Turn the heat on in Ohio Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Turn the heat on in Ohio Sunday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sun Sep 20, 2020 9:29 am

Thought I would specify Ohio because I know other areas of the country aren't ready yet and are just lucky to enjoy some relief from the high heat.

Curtains are in the van and I am trying to decide when and where I want to take it for a short camping trip to determine what other things I might need and or upgrade. Dog show in two weeks. I would prefer to problem solve before I head off to a dog show in it.

Lark is scared of riding in it. She has always been less that enthusiastic about riding in cars and vans but over time has decided that she might be okay and has learned to appreciate the destinations and tolerate the journeys to get places. She definitely does not want to be a navigator. And well, Audrey would rather not give up her front seat anyway, even if she only uses it to curl up and fall asleep. "Wake me up when we arrive," Audrey says.......

Find some magic in this day even if you have to make some of it yourself. Enjoy what you can and stay as safe and healthy as you can.

Good morning all, Tina taking your advice and going for a walk. It’s chilly on the shore but I am enjoying the cool air. Yesterday on the walk I heard my favorite little critter, a chickadee. Have missed them since moving in the apartment. Be safe

Still in AC mde here in Northern California at 88 degrees at 5:30 pm! Been a quiet day here. Not doing much. Sunday church still by virtual zoom. Have a steak thawing for supper. Been catching up a little on Ancestry. I have Curves to look forward to tomorrow. Some tint of smoke in sky and AQI is again unhealthy ! Ugh. Come on rain!
Have a good week!

Friday was my grandson's b'day so as soon as dd got home we left to go to their house for celebrations... enjoyed the evening but too late to really come up and get on the internet then Sat we went to Idaho Falls my dd to get a hair cut and me to exchange some yarn and hopefully get more but wasn't successful in that venture. I know that one should get all that they need when they get it which I did .... but then I started thinking that perhaps I would change my mind on the color I had choose for the border....so wanted to get more of the one I was thinking of using for the border just in case I changed my mind well they didn't have the right dye lot number so hopefully I won't change my mind ... with the last afghan I made I started wishing that I had placed my colors different but by then I was 1/2 through and not about to change my mind but I still wish that I could have... however I didn't want to have that problem this time...but unless I find the same dye lot number I guess the blue will be the border... my nephew wanted dark blue, red, orange, and either yellow-orange or orange-red.... found sorta yellow-orange or as close as I thought I could find... the yarn isn't the normal one that I use and I don't think it is as soft but oh well the yarn is bought and I will deal with it...I like to make them nice and soft and cuddly... actually got a pedi felt so good...
but when I got home the wind was picking up it was starting to rain and thundering... and I was tired and not wanting to go up to the house however we did order me a new MIFI after it comes I will be at home on my computer...
I am working on a afghan for my grandson for his baby blanket got yarn (not realizing that baby afghan's take a lot of yarn) I only got 3 skeins when I started a pattern I added up my oz and realized that the patterned called for 25 oz. I had 11 hmmm will need to do something... so my youngest dd got on the phone found the yarn in Riverdale Ut not far from my eldest dd so we ordered it paid for it I picked it up and took it home to Idaho found out that it was 2 or 3 different dye lots and only 5 skeins so that was the exchange they still had some of the right dye lot that I had gotten earlier several weeks in fact but only 4 skeins so may have to use the one I kept it's a variegated so hopefully won't show much.
Today is Sunday and normal activities other than at this moment we are only able to go to church a couple times a month so it was our off week... will be so glad when this virus is a thing of our nightmares...
did call my aunt something that I should do more often got caught up one news she is a couple years younger than my mom perhaps more... think she maybe in her late 80's mom will turn 94 next month... it was nice to visit with her...
I wish that I could remember something that I was going to mention about someones comment now I can't remember what it was or who it was or even which day so hard to go and look for it this happens so often
you all have a great day

Good afternoon. I got moved on Friday into the Homewood Suites. They are very nice and the people are super nice here. I went grocery shopping this morning as I had zero food. Guess everyone in town did also it was soooo crowded. I didnt get everything I wanted but tomorrow is a whole new day.

I met Laura and her Mom yesterday for lunch. I drove up and they drove down and we met at 7Feathers casino. She gave me quite the care package from you all. I cannot believe the generosity of my RV friends. I didnt want her to do anything but she insisted that people wanted to help. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It is a weird feeling to realize everything you have worked for and treasured your whole life is gone. But then I realize that I am one of the lucky ones as I was able to get Emma and myself to safety. Many lost their pets, mostly cats as they were hiding and they had no time to try and either find them or coax them out. My heart breaks for them. They have finally opened our park up and we can go in there now. I guess I will go tomorrow and look at the devastation in person. I also need to go to my storage unit and see what I have in there and also if there is any smoke or heat damage. I called the manager right after it happened and he said it was still standing but there is nothing but ashes all around the buildings.

I did manage to buy some underwear, socks, couple of sweatshirts, pj's, and a couple of tops when I was up in Grants Pass at the hotel. I think I have some clothes stored in my storage but not really sure. Laura's sister gave me some things but they are for much colder weather LOL and unlike Tina it isnt here yet. I am not sure where my mail is at this time. It was in a warehouse then I heard they sent it back to Talent but I do get the visual mail of first class and so far nothing exciting. The UPS store by this hotel is offering us free mailboxes so will check this out tomorrow.

I thought I would go to the store early this morning BUT I could not find my car keys anywhere. I tore this small room apart Checked my car and it was locked so knew I had them in order to lock the car. Asked at the desk...nope. Went thru the trash, every drawer, used my flashlight all over the floor. Thought I would check my purse one more time by emptying everything out of it. I did this once already but I am a die hard. I bought this new purse when I was in Grants Pass.....well it has a small pocket in the side of it that I slipped my keys into apparently. I was so relieved. I could just imagine what it was going to cost to make a new one. I think they can make one from your VIN number but now I dont need to find out.

Again I cannot begin to tell you all how much I have appreciated your gifts, cards, words of encouragement. Ya just need those words sometimes. I am doing pretty well tho considering. I am amongst fellow evacuees here at the hotel and we do some commiserating together. Last night we had a BBQ on the patio with their big grills and it was fun. They are planning another one for Tuesday night. This is just a "new normal" for me now. I admit I liked the old normal much better. But can't go back so I must move forward.

love you all
Karen

I usually have at least one key search every week. I have a side pocket on my purse that I always try to put my keys in but doesn't always happen. When I go shopping I put the keys in my pocket if I can. It aggravates me that new pants either don't have pockets or have very small pockets. Karen, glad you got moved into the new place. I hope the hotel has washers. I have a sleeping bag that needs to be washed but I just can't bring myself to go to a laundry mat.

I worry about my cats when I have to leave but it would be impossible to bring them all. For the last storm a couple of the vents blew out of the bricks around the bottom of the house. The cats were all under the house.

Didn't do much today. It was overcast and very windy but never did rain. The weather channel keeps saying we are going to get a lot of rain from the Tropical Storm Beta. I need to ride down to the end of the road and see if the water is rising here. There is coastal flooding South of New Orleans.

Some people have petitions going around trying to recall the Governor because of the shut downs and mask mandate. They have short memories. Louisiana was second to New York in cases of the virus because of Mardi Gras. People are still dying but they want to open bars. I don't know how they are going to get the schools open. They start up and someone has the virus so they are out for 2 weeks. Most of the state isn't capable of doing the virtual learning.

The mower needs to go to the shop because it's not running right. I have never brought it in because there is almost no parking by the shop. You almost have to park on the street. I'll see what they tell me tomorrow.
