Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday

Morning All, another chilly day. Waiting for email from Walmart that my pickup order is ready. The order has ingredients for fudge which I will make this weekend. Each family member will get a small box of fudge. This will be the first Christmas Eve I haven’t hosted our family gathering in 50 years. The plan was for the youngest granddaughter to take over in the family house but certainly not under these circumstances. Spring will come, flowers will bloom and “ it will get better”. Be safe

Good morning Shirl and all who follow. Discovered that my land line phone was not working. Called Frontier and they sent out Mark, the repairman. He introduced himself and went to work outside. Next thing I know he is driving off in his truck, but the phone isn’t fixed. Must be coffee break!!!! Slow day here, but I’m grateful.... Peggy

Good morning Peggy and Shirl, and all who follow. Sun is shining through my window and we are headed towards 50's, after high 30's overnight. Plan a quick trip to nearby grocery , then spend day wrapping and maybe get some stamping in. Not a lot of other excitement here, so call that my itty bitty news for tne Friday before Christmas. Thus year feels like both the longest and shortest year ever.

Peggy, that's what the phone man did here. He messed around in the two boxes by the road and took off. In a little while he calls me on the house phone. The problem was a mile down the road at the main boxes. Hopefully you will get your phone working. Most people have gotten rid of their house phone. I like having it because the people that insist on having a phone number and I don't really want them calling me, I give them the house number. They can leave a message on the answer machine.

It's 55 this morning and windy. It feels colder than yesterday because of the wind but at least it's sunny. They finally picked up the pile of limbs in front of the house this morning. It only took two months. If I had a chain saw I would make fire wood out of some of the limbs, like I need to be messing with a chain saw. I don't know what I'll do today. My son said he was coming this afternoon to bring my ham hocks. We'll see if that happens.

I made a batch of cranberry sauce this morning. I seem to do most of my cooking in my PJ's. I use to make pralines for most campouts but didn't this year. Some wanted to know where the pralines were. I'll have to make some for New Years.

Marth, I keep my landline for the same reason, plus having phone and Internet gives me discount on each enough to make it worth keeping. I can let a call come on the landline and then hit CPR call blocker and they can't call again. I don't like answering my cell phone when driving, so I like to have people who I know need to call me, such as Dr office use the landline. Yes I have voicemail on cell phone too, but it's always easier to understand the recordings on landline voicemail than cell phone voicemail. I don't know why, but almost always messages on cellphone are unintelligible when listening. Even the auto transcriber often says it can't transcribe because it can't understand. Also it's convenient, when I need to make an appointment, to have calendar on my phone open while calling on landline. I can switch back and forth on cell phone between call and calendar but it just feels easier to have calendar in front of me with phone at ear or on speaker. If I ever move, I may give up landline, but for now I like having it. And of course, living in the city in Northern California, our phone almost never goes out , but it is nice to know I have both cell and land lines, though my landline isn't a true land line anymore as it runs through the digital modem, so if Modem goes down, sometimes we lose phone ( maybe twice in a decade for brief time until they get here or until they reset from office), though they provide a Uninterupted backup battery for it.

Good morning gals!

I started out yesterday with good intentions. :D I gathered up and took out the trash. My kitchen trash bag was full and very heavy (I cleaned out the fridge) and as I was taking it out to my golf cart, I pulled some muscles in the middle of my back. I ended up leaving that bag next to the dumpster since there was no way I was gonna be able to lift it up and in there.

So that pretty much put me out of commission for the rest of the day. I have been just laying in bed since then with ice on my back. Luckily, the pain isn't nearly as bad as it was when I pinched the nerve in my lower back last year in the dentist chair. I should be fine in a day or two. I postponed the cabinet getting put together and put up in the house for now until I can move around better. No hurry on that.

Will lay low again today. Nice and sunny and breezy outside. Might go sit outside for a bit.

Sheila, that is a lot of books! And I thought I had a lot! What are you going to do with them?

Beth, I hope your co-workers get good news on their Covid tests! Then you can relax and enjoy your time off. I haven't watched the news for over a week now so I have no idea where we are at with numbers and percentages here. I imagine it still isn''t good. I imagine the Thanksgiving cases are showing up now. I got upset on one of my FB groups when someone poo-pooed the whole Covid thing and I made a blunt comment about it. I haven't been on that page since then to see if there was any backlash to my comment or not. I just get so angry with people like that! There have been several people who are owners in the park here who have died recently of Covid. Luckily for us, they weren't here with it. They were snowbirds and hadn't come down yet this season. I didn't know any of them but they were well known within the park by many others.

Have a good day!

Still here at EXPO RV Park in Napa. Most of you know that I am a planner and make reservations many months in advance, so not knowing what is happening is driving me crazy. Talked to camp host, and he said they had not been given instructions to close the park, so it is open as far as he knows.

It went down to 35 last night, and my propane was really, really low, so I had to go out today and get a fill. I don't like the road I have to drive on to get there because there are almost no shoulders and very deep ditches on either side, but luckily not too much traffic. This should last me another two weeks. Been running one of my small electric heaters, but it is not enough at night. I have two electric heaters, but I loaned one to my son because their furnace has been out. Repairman has to order a part, so they do not know how long it will be out. They bought one new electric heater and got the one from their trailer that is in storage, but their bedrooms are very spread apart. Anyway, glad to not have to worry about propane for a while.

Knee is doing well, as is elbow, but the bad scrape on the top of my foot is still seeping and is really sore. In fact, I skipped my nightly shower last night because it had stung so badly in last shower. Will shower tonight, stinging or not. Glad nothing was broken!

Sorry to hear about your back, Barbie. Pretty much everyone has been wearing masks around here. And, three cheers for Tom Cruise's yelling at the crew filming his next movie for their not wearing masks!!

Judy, can you put a plastic bag over your foot in the shower?

My back is still a little sore but am getting around better. There is a golf cart Christmas parade thru the park tonight so will be out in my driveway watching that.

I finished painting my house plaque. Should be getting the lettering tomorrow. I was thinking of naming my place "Casa De La Gata" but realized that translates to "cat house" rather than "house of the cat".  But I like the new one I came up with even better. :D

...later...Got an email that my lettering arrived today so went to the mailbox and got it. I put the letters on the plaque and it looks good! Need to add at the bottom, "2019" for when I moved in. And then seal it, add hooks at the top and get it hung up on the front of my carport.

Also, the parade came by. Was ready with my chair out in the driveway and my hot cocoa with Baileys Apple Pie mixed in. Yum! The carts came by two by two so it didn't last as long as if they had come by single file, so it was a short parade but was fun to watch. One couple handed out candy by putting it in a small cup at the end of a long stick and reaching it out to me. Very clever!

My incision is itching which is driving me crazy but also means it is healing. :D

not an overly productive day but then Friday's rarely are... did go get some bread from the farmer's market we consumed two loaves of it with our Hobo Stew... sure tasted good
watched a free concert from the Utah State University only half hour but very good
have a neighbor but wished he wasn't quite as close... all the desert to park in and he chooses my side yard  if it was someone I knew it would be different but oh well perhaps he won't be here long... it's just a utility trailer with 3 solar panels on it fairly large ones at that... will have to be more careful of the time I've been late turning off the genny figure no one close enough to hear what does it matter???
did get some paper so now I could wrap mom's gift if I hadn't left it in the truck  but need to find a box to put it all in someone picked up boxes for my friend said they were the largest the post office had... and don't think they are big enough
I took my books over to my friend she will read them then hopefully they will make it to the park's library... and I miss counted at least another bag of 20 perhaps two bags but not sure guess I could go recount them or have Mel do it... but now they are not at my house... none of my kids have answered back about the printer... did talk to my eldest she was concerned about it being compatible with the new devises so it may just go to the dumpster... but will deal with it after Christmas...
Hopefully Peggy's phone got fixed
some of Martha's pralines made it to a get together here don't remember who brought them but sure were good
Hopefully today found Tina feeling better
you all take care
