Smokey Morning Tuesdsy

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Smokey Morning Tuesdsy

The western fire smoke has settled over us again. Sun was muted all day yesterday. Once in awhile we could see a bit of blue sky. Supposed to clear out later today as the winds shift. I can just imagine what it Must be like for those of you who are living where those fires are.

It’s really shocking looking at the pictures that Karen posted yesterday. Nothing leftbut a pile of ashes and twisted beams. Thankfully everybody got out or at least I hope everybody got out. I haven’t heard whether somebody maybe didn’t. I did however read that some did lose their pets unfortunately.

Going to be another sunny day here in northern Michigan as A we are in the midst of a warm-up. Actually a little bit above normal temp wise. I am planning to clean my trailer today and get it ready to leave for my last trip of the season. Hoping to see some pretty fall color in the UP. And of course it’s going to get colder again. Oh well, I’m packing the cold-weather clothes and making sure my propane tanks are full and I have my electric heater. Took my truck in yesterday and had that serviced and my tires rotated, new wiper blades and all the stuff. So good to go there.

Otherwise pretty much same old here right now. I am caught up on my chores are out here and soon as my lawn tractor home maintenance kit comes in at the dealer, I plan to service my lawn tractor and also my snowblower, so they will be done for the season as well. The tractor to be put away and the snowblower to be ready to roll. I always change the oil, spark plugs and air filter on my tractor in the fall so I don’t have to mess with it in the spring.

Oh guess I should finish having my breakfast, having a protein shake and a muffin, and get my act together around her here. Have a nice day everyone and stay safe.

A wonderful cool morning here in SW Ohio, except that I was suppose to be on the road heading East. It was to be my inaugural trip out in the Roadtrek with stops to see Lori in PA, Peggy in CT and my son's family in Brewster, NY. It is a good thing I am not a smoker or that I did not try to run my frig on Propane yet. As I returned from one last run to the store last night in the Honda, I noticed a gasoline smell that I earlier had put off to having just filled the RT gas tank. Nope. What is the spot under the there? Why it is a slow drip, drip of gasoline under the vehicle! SO this morning rather that head across Ohio I turned the refrigerator off entirely, unplug from electric, pushed the battery disconnect and drove the rig of over to the mechanics. Now I get to wait to hear the verdict after they explore the underneath. Glad that my nose and eyes were working well enough to figure it our before I hit the mountains of PA.

My next schedule trip it to a camp at a dog show in northern Ohio the first weekend in October.......

Sigh. I am glad to have had issues here before heading out though. These are small road blocks in life and minor detours. What I did like was that this morning when I walked in the rig to take out my medicine and a couple of my jackets and a pair of walking shoes, I felt disappointed. The rig felt right somehow and promised to wait for me after "surgery." I was afraid that buyer's remorse would overtake me, but, no, it feels like mine inside......

Sue, I know you're fall colors trip should be magnificent. Colors here are late, but starting to change. So far more muted. Tina, I'm so excited by your last lines. "I was afraid that buyer's remorse would overtake me, but, no, it feels like mine inside......" and that's a wonderful feeling.

I'm working 1-9 pm today and tomorrow. Ty is going to be very confused when his dinner time is passed by... And passed by, etc. But I promise he'll be thrilled with his late dinner. He'll be thrilled with the late walk, too.

Things are wrapping up at the store. It's unbelievable how busy this month is. I bought extra and it's gone. We're completely out of so much. I can't figure out how we're getting the sales we are with so many empty shelves.

Tina, glad you found that leak before you hit the road. I know that "it's mine feeling" and I don't think you could explain it to someone. When I was looking for my third motorhome I knew the floor plan I wanted and looked at some and they just didn't feel right. When I found the one I bought I knew right away it was the one.

I got the mower to the shop. It will be ready for the spring except I don't think I ever stop mowing. lol

We aren't getting the rain that was predicted. It looks like Houston is getting most of it. It's back up to 80 and very humid. There is kind of a misty rain. I hope that storm doesn't make a U-turn and head here. Now they are saying it will go more North to central Louisiana. I need to get in gear and get things loaded to leave Thursday.

Rascal is looking in the window of my office. I guess he wants back in. He is turning into a lap cat but still likes to attack my feet. His brother doesn't understand why Rascal gets to come in the house and he doesn't.

Good morning gals!

They are scalping the lawn here this week. Right down to the dirt. So dusty and a big mess all over. I forgot to close the windows in my porch so that will have a layer of dust on top of the layer that is in there already.

Need to get up and get things straightened up around here before the AC guy comes by. I sure hope we can resolve this problem soon! I think he knows how pissed I was yesterday when I sent him the text message. I usually write things nice and thoughtful, but that one was right to the point. I actually had to edit some of it.

Beth, that is a good problem to have, lots of sales and not much left over inventory!

I need to get my new phone set up and activated so I can make some phone calls later today.

Enjoy your day!

I got to Dead Horse Point SP yesterday, but spent the late afternoon just relaxing--find I need to do more of that as I get older. So this morning, I had some breakfast and made a reservation for tomorrow to take a tour down in the valley just off this point. It is four hours long and also goes to part of Canyonlands, so I need to take my senior pass with me. I was considering renting a 4X4, but it would have been about $250 for half a day, and it made me a bit nervous, so this is better. The road is paved for part of the way, then becomes gravel, and finally goes up the canyon wall on a series of switchbacks. Anyway, better to let someone else do the driving.

So, as soon as I finish snacking, I will get my bike out and go for a ride to the SP visitor center and then to the point to take some photos. I have been here before, but only for a quick overnight. This trip I will be here 5 nights, which gives me time to do more sightseeing. Incredible view from the point, by the way, if you ever come this way. Don't have to stay at the park for the view, but there are two nice electric campgrounds here. Only problem is that you have to bring your own water as it has to be trucked in! I have plenty for a couple more days, and then will go to town to get a refill somewhere.

No moths this morning, but I am sure they will be back tonight. I am going to try one thing at a time to solve my problem. First, is to open slides a tiny bit and spray insect killer along the top from the inside, and then put them back out. Also will get my short ladder out and inspect the seals inside to see if there are any gaps letting light out and moths in.

My other problem is that for the past month or so, my allergies have been really bad from the smoke. I am back to coughing a lot and clearing my throat constantly. My doctor refilled a couple of my old asthma inhalers, so I am hoping they will help calm the irritation from the smoke down. Smoke is better, but it was enough a few weeks ago to kick things off.

Judy, be prepared for a bumpy ride on that tour! I have been on a tour like that in Arizona and they don't stop or slow down for rocks, ditches, etc. Have fun tho and take lots of pics!

I think I finally got my AC figured out. The AC guy came by a little while ago and said he thought maybe my remotes were set wrong. There is a timer function on them but the instruction manual doesn't really explain how to set it up or turn it on/off. When I went thru the manual before, I thought the timers were turned off on both. Turns out they were not turned off and were set to shut off the ACs at 5pm each day. I knew they seemed to shut down about that time so I was a bit suspicious. He shut both of the timers off now (I have no need for them anyways). He said he was on line for 3 hours last night trying to figure out how to do that since the manual made no sense to him either. Why the remotes were both set to shut off at 5pm from the factory, is odd. Well anyways I am glad that is taken care of!

Now for my phone issues. I transferred my old phone account to my new phone account and now neither one of them are working (for calls/texts, etc). So will have to play around some more and maybe contact Total Wireless on their website to see what I am doing wrong there. I am so not good at techie stuff!! Give me a paintbrush or a scissors, and I am good to go! Give me a computer, a phone, a DVD player, etc, and I am totally clueless! I guess we all have things we are good at and not so good at, and even awful at! My next thing is to try and figure out my new GPS before our trip! :?

I made sloppy joes today and am now making brownies. The brownie mix says it is enough for a 8X8 pan but the batter didn't even reach the edges of the pan in a thin layer, so I put it in a loaf pan instead. Will see how that works. I had to borrow an egg from my neighbor since mine were not good anymore.

The state of CA has lifted some restrictions today so nail salons can reopen indoors, and limited seating in restaurants is allowed, etc. Our numbers have been coming down quite a bit now so they are slowly starting to get things opened up again. Much slower tho than the last time.

Temps are still above average for this time of year and now they say the temps will be going even higher again next week...oh joy!

PS> Got my phone working and the brownies came out pretty good!

I have been to Dead Horse Point and I don't think I would want to go down from there. I'm not a good passenger and I wouldn't enjoy that ride.

Barbie, hope you have your A/C figured out. I don't know who they get to write instructions for things but most don't make much sense to me. I am still figuring out my new washer. I wish it had a water level dial instead of set levels with the different settings. As near as I can see there are only 2 water levels, little water and a lot. I have found if I start one cycle and turn it off and start again I can get a medium amount of water. I had my boys to figure out my computer and electronic things and now it's up to me and I'm not very good. I probably need to find someone to work on my computer because there are things going on that I don't know how to fix.

I up dated my Garmin GPS this morning. Now I need to get out my other computer to up date the TomTom. The last Mac update doesn't work with the TomTom program. Every time something updates something doesn't work. There was a Safari update yesterday and now Flash Player doesn't work.

We still haven't received much rain from the storm. Now there is a big area of rain to the West. I hope it's not planning on heading East. Houston is flooding again.

The tour I am taking is not one of those "over big rocks" thrill rides. It uses regular enclosed four-wheel drive vehicles with AC. (Like a Jeep Wrangler.) The first 1/3 of the trip is on a paved county road that goes down into the canyon to a potash plant. The next 1/3 is on a flat dirt road that winds down the canyon and then goes up via several switchbacks. I watched them grade it today with my binoculars. The last third is a stop at the Canyonlands Visitor center and at a couple of pull-overs, and then a drive back to Moab on the highway.

There may be some bumps, but it should not be like the one I took at Monument Valley where we rode in what was basically a flatbed truck with seats welded on it!

I found a couple of "calm" rafting trips, but am not sure I will have time. I took a very nice calm rafting trip from the base of Hoover Dam last year. It went downstream 13 miles to my campground--did not even get my feet wet, and they provided sandwiches and drinks, plus a portapotty they put behind a bush. But you know bushes in the desert are not quite "bushy" enough for me!

I put both slides out about 4", then sprayed the crack from the inside. Put them back in and went outside to spray all the edges with Raid Flying Insect Killer. Went through a whole can, so hope it works. I went outside to look for light leaks and the only ones I could find were in my cab because my privacy drapes are not long enough. The window on my door is also foggy, but if the spray does not work, I'll tape it over. I also have material for the front to make longer privacy drapes, so maybe I need to start getting those made.

Don’t know if I have a left brain or right but have never had much luck with manuals. If there are pictures I am good to go. I buy furniture that has to be assembled. My carpenter son is my muscle and I give directions. Lol. I love YouTube it gets me through life. I hate all the new appliances in this apartment and I didn’t understand the directions in the skinny little manuals. Using the model numbers I found videos on YouTube to operate all. I stream AT&T, it disconnected and ask for my password. I had the password but no clue how to type it on my smart tv. My remote has stupid symbols which mean nothing to me. Thank you YouTube. It took me a couple hours but managed to connect again. I need YouTube twice a year to change the clock in my suv. :? But what else do I have to do. Lol Be safe
