Monday, Monday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday, Monday!

Postby Othersharon » Mon Jun 24, 2019 11:05 am

It’ll be afternoon here by the time I post this but good morning to all west of here and good afternoon to those of us in the east! Looking like rain this afternoon and the humidity will be heading up the next several days along with the temps. Not complaining though! Except for the pesky mosquitoes! They’re loving it!
Nothing exciting happening in my world, which after last week is just fine with me. Hope to take daughter in law out to lunch one day this week to get her out. She’s starting to go stir crazy now that she starting to feel better. Visited with her yesterday afternoon and she looks much better then she did on Friday. Her family is coming to visit today so that’ll help.
I wanted to get some windows washed today but not sure when the rain is moving in. Sounds like a good excuse not to do it today! Maybe anyway!
Hope you all have a great day and week.

Not much going on here. I’m getting ready to take the rig to Harp’s RV Service just north of Sacramento next Monday. I’m so tired of big dealers who service that want you to leave your RV. I just can’t do that. When you leave it, they just keep pushing you to the end of the line, and it could be a month or more to get it back. Also, I went to one place a few months ago and even though they sell Winnebagos which mine is, their service advisers seemed to know nothing when I asked specific questions. One who actually went inside couldn’t even help determining the type of bulb to replace one that wasn’t working. So, with recommendations from a few here on the forum, I’ll give Harp’s a try. I just want a place I can trust, and big dealers who service so far don’t fall into that category..

Since I’ll have the two slides serviced, yesterday I removed the mattress, topper and all the stuff I had stored around the bed. Can’t figure out why I had so many extra blankets! I thought I had done a good job of not putting too much stuff inside. Apparently not! I’ll make sure not to put too much back and take the opportunity to organize.

I woke up to rain this morning. I didn't get home until about 5:00 yesterday. I wish I had checked the weather. I might have been able to get a little mowing done. It looks like a chance of rain all week and I'm suppose to leave again on Thursday. We had a great time at the campout but I don't know if my nerves can stand another trip on I-10. The traffic was heavy yesterday but the only slow down was in Baton Rouge. I think the way they built the bridge where 4 lanes try to merge into 2 to get across the bridge causes the problems.

I have another meetup tonight at a Cuban restaurant. I didn't see anything on the menu that looked good. Maybe someone has eaten there and can suggest something. I have to leave early to pick up some medicine for Hank and some papers. I have been suppose to be working on getting information for the estate for the last week and a half. The lawyer doesn't seem to be in much of a hurry so neither am I.

Sandi, I think you get better service from a place that just does repairs and no sales. The dealers just want to sell something, not do repairs. I followed a service manager around the places in Lafayette for years because he tried to keep the service departments in line. I finally lost track of him and found a place that just does repairs.

Another lazy day. I got very little done yesterday other than watch golf on TV. Not feeling too ambitious today either but I need to force myself to get busy around here. It is too hot again to do anything outside but I have plenty inside to do. I got some decals for my golf cart but will have to wait til it is cooler out to put those on.

Finally got my slider adjusted so am happy about that. I can lock it again. :D

I saw an ad on CL yesterday for a cute Aliner in great condition and for a good price. It had only been posted an hour before but when I called, someone else had already spoken for it. I told the seller to call me if it fell thru. Many of those do not have AC but this one did. I have to have AC.

I have had my beta fish in a 5 gallon tank for the past year and he was doing pretty good, but when I moved, I put him in a small temporary 1/2 gallon tank for easy transporting and he is still in that (until I get the big one set up again). He is eating better now and is making bubble nests which he never did before. I think they make those bubble nests when they are content. I am wondering if maybe he feels safer in the smaller tank? Anyone know anything about betas?

I inherited (from the previous owner) a fireplace heater. It works nice and has a remote but I don't like the look of it and have no floor space to put it. I was thinking this morning that if I took the faux fire/space heater insert out of the cabinet, it would fit perfectly on one of the shelves on the built-in unit in my living room. I think I will try that. Will probably have to insulate the sides of the shelf with styrofoam sheets it to protect them. Usually the heat just comes out the front tho. I will leave space for air movement around it too. (It is a large, deep shelf). I have a small old-fashioned stove space heater that I had on a shelf at the other house and never had an issue with heat anywhere but from the front vent.

it would go in the lower/larger shelf:

Lola is doing much better altho still thin. No diarrhea for a few days now! Yay! Down to just 2 meds now. Prednisone and some probiotic powder I mix in her food. I do need to fatten her up some. Any ideas?

I got a call yesterday from Mary, the previous owner, from Greece! She is so nice! I had a few questions for her which she was able to answer for me.

I better stop procrastinating and get busy here...

Steve & I are at a campground near Deadwood SD. I am tired of riding days on end to get here and glad that we are settling in for a week to see the sites. I have beef stew in the crockpot for dinner and will make salad as a side. We are heading to Casper Wyoming and will be there for a week. I am exhausted and that's putting it mildly. We have driven through two time zones in the past couple days and my body is out of whack. Have a good day, everyone!

Ok, afternoon coffee! I had to do a stack of gov't paperwork this morning, so of course I took a nap after, and now it is raining AGAIN. Coffee is certainly needed.

Yesterday was sunny, and I hung out on a farm, so that was fun. The American Kennel Club has a new Farm Dog title, and local friends were running a test, so I was the Passive Stranger on the course. I am really, really good at being passive!

The funniest part was watching the part of the test where the dog had to wait while the owner fed a horse (on the other side of a fence). The horse figured out right away that it was going to get treats, and it kept throwing its feed tub against the fence as each new dog/handler appeared. :D This reminded me of the pony I had as a kid, who was always begging from people in the U-Pick orchard next door. By the end of apple season, she was always as big as a barrel!

Thanks, this gave me a good laugh. I had horses for about twenty-five years. By and large, horses are a lot smarter than most people give them credit for.

Thanks again!

my day was a lazy day as well... I did go quilting and got the mail, did feed the birds and did turn on the hot water heater...did I do anything after that???? not really played a couple of games... colored a couple of pages rather finished them up... and laid down for a bit... didn't nap but just laid there and focused on the tv... only spent a couple minutes up at the house. just didn't want to do anything of importance...
it's been 7 years ago this date that Larry passed away.. I still miss him but don't think that was my over all lack of desire to do anything...maybe tomorrow will be more productive

I didn't get much accomplished today afterall. I did put the decals on my golf cart tho. I parked it in the shade while I did it, but had to put some decals in the fridge to cool them off since they weren't coming off the paper correctly due to the heat. But I got it done and it looks really cute! I will post pics when I get a chance.

Also got the case of prescription cat food I ordered from Chewy.com. I have one very narrow cupboard in my kitchen that I couldn't figure out what to put in there. As it turns out, it is the exact width of a can of cat food! So I stacked the whole thing with the 24 cans of cat food. I hope she likes it!

I have been having trouble with my gas stove. That and the overhead microwave are both very old. The home inspector had trouble getting the gas stove to light but finally did, but now I can't get it to light. The dryer works so I know the propane is OK. Gas stoves scare me anyways but to have one not working well makes me nervous. So I decided to bite the bullet today and ordered a new one, and a new overhead microwave too. Won't get those delivered until August 1st. I will have to do with microwavable food for awhile, not that I don't usually go that route anyways. If I get desperate for cookies, I can use my little toaster oven. :D Still haven't found my regular toaster in the storage unit yet, so I bought a cheap one the other day. I can use that in a camper when I get one.

Time for bed...
