top  couldn't spell it close enough for spell check to figure it out  so made the pie crust today did the last of the laundry microwaved left overs  and thought I would go ahead and do the third row so I would be done get it done and looked and what still have 1 more row!!!! my thumb hurts so will do it tomorrow...
the smoke is funny niece was here mentioned that out at the airport you couldn't even see the Teton's due to the haze of the smoke but here in town it didn't seem hazy at all in fact the sky's were blue
today has been one where mom has been more asleep than awake
we did learn a lesson today though that she needs to set the breaks on her walker (it's one that she can sit on which she does) at supper she reached down to pick up something she has dropped and I think she was too close to the edge the walker moved back and she fell was able to get up on her own but think she needs to put on the breaks when she is sitting on it...
Beth that will be quite the reunion I am sure it will be fun for all...
Lyn you telling about your 1 yr old twins reminded me of when we took the whole family to Iowa for a vaca this was after eldest was married so we had all our kids plus her spouse and daughter and one of the girls had a son ... the grandkids were only about 9 -10 months old toddling about.... my sister in law had a fountain in the yard that they climbed into splashed about and generally had a ball except dad wasn't into his sweetheart getting wet and perhaps dirty.... put a kabosh to all that fun... but they took such cute pictures while having a ball...
if I hadn't just had a rather dry strawberry shortcake I'd be all for that ice cream wouldn't even have to go to the store lots in the fridge... so lawn mower needed
you all have a good day

Up late tonight!

Was another busy day at work with another new project. My fingers are sore! Our receptionist found out today that her daughter just tested positive for Covid. The daughter's roommate is positive too. Luckily, she lives in San Francisco so our receptionist hasn't been in contact with her for awhile. The daughter did have her shots.

It got up to 119* today and will probably go over 120* tomorrow!! At least the humidity is low! It does make a difference!

Sheila, it is "meringue" you are trying to spell. You got me in the mood tho for strawberry shortcake now!
I got my mom a walker that when she sat down on it, the brakes engaged automatically. I thought that would be safer for her if she had to sit down due to dizzy spells she often got. Didn't want the walker to go rolling out from under her or down the hall with her on it!

I was reading on a couple of FB RV pages that a lot of people are having their catalytic converters stolen from their RV's lately. I guess the parts in them are worth a lot of money. I think you can get a anti-theft device for them.

Beth, I hope that GTG won't be awkward! I went to a wedding once for a woman on my golf league foursome. At the wedding, I recognized her groom as an old boyfriend of mine! When she later introduced us, we both pretended not to know each other. I think he did eventually tell her tho because she never returned my calls after that about getting together to play golf (it was after the league was over for the season). A couple years later I played with another woman on the league and when I met her boyfriend, I realized I had dated him once and he was a real jerk. I don't think he remembered me, but I didn't say anything either.

I better get to sleep. Another busy day at work tomorrow. The owner was even working with us today! We are coating the joints (aka blunts) in pure THC liquid and then rolling them in THC powder! Very potent stuff! One joint sells for $30! :o

Barbara, one of the materials inside a Catalytic coverter is the element Platinum, which is very high value. Two suggestions by our local LEO- engrave the cars VIN or other ID number on the device and /or weld a strap in place that makes removal very difficult because as manufactured, by car maker, it's under 5 min to remove and steal. It's been an issue off and on for many years since they started putting them in vehicles . RVs are a popular target because they are higher so easy to access and often parked unmonitored, sometimes even grouped at storage areas, so very convenient for thieves. A lot of this theft is based on easiest targets and the whole drug craze (requiring the addict a constant source of cash). Knowing this is a frequent issue, I think vehicle manufacturers should build in anti theft for high value targets like catalytic converters! Our LEO in this area have partnered with a few places here who will do the engraving and or strap for free or small charge (under $25). That info is published every so often.

Thanks Velda for the info! I am on a couple RV sites on FB and they have been talking about how many of them have had theirs stolen recently.
