Scorching Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Scorching Monday

Postby JudyJB » Mon Aug 17, 2020 2:20 pm

At least it is scorching in most of the West. Right now, at noon, it is 97 and supposed to hit 105 today. And this is in Washington State!!! I can't imagine how it is in Las Vegas or southern California! Not going to do much cooking today, obviously, but thankfully my AC is still chugging along, and I have been staying acceptably cool. Only problem was that I did not get to sleep last night until after 4 am. I should have turned the AC down so it would chill me off, as I do have trouble sleeping when it is warm.

Going to be short, as I have work to do.

Monday afternoon

I double checked even after I read Friday twice and Saturday and Sunday!!!! and there was no Monday!!! so I get to start Monday again for the second time such a record
Chilling out at my mom's watching Hallmark Mysteries... if I ever get the new receivers for Direct tv I want to get this station is an add on but think I would watch it often... many of the shows I like... right now it's Monk which I enjoy... was going to take mom out forget to mention it and didn't know until her meals on wheels came that she called and ordered another one a pretty good meal.. not sure who pays for it when she does that but :)
brought my Swedish Weave over to work on it's down to the "ending" part which consists of like 54 rows.... so it's not like it will be through in a quick time....and it's on both ends of the cloth. and it's not like it will get finished if I don't work on it
crawled into bed last night knowing that I was only getting a few hours of sleep almost asleep when I hear Shadow at the base of the steps (he doesn't come up to the bedroom very often any more) so I went down picked him up and took him up and plopped him on the bed almost missed then had to convince him that staying right there wasn't giving me enough room to get in as well.... he did move over
all of you have a great day

Hi Judy & Sheila!

Judy, we always turn the a/c temp way down when we go to bed. I understand you're in much warmer territory than we are, but Steve likes to be cold and I wrap up in multiple blankets. Sheila, I can't wait to see the afghan you're working on. I know it's going to be beautiful.

We took a road trip in the car today just to do something different. We stopped for lunch at a Mom & Pop diner that had outside seating. We drove across the C & D Canal, which is where the Chesapeake Bay & Delaware Bay meet. Steve's truck is ready at the mechanic's shop and we are beyond thrilled to get it back to take it to FL. That's our trip tomorrow. Then we need to make arrangements to find a hauler to get it to Florida.

I didn't sleep well again last night. Between grinding my teeth and my ears ringing, just couldn't get to sleep.

Got up this morning fairly motivated. Decided to finally tackle the laundry even with the heat. :o I took 5 load of clothes to my car and drove to the laundry room and hauled them inside. Discovered that we now have humidity to go with the heat, so I was drenched in sweat by the time I got in there! Later Candiss said she needed boxes and I just happened to have a porch full of cardboard boxes from Amazon deliveries so I brought them over to her. I had planned to take my trash and recycling to the dumpsters but I was so hot and sweaty and wiped out by the time I finished with the laundry, I just gave up on that for today, (clothes are all still out in the car cause I was too hot and tired to bring them in. They are already folded so I just have to put them away. Will do that later). So I am just hunkered down in my bedroom with my books for the rest of the day. I have the thermostat set to 75* but the AC can't get the house below 80* today so will stay in the bedroom where it it coolest.

Am also adding some contact paper to my bedroom cabinet doors to add some contrast and brighten the room up some. Just have one door done so far but it looks so much better. I want to do that in the kitchen too eventually.

I want to get a small group together for a going away party for Candiss but not sure how we can do that. It would only be like 5 or 6 of us, but it is way too hot to do it outside, nobody's house is big enough to have that many people 6 ft apart, and all the restaurants here are closed except for take-out and delivery. Will have to try to figure something out.

Enjoy the rest of your day! :D
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It won't be cool enough by then. We are leaving on Sept 12th and the highs will still be in the low 100's by then. It won't really start cooling off until October.
