Good Morning on this last Sunday of July. Hard to be,ieve summer is going to be over in a few weeks. We will probably get our reminder shortly, in that generally around the latter part of July into early August, we get a round of pretty cool weather for a week or so and thrn it warms up again. Yesterday’s rain was followed by a cool front that dropped us into the low 70’s. Today and tomorrow, it’s back to low, mid 80’’s and then back to 70’s after that.

Velda, my neighbors friend was probably just referring to how much work it has been trying to rid the house of smoke smell. That kind of fire and smoke can really penetrate into everything. Might be in vain anyway, with fires in the area again.

I never did get into cleaning house yesterday. Decided to tackle the painting I had to do around my new countertops. The backsplash is a bit shorter than the old ones, so there was about an inch of exposed drywall all along the top of the backsplash. And because I had an extra foot added on to the new countertops, I took a piece of paneling off the wall next to a section of cabinet so the counter could be installed. So hauled out the paint can and took care of it all. Gave the kitchen a good cleaning too. Now it looks finished. And also painted the other side of the half door I’m making for the garage.

Not sure what’s on today’s agenda. Definitely will work on the door project. Need to paint other side of the lattice and a second coat over yesterday’s on the frame. Might work in the deer and see if I can finish it. Martha, reason I get into these things is because I want to be outside and these projects keep me out there. Creative minds are never idle

Was approached yesterday by couple of my neighbors who are interested in buying my extra lot next door if I want to sell it. . They want to move but not out of the neighborhood. So I’m considering it. Need to find out a few things. I figured it would only be a matter of time before somebody approached me, the way property is being sold here. There are three lots for sale down the road, but they butt up against a motel, turned intorental apartments. Going to be a hard sell. There was an interested buyer, but he wants to put up 4 houses for rental purposes and that’s not allowed in the deed restrictions. It was brought up at our POA meeting and unanamouisly voted down.

Time to move on here. Got to get neighbors paper and head for mass.

Morning Sue and All, weather has been a little less humid. Still dealing with breathing issues but the inhaler has really helped. Beth, maybe inhaler effectiveness depends on what kind of asthma you are dealing with. The inhaler was $40 at Walgreens with insurance but would have been $20 with Goodrx coupon. Will remember next time. Will continue to hang out at home. Carol, I do remember Oleo and rationing books. Sue, I always preferred outdoor chores to inside. I lived out side of town and my only playmates were three boys. My childhood was running through the woods, building forts, baseball, and playing army. I had a mitt, bat ball, a toy pistol, bike and roller skates. I was a tough little girl but never could climb a tree. Thinking of our western friends. Be safe

It is hard to believe it is almost August!! Summer thankfully and hopefully will soon be over. I'm looking forward to October! Sue good luck with your decision making on selling your extra lot. This is probably a good time with interest rates so low you can probably get a better price. You do amaze me with all your projects inside and out1

I am working on getting my strength built up to get to my neurosurgeon appointment August 2 in St Louis! Not sure if the Gamma Knife is in my future but hopefully some pain relief.

Shirlv my childhood sounds like yours. I had a brother close to my age and no girls in the area where we lived. I was a typical tomboy as they used to say. Actually my brother was a bit less adventuresome than i was. I had a BB gun and could shoot with the best of them, until we had a war with kids from across the road. I can still see my Daddy breaking my gun over his knee. I hope your inhaler helps with your breathing.

My little Mitzi is going through another phase of refusing to eat. At least she is drinking water but he stopped eating Wednesday morning. The vet phoned in a prescription for 3 Prednisone pills and usually the first one will start her eating. Not this time. I gave her a piece of my egg with a bit of gravy on it. She ate the gravy and spit the egg out!! I can't let her eat just sausage gravy or I would be dealing with another problem!! I'm picking up an appetite stimulate tomorrow but the vet said he has no idea what is causing the problem. He's seen her twice but no issue with her mouth she just stops eating. I know people say they will eat when they get hungry but after four days you need to intervene. I fixed three different things for her this morning and all have been refused. Next try will be scrambled ground sirloin.

I realized that our temperatures haven't been that bad this summer because of the rain. Yesterday it got up to 100 and so humid. I emptied the rain gauge and we got 3 inches during the week. I decided to mow and it was still 97 at 7 pm. I got the hill and most of the front yard of the old house mowed. If it ever drys up I might have to get Eddie to bush hog the parts I can't mow. It's not suppose to rain today but it's overcast.

I cancelled my newspaper and I miss the Sunday paper. I was only taking the Friday, Saturday and Sunday paper. I got tired of arguing with them about being billed $5 for their "special editions" that I wasn't getting. I keep getting emails that I could get it online for only $1 a month for 6 months. I don't trust their billing. No telling what they would charge after 6 months.

I don't understand how the Goodrx coupons work. It doesn't make much sense that they are cheaper than what our insurance pays. My sister is finding the same thing. Some of her medicine will be a different price at the different pharmacies. One of her prescriptions is very expensive and she can get a 6 month supply for about 1/4 the price if she drives 50 miles to another town.

Shirl, my brothers, sister and I spent our childhood playing outside. I could out run most of the boys. It's a good thing I could outrun my brother or I think he would have killed me a couple of times. He would chase us with a bat if he was mad. To get back at me he would hide my favorite things. We called him Homer after an uncle that would aggravate grandmother so much. For 4 years my dad was stationed 50 miles from his parents. We went to their farm every other weekend. We would spend the weekend building tree houses and grandpa would spend two weeks tearing them down. We were lucky we didn't kill him. When we drove in the front gate he would go out the back door and lock the barn. I liked to read and when I got older I remember hiding to read. If you were hanging around they would find something for you to do.

I don't know what I'll cook for lunch. I usually cook on Sunday since I seldom go anywhere. I might make a 2 potato salad. It's sure hard to only use 2 potatoes so I don't have to eat it all week.

BJ, hope you can get Mitzi to eat. I was cooking for Sugar about a month ago because she had loose bowels. She would eat any piece of crap in the yard but not her food. I cooked her some ground meat and rice which she loved. That helped her and I didn't have a $$$ vet bill.

Good luck with Mitzi and eating. It sure pains us that they can't tell us the exact problem. Tips was always a fussy eater. Luckily Moxie got him to eat. When she died first he quit eating. Thus Peaches joined the family. He ate again, but never enough again. He was already an old dog and Peaches kept him going awhile longer, but old age took him. I'll definitely be worried if Ty quits eating. He'll eat anything, any time. I have to watch how much he gets.

Shirl, every inhaler I've used over the years makes me dizzy. My equilibrium goes off with the dizziness and I'm afraid of falling.

Martha, when I got the 3 prescriptions a couple weeks ago the only pharmacy less than an hour away didn't take my drug plan. Thus two of them that would have been free weren't. If I'd driven to Walmart (an hour away) even though Walmart isn't a preferred pharmacy on my plan, I would have paid $5 instead of $31 at the local pharmacy. The 3rd prescription was over $60 and for the inhaler that makes me dizzy so I skipped it. If I hadn't wanted to start the 2 prescriptions immediately I could have gotten them free via mail. Oh, the local pharmacy wouldn't take good rx either. Yes our medical system is a mess. And if you're sick you can't spend the time to get the best deals.

Off to work. I believe I only have one room unless any walk-ins later last night. Hopefully they've left already.

i was pretty much a girly girl growing up playing with my dolls, but I did like to climb trees and play in the woods too. My brother was always mean to me and would tear off the heads of my dolls.

Got my laundry done yesterday except for putting it away. Will do that this morning. Then the dreaded kitchen! Probably not as much work as I think it will be but I just hate washing dishes by hand. Wish I would have bought a dishwasher back when I had the money. We are supposed to get another $600 stimulus check from the state this fall so maybe I can use that for the dishwasher.

Clear skies this morning with no wind but is supposed to barely reach 100* today. That is very tolerable! Summer isn't even close to being over here. It will be in the 100's until October.

I am thinking about making a big change in a year and a half when I turn 62. I might sell my house then and buy a class B and travel full-time. I am itching to get out and see the country and get out of this heat. I might buy an RV lot here and rent it out during the winter season for some extra income and I can also come back and park here when I want, too. With the HOA only $350, it would be an inexpensive place to be for the winter. The lot would rent for about $1000/mo during the winter when I am not here. Each lot has a large shed that I could use for storage too.

Just waiting for church service to start on line. I think I will toast a bagel while I am waiting...

I also grew up a tomboy in a neighborhood full of boys, except I was a pretty good tree climber. My dad owned a small farm about 2 miles from our suburban house. We were allowed to ride our bikes on the shoulder of the paved road and then on the gravel road to get there. (My grandmother lived in the farmhouse.) Way in the back of the farm, there was a creek and a woods where we used to play. Loved those days when no one worried about us getting abducted or us falling off something and hurting ourselves! No parents had to drive us to "play-dates"!! We had tons of kids in the neighborhood, and a lot of them were cousins.

We lived in an area where there were a lot of houses, but varied in type and size, and with a couple of vacant lots that my dad owned. The most dangerous thing we did, I think, was to dig big holes and cover them with branches to make a sort of cave. There was also a couple of big empty pieces of property nearby where we used to crawl under barbed wire fences and start campfires! Never got caught for anything. I think mostly people ignored kids in those days unless we did something really bad.

I am still planning to go to Gettysburg and Williamsburg/Jamestown in September, but I am holding off on making reservations because of three reasons: 1) I have still not had the awning and slide covers I ordered and don't know when they will come in, 2) I still might go into Ontario for a few days, and 3) I am also still waiting for my new, custom-sized bed to arrive at my son's house. It should have arrived a week ago. It is made of several densities of memory foam and will mean I won't need the extra foam pad I have on my current bed. My bed is a strange size and has one corner cut off so the slide will fit when it is in. Found a place in Elkhart that measured and ordered it for me.

I am not due to leave Sterling SP here along Lake Erie until tomorrow morning, but I am going to go out this afternoon to fill up with gas and wash my motorhome. Directly across the road from the state park is a coin-operated car wash with two extra-large wash areas that will easily fit an RV or a boat. Check out is 1 pm here, so I am going to wait until at least 3 pm in hopes the crowd will be gone by then.

Thank you Martha! I had tried everything else but forgot about hamburger and rice. If she had not ate something I think the vet would have wanted me to bring her in for observation and I guess some type of feeding. The cost would have been $$$$ so far only the cost so far this time was $2.43 yesterday for her three prednisone pills which I was able to get at the pharmacy here. Plus my frustration....!!!

Hello Everybody, It certainly isn’t morning here in CT, but I had to respond to Martha’s comment about her local newspaper.
It must be owned by the same conglomerate as the Hartford Courant which was an excellent paper at one time, but no longer. I too got caught up in the Courant promotions and one winter while I was traveling the paper decided that I was over my subscription time due these special editions and sent me a bill which I disputed. Next thing I knew they had sent my bill for $26 and some odd cents to a collection agency. Well, that was it! No more Hartford Courant for me...
I now subscribe to the New York Times which is very expensive, but I thought I needed to support them when Trump declared that the newspaper was the enemy of the people. Plus I love the daily Two Not Touch puzzle which they added during the pandemic! Expensive puzzle for sure.

I was thinking about being a tomboy as I was growing up. My biggest problem was that I had a mother who was a girly-girly growing up in a big family. Although they were not poor, apparently, she never got enough dolls because every Christmas I got a beautiful doll. Ugh and boring!! I'd put them up on the top of a high shelf and pretty much ignore them. Except I had a lot of younger cousins and two in particular (not sisters) used to come over and undress every lousy doll I had!! I used to get irritated because it took me forever after they left to put the clothes on them again.

A few years before she died, my mother found out that I had tossed my entire doll collection, and she was very upset. I don't think she really ever forgave me.

My DIL in California also liked dolls when she was a child, but unfortunately her daughter inherited my lack of interest in such things. When she was two or three, her mother bought her a really nice doll house and asked us grandmothers to buy furniture for it. Furniture got lost pretty fast and the biggest disappointment to my DIL was when my granddaughter drew all over the now-barren doll house with crayons. Eventually, it got tossed.

I'll bet some of you had similar experiences with mothers and expectations.

Judy, I had no desire for dolls, with 2 exceptions. First was my 3 foot lifelike doll that was my friend. Second was Tressy who had hair that grew and shortened. My sister was 6 years older and I got in trouble for giving away her dolls. Heck, they were just in the closet lol

My mom didn't care if I had dolls or not. So that was good. I was either outside or reading.

My sister and I always got dolls for Christmas and the first thing we would do is undress them and wash their hair. The dolls would be a mess after we had them a short time. I don't think one made it from one Christmas to the next. lol I was more interested it getting a toy horse statue for my collection.

Judy, I went to Colonial Williamsburg probably 20 years ago. The office staff had gone to Virginia for the retirement party for one of the boat captains. I had never heard of Colonial Williamsburg so some of us rented a car and went. We didn't have much time so It was a rushed visit.

Peggy, I got a bill for about $9 after I told the newspaper to cancel my subscription. They must have written it off because it wasn't long before they were trying to kiss and make up. The amount newspapers and magazines can charge for ads is based on their circulation so it's to their advantage to keep you. I am still getting two subscriptions that Harold wanted. I didn't tell them to cancel but just quit paying. They are farm magazines so I just give them to the neighbor.

The lady from the golf cart place called and told me I could pick up my cart this coming week. I ask her if she would be there for a little while because my trailer was still hooked up and I could come get it. I had some ribs in the oven but I turned the oven off and headed for town. Glad to get it home but I still can't get to the pond because the mud hole at the gate is too deep. There's another gate but I can't get it open. Hopefully things will dry up around here soon.

actually took a nap today rarely get one now but I planned on taking a short nap lasted a lot longer than I planned on... I set the timer for an hour but not sure if I turned it off or not... oh well then the chicken wasn't thawed enough which would have been ok if I'd not slept so long then I could have put the chicken in a cold water bath and thawed it quicker that way so I took out some left over french dip from the freezer and heated it up there maybe enough for mom so perhaps Tuesday tomorrow figure out what to do with the chicken breast
need to figure out how to find my pattern that I had for the baby afghan that I made for my youngest want to make one for the great grandson I told my dd where to find it but she didn't get back with me as to if she found it or not... and can't find it on the internet at least not in the way I looked... am thinking perhaps having dd take a picture a real close up of the afghan and go to the yarn shop here... see if they can help me ...
if I made it home am pretty sure that I could find it but don't know when that will happen just wish that I had thought of it last time I was home...
