Mardi Gras Tuesday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Mardi Gras Tuesday

Postby IrishIroamed » Tue Feb 25, 2020 7:50 am

Mornin' ladies~~~
Today seems to be geared towards food. IHOP pancake day, national chocolate covered peanuts day, clam chowder day, Paczki day, and let's all eat right day today. Yea, like thay will happen.

In Georgia now, exit 1, but it still counts. :) booked a ferry ride for Thursday to Cumberland Island National Seashore to see the Dungeness Ruins and the wild horses. Cold front moving in after today's rain, but cold in Georgia's is high 50s, so if it's not damp and windy, it may not be too bad.

Really nice state park here. Huge sites, about half with full hookups and trails, gators and armadillos.

That's all from me. Have a good day everyone.
Cheryl

Morning Cheryl and all who follow. Yep, definitely foodie day. My neighbor brought me 2 paczki yesterday. These are original Polish recipe and already had one. The big misconception is that they are big and filled with various fillings like prune, raspberry, blueberry. Lemon, apple and whatever else. But I found out, in all actuality, the real Polish paczki is not filled at all, but fried and then dipped in sugar or powdered sugar as soon as they come out of the fryer and eaten that way. For those unfamiliar with them, they are pronounced “poonch-key”.

Been AWOL here a few days I know. Been a bit busy. Yes O’Sharon, I did finish my painting. Decided to just do the bathroom in the same color I have in my living room and kitchen since it just goes so well with everything and had a whole gallon sitting in the basement. Turned out great. So that room is done. Now to pick something else for the other one.

We’ve been having some beautiful sunny spring,Ike weather these past few days with temps anywhere from mid 40’s to 50. My camping friends from the U.P. And I decided to head to Tahquamenon Falls to enjoy a great Winter day. It’s about a 2 and a half hour drive for us from our respective homes. I made a post with pictures in General Talk about it. Then yesterday I took the dogs for their favorite walk in the woods as no snowmobiles around. We have lost quite a bit of snow and the trails are pretty well chopped up with mush, slush and even a bit of dirt here and there. But the girls had a great time and ran off their energy. It’s all of 3+ miles.

So today I’m going visiting and then will be home rest of week. Need to finish a few little things in the bathroom and give this house a good cleaning. Got my taxes done and good news there, so that’s out of my way. Small RV show coming up in a week, so that will be fun. Weather has me thinking camping season.

But right now, better get this show on the road, so I can visit with my friends in a little while here. Hope you all have a nice day. Peggy, you snuck into n ahead of me :) Have a safe trip towards home.

I definitely am familiar with “poonch-keys” because if you work anywhere in the Detroit area, someone in your office will bring in a big tray of them on this day. Never had a non-filled one, however.

I have moved from my cousin's driveway south to a COE campground along the Caloosahatchee River. My uncle was hospitalized again yesterday. Caregiver took him to urologist and he was unresponsive, so they sent him to emergency room. I raced over and spent four hours sitting with him, then left because I had to drive down here. Tough getting a place to stay, and I don't want to keep bothering my cousin. I am here until Thursday, then at Myakka until Saturday, but need a place for March 1-2. If I can't find anything, I'll be headed to a no-hookup site in the Big Cypress. Don't know when they are going to release him, but might be today, so I will have to order wheelchair transportation and someone to accompany him.

Am going to concentrate today on getting caught up with work. Also need to defrost freezer, vacuum, and mop floor. I did a quick defrost of refrigerator cooling vanes last night because they were so frosted up from the damp Florida weather. Also, I have had two missing hubcaps for the last 3 months, and ordered a set of four because they were cheaper that way. My cousin put the two on, so now I have to figure out where in the heck to store my two extra ones. That will mean cleaning out somewhere in a pass-through somehow to find room. I am certain I will need them when, not if, another one falls off. Nothing like motorhome maintenance, maintenance, maintenance!

Good morning. We too are having great weather for this time of year. 2 years ago we had snow. Was 54 yesterday with a bit of a wind so felt cooler. Was 63 yesterday and Thurs and Fri 67....wahoo. Spring is on its way. I worked out in the yard yesterday, took the trash over and yard clippings. Today will steam mop the tile floors. Cleaned out my fridge the other day, I sure accumulate alot of junk in there ha ha

Mexican train day at my house today as I have a full week. One of the gals that plays with us her hubby has cancer so we kind of work around when she is available from treatment and MD visits. I see my eye doc on Thurs. Oh yea. Then am heading up to Salem to see Laura's new home and to go to an RV show in Eugene. Will be fun.

Cheryl, I had a boiled egg for breakfast but now I'm thinking of pancakes. lol I thought I needed one of the mini waffle makers but I'm too lazy to get it out. That really looks like a nice campground from your pictures. Have fun on your trip to the island.

My new tablet came yesterday and I would like to go to Lafayette to get the sim card put in it but the barn guys are here. I doubt they need to ask me anything. The Version place is open until 7:00 so I'll see what time they leave. Tomorrow I think they will work on the carport and I will need to move some things.

I turned my jeans legs up when I went out to feed and burn the trash but they still got wet. My shoes are soaked. I hope it doesn't rain for a week because the yard really needs to be mowed. I need to get some short rubber boots but never think about that until everything is wet.

Good morning gals! :D

I was rudely awakened this morning by the mowers and weed-whackers outside by bedroom window. I looked at the clock and all of a sudden remembered that it is Tuesday and putter day! I had 5 minutes to get up, dressed and out the door for golf!! Talk about waking up quick! It is warm and breezy today so that felt good and woke me up some. I played good today too! I also won money ($11) for coming in second place last week! :D

Need to get a few things done here before heading off to work later. Probably won't get back to painting trim again until Friday when I have the day off.

The Ferret Rescue in Phoenix that I brought supplies to last fall, got a text last week from someone wanting to surrender their ferret. The photo they sent them was of a gorgeous white ferret with black stripes on it's tail (very rare), so the rescue lady was excited to go pick it up. However, when she got there, she found the ferret covered in feces from head to toe, emaciated, with broken teeth and ulcers in its mouth, near death! She rushed him to her vet, with one of her rescuers actually doing CPR and mouth to mouth on the ferret to keep him alive. He is in very grave condition and barely conscious yet. Just a very sad situation. The rescue is going to press charges for animal neglect and abuse. I just don't understand how people can be so cruel! Just breaks my heart! :(

Lola hasn't been feeling too good for a couple days now. She had a little diarrhea again the other day. Will keep a close eye on her. She is still eating and drinking good tho. Just a little sluggish.

Have a good day!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
