Wednesday June 30

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Wednesday June 30

Postby Shirlv » Wed Jun 30, 2021 10:47 am

Morning All, won’t even mention weather. Yesterday had a pick up order from Walmart, they loaded groceries. When I got to parking lot, loaded the groceries in the cart, struggled thru two doors, put cold stuff in fridge and promptly fell asleep in the recliner. Between the pandemic, heat and age I really need to do something. Decided I will walk the air conditioned halls in the building several times a day. Means I have to put on decent clothes. Ugh No plans for the 4th, will just stay home, water plants, read and eat cold watermelon. Be safe and stay cool

Lurkers, would be cool if you logged on tomorrow and just said “checking in”. Like to see how many hits. Please, I’m bored and shut in. :D

Shirl, I think we have one more day before "Rabbits" check-in day. But a great suggestion!

This heat wave is awful! Van Couver BC hit 116* the other day and that was the highest temp ever recorded for all of Canada! So crazy! I feel for everyone up in the northwest that doesn't have AC! Can't imagine how they survive in this heat! I have a portable AC unit that I am trying to sell. Wish I could bring it up there for someone who needs it! No one here seems interested.

I need to figure out my new phone. It is totally different than the ones I have had in the past. I think I can find a tutorial on line for it, I hope!

Gonna go thru my clothes today and get rid of what I no longer use/need. Especially my t-shirts! I have 5 drawers crammed full of t-shirts! Sure don't need all of those!

The weather forecast said a 50% chance of rain and thunderstorms today. All I see outside right now is a cloudless blue sky! It was cloudy yesterday tho but no rain. Just very humid!

I start my new job tomorrow. Not sure why I feel a bit nervous. It is pretty mindless!

I should check the water bins for the kitties today too and make sure they are clean and fresh.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Barbie, tomorrow is the first and rabbits day. I went camping for two days and had to catch up here. Wouldn't you know the scratchy throat, etc, turned into a full blown cold Monday night. And I'm still miserable. At least I was in a campsite with a beautiful view. No service there but I was fine with that.

As I read all the posts I made mental notes of things to comment on. My brain is so cloudy that I've forgotten all of my planned comments. I sure hope I feel up too working tomorrow!

Shirl, I don't put on decent clothes to walk Ty. Stay comfie walking those halls.

Another glorious cool morning after our heat wave shock. Think our hot weather moved north. My fence installer was here at 8am bright and early, got all the fence posts in and will be back tomorrow to string the chain link. Have to take Emma out on a leash for today but she doesn't really care. Temp is 69 out right now, doors and windows still open, loving it. However, we have a pretty good cloud cover keeping our high today to only 86, YAY. I thought we might get smoke from the big fire in northern California the Weed/Lake Shastina area, however I dont smell any smoke yet so that is good and they say it is blowing more easterly.

Broke down all my cardboard and will get rid of that later today. Now need to vacuum all the little bits of block foam that end up all over and almost impossible to pick up. Need to vacuum anyway so will just do the whole house.

Laura is coming down for July 4th weekend and she is going to install my ceiling fans. We will also do some relaxing tho. Always so good to see her.

Rabbits, Heartguard, and change my passwords tomorrow. I will remember the last 2 but Rabbits is always a surprise.

I went to town to run my errands and go to Walmart. Trying to get everything done so I can get on the road before noon tomorrow. I looked for some liquid Benadryl and Benadryl cream but didn't see any. I was going to stop at Walgreens but had forgotten about it by the time I left Walmart. It clouded up and was thundering when I got home but looks like we missed the rain.

Beth, the pictures of where you camped were beautiful. Hope you are feeling better. If I'm going to get sick it's usually when I'm camping. Guess I pick up new germs.

Karen, glad your heat wave has broken some. Laura is very talented if she can install ceiling fans. I wish I had one installed in my office when I was getting them installed. I really need to find someone to fence the back yard.

This year is really zipping along. Hope I remember Rabbits tonight because I won't remember in the morning.

There is another possible tropical storm that could be over Cuba by Monday. Something else to worry about. The last time someone tried to start the tractor it wouldn't start. I will have to get it worked on so we can move it if we have to. No one has ever called to tell me when they would pick up the golf cart.

I am "camped" in a RV area in one of the Ohio Turnpike Service Plaza. In half of the plazas, they have special parking areas for RVs that have electric hookups, plus a nearby dump station and water fill faucet. Cost is self-pay of $20 per night, but you are only allowed to stay one night. This works well for people like me who want to break up a long drive or who do not have a reservation.

The REV/Fleetwood customer service area solved the two big problems I had and several smaller ones fixed. My goal with all these fixes is to spend some money to get everything fixed so I can get another few years out of my rig. One big fix was that the fiberglass front cab-over bunk area was loose from the metal part of the cab. It was making a horrible squeaking noise and water was coming in. They said several screws had rusted and popped through the metal, so they put in new screws with washers. No noise any more. Second big problem was my lack of tail lights. That was the hardest fix, but it is now solved. Found pinched wire under motorhome and repaired it. Smaller items included a new bulb in hood over stove, new GFI plug in bathroom so my wall plugs now work on that side. Also, fixed a crack they found on roof with sealant, stopped my rear TVs from flickering, and changed oil. They also inspected my shocks and springs and told me shocks were OK, but not the best quality and maybe I would want to replace them eventually with shocks that were more appropriate for my heavy vehicle. One major thing NOT done was that my new patio awning and two slide toppers did not arrive. They are supposed to come July 18, but service manager will make sure they are really there before calling me to set up appointment.

The REV service place is really nice because most of their mechanics have worked in the factory, so know how these things are built. They fix things right that other dealers have messed up--like my tail lights that have been previous "fixed" three times, but where the fixes lasted only a couple of hours. They mostly deal only with big, really expensive A's, so mine was the only C there. They have a nice paved lot with spots marked out and numbered, with room for slides and a car between units. Each spot has 50 AMP service, and there is a dump station and water fill next to the service building. Also, two very comfortable lounges (one dog-free) and a refrigerator and microwave, plus 24-hour access to restrooms AND a laundromat! (No quarters needed for machines.) So, I got three nights of free camping and was able to do three loads of laundry.

I also still need a new couch because the vinyl is shedding off the current one. I looked at an RV furniture place, and it looks like my best and cheapest solution is to have it reupholstered. It sits on a 6" slide and any regular RV couch would end up being too high and also VERY expensive. However, while I was in the custom furniture store, I discovered that they custom-make mattresses in weird RV sizes and shapes!! Mine has always been horrible. Without the 3" memory foam topper, you can feel every inner spring, and it is horribly uncomfortable. So, I ordered a really nice foam mattress that will be very comfortable and the right size with the corner cut off so it fits when the slide goes in. I am very happy about getting it shipped to my son's house in 2-3 weeks. Yea!! A comfortable bed!!

All of this was expensive, but I had some extra money that I had saved for this, so it will not put me into debt. Tomorrow I head for Maumee Bay State Park for a few days and then to another state park nearer my son's house. He has a condo overlooking Sandusky Bay, so I will probably drive there for one day.

Good evening!

I came in to post earlier and found laptop had overheated and shut down. Cooling pad ordered!

It's still hot here - maybe only 94 tomorrow. Not really bothering me except for taking out all the packing material like Karen is doing. Dining table and 2 nightstands came. Most of my things to put together were Sauder brand and have been well marked and good directions. The desk was the worst, but it had lots of parts. Picked up shelving at Home Depot today for patio closet. End table comes tomorrow; tv soon; ordered electrical converter for Aladdin oil lamp; office closet shelving coming for all the genealogy books. Still backorders from furniture store.

Shirl, my day today was like yours after grocery shopping - cold stuff away and asleep in the chair! Going to bed earlier, getting up very early still so nap time comes! Usually still up at midnight to say 'rabbits', but......

Monica and I had planned lots of shopping today, but we settled for just the grocery store and a quick Target stop. I'd be lost without the car in this heat.

Grandson heads to quarantine tomorrow (his 22nd birthday) before going overseas again. :(

Don't forget 'rabbits' :D

For some reason I was thinking it was the end of July instead of June! Maybe because of the heat! So I will really try to remember to say "rabbits" just after midnight tonight. I really need all the luck this month that I can get. Last month I forgot to say it and nothing went right.

Beth, what a view!! Great "little" campsite! How much did that cost? Is it just dry camping or is there electric?

Anita, how do you like your new car?

I went thru all my clothes today. I got rid of 36 t-shirts!!! :o That was about half of what I have! Now I have some extra drawer space! :!: I filled 3 garbage bags with clothes! My closet looks pretty sparse too. Will drop them off tomorrow at a thrift store. Still need to do more cleaning in my closet of other misc things on the floor and shelves. And my undies drawer. I just threw out a bunch of them and they seem to be reproducing like rabbits! The drawer is full again. I think the problem is I buy a pack of 6-8 of them and they don't fit right so I buy a different kind of 6-8 more, until I find ones that feel comfortable. The last package I got seems to be OK so the other ones gotta go. Too bad I only wore one of the panties in those packages and the rest are brand new. Can I donate them if they haven't been worn? Hate to throw them out.

Got the kitty water bins cleaned and refilled this morning.

Good night!

I think Barbie if the package has been opened they can't be donated which is too bad seems like such a waste when I am sure that someone could use them ... it's the same way with socks
from what one of nieces said the problem with mom's car is that it doesn't get enough exercise so then things freeze up and guess that is what happened... so guess even if mom doesn't want to go anywhere I will need to take it out where I can drive perhaps even faster... so many areas here it's 55 or less
did get the laundry done between that and going to the store and reading until way too late last night or should say this morning I am tired... although I do have potatoes cooked and eggs cooked as well will make a potato salad tomorrow...
my nephew and his family are coming for hot dogs tomorrow so making potato salad have chips and watermelon should work ...
hallmark does Christmas movies the month of July for some reason they decided to add a week or more to it and its been going on almost a week and already have had a rerun from this week don't get the extra time and diffidently don't get reruns of reruns when they have so many movies to play just my thought for what it is worth!!!
something else I was going to expound on but forgot what it was...
will try and remember to do rabbits but before my excuse was Shadow now it's mom so much easier when you are on your own
I told mom the other day that I was used to being on my own and no one to visit with and thought it was pretty much the same for her we have forgotten how to be conversationalists :o :o we get involved in what we are doing and forget to visit...
well you all have a good day

Barbie it's an NFS CG. No electric. They do have a dump station and available water, but for two nights I didn't need either. It cost me $21 for 2 nights with my senior pass.
