And It's Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

And It's Thursday

Beautiful day here... But so boring. Store is way too slow. Oh well. Only 5 or 6 weeks left to the season.

Hope everyone is well. Do something fun!

Beth, pretty soon you’ll be rolling to somewhere warm, fun!!

Just got done making a big (late) bacon and egg breakfast, first time I’ve tried bacon in the oven and it worked great!

Errands this afternoon, have to get my new lenses put in, bifocals for the very first time, not looking forward to trying to get used to them. Last time, ten years ago, I got the no lines and spent a few weeks very nauseous; this time I’m getting lined ones. Feels like a waste of money since I’ll have my cataracts done in the next few months, but I need them for the new job.

Hi Beth & Mickie~~~
Just checking in. I'm up at Wisconsin Dells for a few days. Really a tourist trap now. What a difference since I was a kid many moons ago. I think I was 6 then.

Have a good day ladies.

Be careful about tripping with your new bifocals, Mickie. They can be dangerous at first.

I have got to get up earlier and eat sooner. My habit has always been never to eat as soon as I get out of bed, but I am now getting shaky when I do that. Been sleeping in, also, for a lot of reasons: not getting to bed early enough, pain meds all last week, and not sleeping well. I am going to try to slowly work my getting to bed time and take a melatonin before I get in bed, then setting my alarm a little earlier each morning. I've been slowly losing weight in the last couple of weeks because the pain meds for my stent made me not hungry--felt like I was always just a bit sick to my stomach. Don't need them anymore.

I went to Wisconsin Dells a couple of years ago after not being there in 30 years, and I agree that it is a horrible tourist trap. Yuck. Niagara Falls is even worse.

Thanks, Judy. Walking out of the optometrist office was certainly entertaining.

I haven't been to the Wisconsin Dells for probably 30 years and it was a tourist trap back then. The boat rides are nice tho with the surrounding scenic dells.

Lola threw up twice today. Not sure what is going on. May try putting her back on the anti-biotics and see if that helps. She is still on the prednisone. Same food too, so that can't be it. Just when I thought we were over all that!

i skipped Curves after work because my tummy wasn't very happy after eating vegan fried rice for lunch from Whole Foods. I stopped at Goodwill for awhile hoping my tummy would feel better after shopping but it didn't so just went home. I did find some cute tops and a cute pair of jeans there. Now I need to go thru all my clothes again and get rid of stuff I no longer wear. Don't have a lot of closet space for all of it. I have 6 drawers of t-shirts! I want to get rid of at least half of those. Also get rid of a lot of my black work clothes since I no longer have to wear black to work.

Was really busy at work today! Finally! Have tomorrow off. Lots of things to get done around here tomorrow. Will get to Curves tomorrow too.

My SIL said she will be bringing my brother down to Phoenix next Wednesday. Hope all that goes well. Then I will plan a visit there in a week or two after that for a few days.

I just read that Sunday is a free entrance day for all National Parks for their anniversary. I might just have to drive thru Joshua Tree and check that out a bit. It will be hot but I can pretty much stay in the car and just drive thru it for now. Will go back when it cools off in the fall to check it out more thoroughly, maybe with the trailer, since there are several camp grounds there. I think I will have to boondock since I don't think any of them have hook-ups.

Hot again today but hopefully will finally start cooling down some. We are under an odor alert for smelly dust blowing up here from the Salton Sea. Hydrogen Sulfide is blowing in from the dried up areas around the shrinking Salton Sea. I could smell it this morning on the way to work. Smells like rotten eggs.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

It thundered and lightened all morning but never did rain. I decided to go to town. I looked at the radar and all the storms looked to be just off shore. When I got to town it was raining so hard I could barely see the road. I made it to the post office and just sat there for a while until it stopped. I wanted to go to Lafayette and the storms looked like they were moving North so I took a chance and went. I wanted to go to the Shoe Station and see if they ever got any leather Nike tennis shoes. Still none so got some New Balance. That probably means that next week Nike will have leather shoes out. lol I thought about getting some rubber boots but the nice ones are $140. I know I have some around here somewhere.

Sorry to hear Lola is having problems again. The stray cat that showed up here 3 months ago and had 5 kittens is going to the spay and neuter clinic on Monday. This morning one of her kittens was missing. I sure hope there isn't something coming around. I shut up the other kittens tonight.

I live about a half mile from a fish processing plant. When the wind is blowing from there it probably smells a lot like the Salton Sea. The first time I smelled the plant I was outside looking for something dead. I worked there for 11 years and they would tell us that it smelled like money. lol Everyone that had an old car drove that to work instead of a new one.

sounds like it smells like parts of Yellowstone!!!
been to Sultan Sea not overly impressive... had dead fish around it then...
Shadow is out basking in the dark I keep thinking he will let me know he is ready to come in... I am about ready to close the door and windows was a over caste day today... never got very hot...
did finally get my dishes done and a couple rows on the afghan... heated up the oven and heated up a Marie Calender pot pie... tasted good but way to much...he is barking not sure if it's let me in or there is something out there and I am going to bark and annoy the neighborhood bark
feed the birds as well besides watering the outdoor plants and talked for an hour with my sister... not sure about her insurance and she works for them... have suggested that she get a lift chair the usual is can't afford it or it won't fit in the living room... my solution to it is get rid of the couch have of it can't be used any way... or if not then just deal with it taking up more space... as to the cost I googled rented lift chairs got new ones as well they have them at around 500 or less or more... but I really think it would help... she has a spacer in where her knee would be ahhh he is wanting to come in
I hope that things get better for her and she will soon be able to go home

I'm finding it interesting how many of us are having cataracts removed! I called Dr office today to ask about the new lens he had said was coming and apparently they are expecting it's arrival any day. So she set my pre-op for Oct 18 and surgery either Nov 5 or 12. My Dr was one of the research Drs on the new lens so he is already comfortable with their use. I'll let you know more when I learn more. I have worn bifocals , lined type to start and trifocals both lined and transition, for many years now, at least 20, partially due to severe astigmatism. I had almost no adjusting at all. They just didn't bother me. So I'm pretty certain I'll have no issue with IOLs that are multi focal. He intends to let me try multifocal contacts so I can get a idea. And yes i know how much more expensive it is, but we had long ago decided to set aside the $ for it partially based on how unhappy Mel was with the vision he ended up with having ne VA only willing to do the cheap lenses Medicare pays for. Over past few months, I've become tired of the difficulty seeing in low light. I still am nearly 20/20 with glasses but as sunset approaches or in the house where it's not full daylight, I get tired of straining to see. So I have a little normal anxiety re surgery yet am very excited to go without glasses for first time in 69 years! Maybe I'll save on electricity not having to have every light in the house on day and night so I can see to read! :D
Meanwhile, I got a lot done today. I removed Mel's name from phone service for our land line. Had pest control here to spray for carpenter bees which damaged last deck and were trying to find a place to start on new deck! I packed and loaded 4 big garage bags of clothes etc to take to Deseret donations tomorrow. Have an appointment now for next week to see about why propane pilot on van fridge lights but main burner won't come on. Set appointment with city to pick up more of Mel's electronic junk collection! And finally got Verizon to finish fixing the mess created by Cellular sales from which I got then Returned immediately a Hum device that was supposed to let me have hands free talk in van but which wasn't compatible. Verizon finally just took it off my account themselves, after they have called Cellular sales place with me on phone several times. I'm pleased that Verizon simply wrote it off and will fight with the company later saving me having to fight for refund. so overall a very productive day and week. Tomorrow Chris has his quarterly psychiatrist visit and we go by Deseret.
Have a good rest of week and weekend. wish I could make it to Eagle lake this year, but with generator and fridge on fritz, I'm going to focus on those with Q in mind for January !

so hope that you make it to Q Velda... am curious though why you took Mel's name of your land line account... it's suppose to be safer to have a male name or at the very least initial only ... just wondering
had the best corn that I've had for a very long time.. so yummy so over indulged  also made creamed potatoes and peas just one of those comfort meals... as well as ham
realized today that I am over half finished with the afghan... hoping to have something to celebrate mom's b'day in Oct if we do am hoping that my niece will be there and I can just give it to her... then I need to get the colors that my nephews will like think I will talk with both so that I can start another one when I finish the first..
it was cool enough today that the door was open but didn't open anything else need to close the door now though...
you all have a great day

I'm not concerned, my adult son lives with me and we screen 100% of our calls via a CPR blocker. I want all bills in my name and it's getting tiresome having days when only Mel gets mail or calls. Helps keep Mel's name from being part of spam lists when a look up doesn't show His name.

I had started putting accounts in my name after the hurricane because I was the one that saw about everything. If I talked to the phone company about something they always wanted to talk to Harold and he would tell them to talk to me. Same thing with Directv.
