Happy Saturday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Happy Saturday

Postby BirdbyBird » Sat May 25, 2019 7:43 am

Happy, because I got to sleep in a bit but now am ready to head off for todays dog show. It is only 30 minutes away and ring time isn't till 1 pm. I think Josef can be handsome by then. I drove over yesterday after work and set up all the grooming equipment and plugged in a cord to be sure I had electric today. I didn't want to have to wake up early if I could avoid it with a little planning. Except for the 89 degree muggy heat expected and the thunderstorm popping up, I will be looking for some relaxation and enjoyable time spent with people and their dogs.

May everyone have some good adventures, accomplishments and laughter today. Mickie, congratulations on parting with your extra pounds. Changing life habits and learning new eating patterns is a journey that our knees, hips and back appreciate. Guess our hearts do to but they don't complain the same way.......

Morning all!

So true, Tina. I’m 30 lbs into a 100 pound journey and my whole body is already feeling lighter, stronger, and more capable.

Heading to the pool in a bit, then off to meet up with my bother and SIL later, don’t see them all that much since she became a traveling X-ray Tech, so that will be nice.

I'm trying to decide how much I want to go the lake. It's already 88 here in the shade. Since it's a holiday the campground will probably have a lot of people. I need to measure the kennel and see if it will fit anywhere in the motorhome. If I want to go anywhere it will have to be this weekend because my neighbors that feed for me are leaving on a 12 day trip next weekend. I need to find a pet sitter, my son isn't very dependable since he lives 30 miles away.

I woke up thinking it was Sunday. I'm glad the date is on my computer or I would never know what day it is.

I finally remembered what I wanted at the store when I was walking the dog yesterday. I wanted to look for some ShoeGoo to see if I could fix my shoes.

Geeze, Martha, your shopping sounds just like mine!

Josef will be very beautiful at ring time. Yay Josef!

Drew and I are going to start a canine freestyle class the first week in June. Should be fun! I expect we'll follow our usual pattern -- he'll be very good and I'll make a fool of myself in public! I'm looking forward to it, though. It's about two hours from here, but quite near the home of old friends. I'll be able to driveway camp with them and hang out the following morning. Goodness, I am going to be a social butterfly!

There were thunderstorms last night, so of course Drew leapt into bed with me. He wiggles a lot, and I didn't get much sleep. I see a nap in my future.

I've been up since 3 and I already feel like a nap is in order. Been out cleaning in the motorhome, bedroom is done, just need to make the bed. Can't believe how dusty it was, about choked me out! Hallway and bathroom is vacuumed but started getting too warm and the electric is not my 30 amp so not enough to run the a.c.. It will run but the voltmeter drops into the red so think that could damage the a.c., I don't know. Rather be safe than sorry. Can go out this evening and do the front half.
Two and a half days left of school, then wrap up my chores and plan my trip. I expect to leave here around fathers day. In case anybody missed my news, I'm heading towards Appleton Wisconsin where my dad will be living near my sister. They drive him and the cat out next week. I'm going out through Colorado and Nebraska, visiting a friend near Omaha. Will check the map and see who all is close along the way to catch lunch and a little meet up. Not sure after Omaha what roads I will take but staying far away from Chicago. Hahaha! Sorry for it to be a short trip but I have to be back to work end of July and kind of planning on being back by son's birthday July 24th so he doesn't feel forgotten. He's had a rough go of things for a few months. My deck is half done, the half that's done is actually usable but the rest will have to wait till after my return to work.
Off to make a sandwich, Ya'll enjoy your weekend holiday.

Nice quiet Memorial Day weekend Saturday in this campground--probably because it is raining and chilly! Supposed to be nice tomorrow, however, so will go out to pick up some prescriptions and groceries, plus see if my Penney's order is ready for pickup. Heading north of Monday so need to get stuff done tomorrow.

I decided to make some pasties, so will take some photos as I go and when they are done. I usually make four because it is a lot of work and that way, I can eat one and freeze three for future meals. The big thing is that I have room in my refrigerator right now, which is not always the case. I've been going through stuff and trying to get stuff eaten that I have frozen so I have room for more groceries! Does that make sense??

Son sent me a photo of his klutzy cat unhappily wearing a cone. This cat got an eyeball scratch at 8 months and had major repair surgery a couple of years ago when he got into some sort of fight. (He is indoors and outdoors, but neutered.) He has also fallen out of a tree in their yard a couple of times and has fallen in their pool trying to get a drink several times. He also periodically rolls off the bed at night. So the latest is that he apparently got his tail caught in the cat door and panicked, tearing some skin off. His sister and the other cat they have never seem to get injured or fall out of things. And yes, he has good vision because he was checked. Just not your average, got-his-act-together cat.

Alice~

Depending on what route you choose from Omaha, look for Core Of Engineer parks. There are alot of them along the Mississippi and other rivers on IA, IL & WI. Since it sounds like it will be a quick trip AND if you decide to take I-80 East, you can avoid Chicago by taking I-39/51 north near LaSalle IL up towards Rockford IL which is pretty close to the WI border.
Maybe Eileen (beazle) can give options too since she lives in WI.
Have fun!

Long past good morning, so I’ll just say HI! It’s branding day at the farm so I was busy this morning making 10# potato salad and 4 dozen kolaches for Ashley while DH smoked a brisket and pork loin on the Taeger. I delivered everything this afternoon and stuck around for a little while. There were several young wives and girlfriends of the guys helping Ryan in the house and I felt a little out of place. Kinda of like the MIL in the house was inhibiting their conversation! Bronc and Haddie had a slew of kids to play with, so I came home and took a nap! I was tired because I had Roxy (my friend’s dog) here last night and she woke me up about 3:00 this morning to go out and I couldn’t get back to sleep. So I finally got up around 4:00 and started the kolache dough.

We’re still getting an overabundance of rain. It’s getting really depressing. I keep thinking of my dad always saying don’t ever cuss the rain…..well I think he would be this year. The gravel roads are so bad that many of the cemeteries are asking people not to travel on them to decorate graves for Memorial Day. My sister called me on Wednesday and told me that the cemetery where my parents are buried has locked the gates and you can only walk in….then the next night they had another 1.5” of rain. So we decided we would have to pass on going this year. In fact there have been several funerals in this area where they couldn’t have the burial because the water table is so high that when the grave was dug it filled up with water.

I’ve been working on an afghan for Ashley to give to her parents for their anniversary. It would probably be going faster if there was anything decent on TV. When I finished it I have to start on one for a wedding present in October. JoAnn’s Fabrics mail order department is liking me!

Well that’s it for me today. Hope all of you have an enjoyable holiday weekend.

Alice, if you can take the Great River Road north especially in Wisconsin, but you could follow it prior to WI also, then cut over east to Appleton, you'll not go anywhere near Chicago and it's beautiful. Have a great trip.

It was wonderful to sleep in today. I woke up early and was thrilled to go back to sleep. Best... I can do it again tomorrow!

Because of the bad weather leading up to this weekend we won't have the sales we should. Nothing to be done about that. So not letting it get to me.

Pat, no rain here today, but it's possible again tomorrow. It was wonderful to have the sun and get up to 60 degrees today.

Tina, I'm awaiting word re Josef today. And Judy, I'm looking forward to your pasty pics.

Good evening! I am wiped out! :|

My handyman Bryan got here at 8am and we got going right away. Took the freeways all the way to Indio, 2 1/2 hours. Didn't take very long to unload the car and trailer which was good since it was already 90*. Then dropped off the trailer and headed to my new house. Picked up the Spectrum wifi box on the porch and showed him the out side of the house, and drove around the park a bit. Then stopped to eat lunch and headed back home. Took the mountain route back. He had never been that way so thought it would be fun for him to see it. The drive up the mountain is steep and curvy. I was in a line of cars going up, when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw this car right behind mine (so close I couldn't see his headlights!) and weaving back in forth! I was sure he was gonna hit me! I swerved real quick onto a gravel pull-out area next to me and he sped past me and passed the two vehicles ahead of me (one was a pick up pulling a large travel trailer) in a no passing zone on a dangerous curve and almost hit an on-coming car coming the other way! Just crazy!! And scary! :o

After that, it was uneventful and beautiful as usual. But all that driving today really took it's toll on me and I was stiff and exhausted by the time we got back to my house. Took a nap for a couple hours. Gonna take it easy tonight and go to bed early.

Will start in on sorting and packing what is left tomorrow. I hate going thru all the last minute stuff because it is all in the "miscellaneous" category and I never know what to do with it. It all usually ends up in boxes labeled "misc", never to be gone thru again. Will try to get some sense of organization with it since I have time. It is nice to have the majority of my stuff out of here and a whole 'nother week (8 days actually) to get stuff finished up. Need one day to work on the yard and outside of the house, and one day to clean the inside of the house.

Ava, you must be feeling better now. That should be a fun trip coming up, and I agree with Beth to try the River Road to Wisconsin.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

I think I spent most of the day in the car... went over to Dubois WY to leave flowers at my SIL's grave..been a year and I still miss her... saw lots of deer and a sign that said possible bear on highway watch your picnic basket... we looked but didn't see any bear.. have a "friend" that is lucky in getting pictures of the sows and babies... she takes really good pictures... some times I remember to share them but not all the time... one sow had triplets I think cutest darn things...
then we went to Rexburg bought flowers for the other cemetery and other stuff by the time we got all the chicken feed goat feed and bird seed plus all the other stuff the driver had a hard time seeing out the rear view mirror  after we meet at the cemetery we brothers and those of our families that can make it as well as my mom will meet at a motel for a pot luck my niece is the manager even get to use the swimming pool.. should be a fun time going to take the grill over. Have baked beans in the crock pot might make a desert tomorrow was going to make this eclair cake but not something that can be hurriedly put together so another time
we left about 9 stopped to pick up sil but he needed to finish up something home about 1/2 hour I am guessing then gone again and didn't get home till almost 8
just got an text saying my jet pack was down to 10 % remaining of it's 15 never used to have a problem with it till the last three months I think this month I kept track of when I came on and off except for one day forgot... I haven't done pandora at all I have only watched a short video less than 10 min...doesn't make since to me at all... I might take it to the store and see if there is a problem one day it was on during the day to charge it as it doesn't seem to charge unless it's on grumble right??
you all have a good day
