27th Of December

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

27th Of December

Good afternoon! Having another cup of coffee if anyone wants to join me! Just got back from getting a haircut. It was a bittersweet moment. My gal is selling her shop to the young woman she has worked with for many years and moving to New Jersey area. Her kids are both in that area now plus her husband’s kids are in the NYC area so they’ve decided they want to be closer to them all. I’m really happy for her but after 15 years it’s hard to say good bye. She and I have shared so much over the years. But at least I know Shanna can do a good job too. So I won’t be hunting someone else.

Sounds like everyone had a nice Christmas. I saw both of my boys and had dinner with my oldest son and his family. Otherwise it was quiet. Just the way I prefer it. I didn’t do any decorating so am not facing the chore of taking down and putting away! Again, to my liking!

We’ve actually had a couple of nice days and makes me itch to get out and go somewhere! But then they say the rain will move in later today and into Saturday so I’ll be glad to be home! At least it isn’t a huge snowstorm. We still have plenty of time for that! So other then that, not much different from here. Been enjoying reading about everyone else’s adventures. Take care and stay safe and warm.

I took my good camera to the river this morning. I was hoping to see one of the woodpeckers. I could hear one but searched and searched and couldn't find him/her. But, miracle of miracles, Ty put a foot in the water. Then another, then walked in a little bit. The water was totally calm today and is very shallow... But you have to realize, Ty generally walks around puddles lol. This is a major breakthrough and maybe one I shouldn't have wished for

Tomorrow I drive about 30 miles... The cold has arrived and looks to be preparing to stay awhile. I'm fine with it on the sunny (and even better, calm) days... Feels like fall which I actually love. I might become grumpier on the cloudy/damp days.

I woke up to a foggy cold damp morning. Have had a few sunbreaks but they are short lived. Oh well I am busy in the house anyway. I had to put all my Christmas decorations and tree away until next year, so that job is done. Except for taking it over to the storage unit. Now busy deep cleaning my dining room. I am trying to do one room at a time and do EVERYTHING to that room before I move on. I think I have ADHD........cleaned the kitchen a couple days ago, now on to the dining room, move stuff off the dining room table back into the kitchen oh heck.........that isnt going to work. I just need to focus LOL This is a work in progress.

My excitement for the day, lightening struck the transformer behind my house. I love our electric coop. They had my power back on in 2 hours. I sure wouldn't want their job. I could see lightening in the distance when the man was up the pole. He had an audience, me, CC and 16 cows. CC, my attack cat, was growling at the man through the storm door. If I had opened the door CC would have high tailed it to the bed room. Lightening struck the transformer in the same place years ago. I'm just glad they didn't have to come in my yard with a bucket truck this time. That would have been a mess.

The wind started yesterday and it blew like crazy until this morning and then the rain started. It's still raining but I think the worst line has passed here. We are under a flood watch. The pasture is flooded. I could hear stuff blowing around in the yard last night. The wind turned a hay ring on it's side and rolled it into a corner in the pasture behind the house. A hay ring is a pipe cage they put around the big round bails of hay to keep cows from walking in the hay and wasting it.

Be careful what you wish for Beth, you might be dealing with a wet dog. lol
