Up and Running on Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Up and Running on Friday

Postby Colliemom » Fri Feb 07, 2020 8:27 am

God Morning y’all. Up and going here this chilly Friday morning. Protein bar and blackberries in the tummy. Will be heading to the shower pretty soon, then sme quick financial bookwork and off to town. Have some vinyl flooring tiles in the basement mechanicals room that have kinda popped up, so am regluing them down, but ran out of the glue. Few more errands to run too.

Otherwise nothing much else going in here. Just the daily dog walking, staying out of the woods now as snowmobile traffic is busier on weekends. Haven’t had any snow to clean up since Monday, so the blower is getting bored  Been doing nag some research and looking at possible camping/exploring ideas for August and beyond. Maybe even June.

But for now, time to head for shower and get things underway here. Hope you all have a nice day :)

Good morning all. Well, it’s really snowing today! Started as rain last night but earlier this morning it turned to snow and it’s coming down hard and fast with a good amount of wind. And again we seem to be on the edge of the amount to finally come down. So only time will tell how much we get. I hope those of you down south are doing okay after the storms you’ve had or are having. Nothing much else happening here. We had a beautiful day on Monday with sun and 60’s. I took pup in for his annual checkup and we actually got in a walk. He’s lost a couple of pounds so guess the walks are helping! And he is healthy so that’s good! I made a pot of been veggie soup yesterday and as usual made way to much! So I froze some of it for future meals. Sue, I haven’t been able to use my snowblower at all so far! Maybe today! Hope you all have a great day and travel safe if you are on the move.

Good Morning. Going to be a fairly nice day here today. 52 with sun and clouds, I will take it. Laundry on the agenda today and sweep and steam mop my tile floors. Clean bathrooms and then will call it a day LOL Need to find a new series to watch on Netflix, Amazon or Hulu....ya think I can find something LOL

Making a pot of chili this morning. I haven't had Chili for a long time so it sounds good to me. I will only make a small pot and then freeze the rest for a couple of meals. Breakfast this morning was a hashbrown patty and fried egg. Was very tasty.

Glad everyone from Florida reported in and all seems well after the big storm. I dont have anywhere I need to go today so will just do the housekeeping chores and save the shower for later.

We are having a sunny day for a change. It's 61 but no wind. I have been out several tunes without a jacket and it's not bad. Hope everyone in Florida made it through the storms.

I got my King Cake Bread Pudding made. The recipe calls for a glaze with 3 cups of powdered sugar. I don't think I'm going to put that. It is so sweet already it could put you in diabetic coma. I think it needed to be baked in a bigger pan. The recipe said to bake it in a water bath and I didn't have a lot of choice of pans that would fit. I still have to make a whisky sauce that goes with it.

I have been to town almost every day this week and still don't have all the things on my list. Guess I'll be going to town again. I'm trying to get everything loaded today. I just realized I had a meeting Tuesday night I forgot about. A lot of good printing the email and tapping it to my desk did.

When I bake I always cut the sugar in half and it doesn't seem to matter in the way it turns out. I write things on the calendar and forget to look, so every evening I put a yellow sticky note on the cabinet right above the coffee pot with what I need to do and what time.Today though we both forgot to tell Emma's trainer that she had a vet appointment and I had to call and say she was staying home today.
My vacuum quit so need to get it to the repair shop and hope it can be fixed. And my car is still in the shop for repairs, it's been almost two weeks.

A little sun today here and after so many days of gloomy skies it seems extra bright!

I intended to get back on the road today, even just a short jaunt, but decided to hang out one more day. So I did laundry and will dump and fill with fresh water and put everything away this afternoon.

Yesterday my friends took me to Borrego Springs to check out lots of the neat sculptures. In the middle we took a break for lunch and another couple joined us there. The weather was perfect and it was a fantastic day. Here's some pictures:

I love Borrego Springs. There is a very nice state park there with full hookups, where I have stayed a couple of times. Also at one really nice hike to a canyon with an oasis at the end--lots of big palm trees and even a small waterfall and a stream! It is a memorable place for me because I slipped on a rock on the trail and ended up sitting in a dead cactus. COuld not figure out how to get up without rolling into more cactus, but a couple stopped by. The man pulled me straight up and his wife pulled out 2" long spines from my rear through my shorts. Even with this experience I want to go back there sometime.

High winds and lots of rain last night but it only lasted a couple of hours, so not too bad. It was 84 yesterday, so i was happy it was only 70 today. Going to get into the high 80s end of next week, however.

Enjoying watching the boats go into the locks here at Ortona. Nice COE campground for only $15 per night for water and electric.

This week has been one of spending money on small parts to repair a few things on the rv.
Changed and led light fixture, replaced broken screen door slider, replaced broken airconditioner inside grill and tomorrow's job is to replace the whole house water filter.
Not any one big job but glad I didn't need to pay for service.
Beth, Borego Springs is on my list of places to visit in southern California, along with Joshua Tree and Death Valley. I am thinking I will do that when I leave here mid-March and then slowly head north.
Keep warm and dry wherever you may be.

I'll be headed in your direction, I'm guessing, early next week. Maybe we can get the dogs to the dog park? And see about meeting Eileen and Dave at the Desert Museum if you haven't been yet?

I just had dinner with Marnie and Rich and one of their workamping couples. I will head back towards Arizona tomorrow, but doubt I'll get that far. I love these short travel days.

LONG day! Worked almost 10 hours, was very busy, did 19 haircuts! My feet hurt and I am very tired! Off to bed here since I have to be back at work at 10am for another 8+ hour day! Whew! At least I can sleep in a little bit in the morning.

Borrego Springs is on my bucket list as well as Joshua Tree (it is in my back yard so no excuse not to get there!).

I need to make chili again. Last time I made it I didn't like it. Used the wrong sauce and it tasted too much like spaghetti. Need to go back to my original recipe.

Gotta wear my mouth guard tonight. Have been grinding my teeth really bad today and my jaws are sore. Too much stress this week and not enough sleep.

My doctor appointment went well yesterday. Dr says I have osteo-arthritis so just said to take Tylenol as needed and start exercising again. Need to get back to Planet Fitness! Also, all my bloodwork looked good except my cholesterol was fairly high, so will have to change up my diet some too. :(
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
