I've never taken steroids regularly and the inhalers didn't work well for me so don't bother with them. This is probably the first time in a couple years I've taken the prednisone. I hate taking medications, too. I learned when I had that asthma attack 4 or so years ago that people (me included) don't know the desert can be much worse on them. It's true. I always thought the opposite. Certain weather changes are devastating. I wouldn't doubt that dog hair is a problem. I'll suffer through that. Scented, almost anything, including most aromatherapy ones, set me off terribly. It's life.

Beth, scents both me too. Mel would fill his palm with water and add a drop or two of his cologne or aftershave then apply to his face. If I needed to get close to him right after, it set my asthma off big time. It frustrated him terribly. People give me scented candles and I have to just get rid of them. I can use ventolin or it's generic if needed and it helps, usually only during fire season with smoke. I have a Proventil steroid inhaler which is my next resort. My Dr has to write a new RX yearly because mine go outdated before they get used up. I think I've used 3-4 puffs total of the steroid in 12 mo. I'm with you on disliking medications. If ot were not for summer smoke, I probably wouldn't need to keep the inhalers on hand.
