Morni g all. Question of the dsy is, will we see blue sky or not. Fire smoke has obscured the sky for past 2 days. Been very hazy here and you could smell the smoke. But there is a possibility of some rain showers this afternoon, so clouds will probably be around as well.

No truck until tomorrow, hopefully. I will be running all over town if I do get it back. Fridge is getting empty. Might have to borrow some of the dogs food but then that’s going down too. No, not really, my freezer is stocked and I’m good to go. It’s just the perishable type stuff that’s gone.

Watching some videos of the Dixie fire on Weather Channel. Just keeps roaring along. I read that a ghost town, can’t recall it’s name, but was prominent in the gold rush days, was totally decimated. Shame to see those kind of places gone forever.

Shower time. Not sure what I will get into today. Did get the BBQ grill cleaned yesterdsy as if that’s exciting news

Good morning, Sue. Hope you get your truck soon - I would be going nuts without a vehicle. When I used to live up in the Sierra foothills, ready access to transportation was pretty much a requirement - one never knew when a fire might bloom up in the summertime.

The name of the town is (or was. . .) Rich Bar. It was an old gold-rush town, located in the Feather River canyon about 65 miles from me - there is a lot of really interesting history in my part of California.

It is. . . or was. . . a California State Historic Landmark (#337). In addition to Rich Bar, there have been several other tiny towns (as opposed to larger towns in other parts of the fire that are not in the Feather River canyon) that I can see on the map have been burned over in this fire (Dixie Fire), including:

Storrie
Rock Crest
Belden
Twain
Rodgers Flat
Virgilla
Hot Springs
Paxton
Keddie

(possibly others I might have missed - there are many Gold-Rush era towns in this area that still retain a small number of residents).

As of yesterday, August 4, the Dixie Fire has now achieved the dubious rank of #6 of the largest fires ever recorded in California's modern history (according to the Mercury News).

It is still very actively burning. . .

I will be posting more info on the fire thread as the day progresses (check on this thread as well for a link to video of of the town of Greenville - which has been pretty much burned to the ground by the Dixie Fire. No word yet on the upscale resort town of Chester, that was surrounded by fire last night).

The River fire, uphill from me near Colfax, so about 30 miles north east of here, has grown over night to 2600 acres. I imagine I'll hear fire planes today. No news on my friends home yet.
Another blue sky day here with temps high 90's. Will do more shredding and take a load to Goodwill if I get to it.
