Calm after The Storm Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Calm after The Storm Sunday

Postby Colliemom » Sun Jan 19, 2020 9:59 am

Morning y’all. Winter Storm Jacob has moved on and the sun is out on this White Sunday morning. Not sure how much we had altogether but I’m guess 9 inches. I know I cleaned up 5 yesterday before the lake effect kicked in last night. Doesn’t matter, it’s pretty out there with the sun, blue sky and trees laden with fresh white snow. Will head out in a while to clean things up again. At least I will be outside getting fresh air and exercise. Definitely be a dog walk later as I’m sure the plows will be around once thty get the main roads under control.

Didn’t get everything accomplished I was planning to yesterday as decided to clean house instead of just vac, and once the main snow storm moved on, went out and cleaned that up, plus decided I need a brighter day to stain Window frame. Makes it easier to see what one is doing when you have more natural light. Won’t do it today either as going to be out enjoying this Winter wonderland around me here. Think the Christmas song “Walking in A Winter Wonderland”.

Barbie, I love chocolate and would have bought some, but I also know that sugar is a trigger for me and if it’s in the house, I won’t leave it alone. Want to lose my weight first and then I will Treat myself later. I have to admit, the quitting the Sweets, that I am more alert, not dragging around and think much better. I’m sure Karen will agree on that. Glad to hear the noise wasn’t anything serious so you can continue on your trip.

Marie, kudos to you and your husband for being involved in the cemetery wreaths. I don’t know if they do that in MI or not. Maybe downstate, but up here in the north, you can’t get into the cemeteries this time of year due to all the snow. Funeral homes don’t even do burials till spring.

Will be looking forward to reading about the GTG in Q and the one in Hardee Lakes will be starting sin after too. Cheryl, sounds like you Be having having some family GTG’s too. How nice.

Guess I should get going her and get outside. Time to go to work. Have a nice day everyone. O’Sharon, I’ll pass this storm in to you :)

Good morning Sue and anyone else. It is a chilly foggy morning here but supposed to warm up to 50° Yesterday warmed up to 56° So I am going to putter around the house until the sun comes out then have a bit of yard work to do. Not a lot just some picking up of trimmed bushes and leaves. That will be my project for today.

I woke up starving this morning LOL I am doing intermittent fasting the eat for 8 hours then nothing for 16. So I am on the 8-12-4 meal schedule. So far it has been working fine but I didnt eat enough yesterday at 4. So today I held out until 8am then had sausage, cheese, and egg omelet. Now I need to time it so I eat something at noon. Sugar isnt really a huge trigger for me on a regular basis but I still dont buy it to have in the house or I would be tempted. Chocolate is just a sometimes treat if I feel like some. I am more of a carbs person so that is hard for me now on low carb diet. I dont really like fruit so much so that helps with sugar. I do eat some blueberries tho and occasional grapes. I love all vegetables so that is a plus. I am not on keto just trying to eat healthy with less carbs. I dont eat a lot of processed stuff, I like to cook so another plus. Going to pop some pork chops in the pot today, enough for 2 days.

I want to get my walk in today as I was a slacker due to rain and snow but felt good to walk yesterday and of course the dog is always happy to oblige.

okay time to put the pot on and clean up the kitchen.

Good morning. Guess this is where I should thank you, Sue! So nice of you to share this mess with me! I have no real idea of how much snow we actually got but don’t think it was as much for our area as predicted. In the afternoon it started to sleet and by evening the temps went up into the mid 30’s so it turned into rain. I watched the news at 11 and decided if I was going to get the mess off the sidewalk it was time to do it then rather then wait until today when the temps went back down and it turned to ice. So there I was at 11:30 or so out all bundled up shoveling the front sidewalk! Also did enough in back to be open the gate to be able to get the car out. What a heavy mess. It was like shoveling ice water! Needless to say when I came in at midnight I had gone from warm and cozy and ready for bed to wide awake! All that fresh air will do it to me! I’m a lousy sleeper anyway but last night was really crazy! And snow is still flying around today! Sadly this isn’t a snowblower kind of snow. So with luck we’ll get some sun in the next day or two to help get rid of this. I’m sure glad I have a chiropractor appointment tomorrow afternoon! I have to giggle reading about the temps some of you are experiencing! 50’s or 60’s sound mighty good to me right now! I had my second shingles shot last week and it really knocked me for a loop. Had about 24 hours of flulike symptoms. I knew it might happen. I had a slight reaction to the first so wasn’t real surprised to the second one doing that to me. I had talked to the pharmacist about it and she said that they were hearing that the second which is exactly the same as the first doing that. But it sure beats the alternative! Been enjoying hearing about all the planning for summer travels! Märtha, I’m with you. I’d never go anywhere if I had to go through all that! Okay, it’s officially afternoon here and I really need to get the rest of my laundry done so I’d better get to it! I’ve babbled enough! Have a great day and enjoy doing something fun today!

It's a little nippy here for a change and we got another inch of rain. I don't think it's suppose to rain again until Thursday. Hope I can mow some of these weeds before it rains again.

I was going to get my service book for the motorhome when I went to feed but can't remember to do two things. Forgot the book. My motorhome needs to be serviced. I doubt the Ford place will take this one because of the length. I will call the shop we have used for years and see if they can do it. Hope I can get them to do it while I wait so I don't have to find a ride home and back. That's such a pain.

I went fishing yesterday. The fish weren't bitting much but managed to catch 3 mud catfish. I am trying to get the trash fish out of the pond. I was hoping the alligators had moved on because I hadn't seen them in a while. No such luck, I saw 2.

Good Morning, I went all the way to the organ pavilion on my scooter! Took 45 min. The reason I am doing this experimenting is because these is absolutely no parking in Balboa Park after about 10:00 AM on Sundays. Our city is getting very crowded. Still lots of apartments going up all around downtown. Expensive apts too. Across the street from me is a parking lot that will be turned into a 43 story Ritz Carlton hotel and condos! There will be five floors of under ground parking. So, lots of dirt to remove.
Still love living downtown. Lyn

I drove through the National Cemetery near Myakka State Park just before Christmas. I had been told it was impressive with all the wreaths. I don't know how many graves there were, but it had to be many thousands, and every single one had an identical wreath. I can see how many hours that must have been spent by employees or volunteers doing this every year, but it is certainly very impressive.

(Just did some quick research. This is a 195 acre cemetery with only 60 acres currently developed. Opened in 2008 and has room for 25,000 graves. It did not say how many are currently occupied.)

I did not post any photos on my blog because I was not aware of how appropriate that was, but here are two photos since this was mentioned in a couple of posts yesterday.

It's so much fun visiting with everyone. The group is spread out and staggered (time wise) getting here. Spread out with as many in various rv parks as boondocking. And Sandi will be in a motel when she gets here. Staggered in that someone is coming and someone else leaving almost daily this week. And we've all seemed to have some maintenance issues. The weather is close to perfect this year (especially if you're not an early riser like me ... And Sheila... And Brenda). The sun has a chance to warm things up.

I stopped at the rv show briefly today. I think I'm going to bite the bullet and switch to the Invisibrake braking system for my toad. I've already overspent this winter, so what's one more big money item? This car best be good to me like the last was! I'll make a final decision in the morning as they give discounted installation here and it's done by the manufacturer, so it makes it a better deal. Still a chunk of change going out. Dang it's easy to spend LOL

Time to try to get some sleep.
