Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Good Morning??
Left home early to get an oil change. New SUV uses synthetic oil so another learning experience. Stopped at Walgreens on my way home for the yearly flu shot. I usually wait a little later in October but they are saying there are early cases of flu. Not sure who they are. Main reason for me is that I volunteer at a local medical facility and will be in close contact with germs. :( Taking a road trip to town of Berlin, Maryland tomorrow. The movie Runaway Bride was filmed there. Heard it is a quaint little town with antique shops and the local hotel has a nice lunch menu. Need to get out of town for a break from bacteria in the well and the washer that doesn’t fill with water. But it is all good because I have a lot of clean underwear.
Safe travels

Driving home from Oak Ridge, TN, area, I contemplated my schedule for the next couple of weeks while Josef's foot heals from some minor surgery. I thought of calling a couple of friends to meet up for lunch, also thought of going to explore some little shops and some clearance racks. So be cautious out there in the quaint towns and stores. It is dangerous to be retired and have just enough discretionary funds to know that you CAN afford something but do you really need it. I have come to understand the positive endorphins released from making "great" finds, even as I am standing in the Thrift store thinking what will I do with another dog show jacket?

Josef came home with Best of Breed wins both days over competition and earned himself 3 point Major Grand points each day. He also gathered up 5 more Owner Handler points for each win and an additional 10 points for his OH Group 4 placement on Sunday. This weekend was the last chance competitors had to add to the annual Owner Handler points used to figure the Top Ten invited down to Orlando. He will get an invitation for sure but will need to wait to find out what the dogs behind him did this weekend before he will know the final ranking. He when down last year ranked number 4.....he has moved up this year.

A flu shot is on my to do list. My sister and her bunch have something that sure sounds like the flu. She will be camping with me on the 18th and I sure hope she isn't contagious. Since her granddaughters are always at her house there is always something going around there.

Congratulations to Josef. I saw his basket on Facebook.

There was a city wide garage sale going on near the campground I was at. I managed to not buy anything. It looked like a lot of junk to me. There was a silent auction at the campout to raise money for cancer. I only bid on one thing and was out bid. Thank goodness!

Having to watch the weather again. The storm that is predicted to come into the Gulf and go towards Florida. I don't wish it on anyone but don't want it here.

Watching the hurricane weather predictions here. Bob has a dr. Appt. in Gainesville tomorrow. I told him we should take the RV in case we need to stay there a couple day to sit out the storm. But we will wait and see what the forecast says in the morning. The men and equipment are here to remove the big tree that fell in our yard a few weeks ago. They will also remove the portion that is still standing and trim some other trees around it. I moved my RV down to the RV park while they are working. If we don’t have to evacuate the storm, I will park the RV up near the church where there are no large trees.

We got our flu shots last week while we were in Live Oak.

Good Morning, I also have received my flu shot. Early for me to do so, but it was aconvient time to get it.

Thanks Beth for the secret pin!!! Now, what do I NOT want the world to see? Also
, interested in your buying of the NM yearly pass. I investegsted it and decided against it. Maybe we can discuss it at Q.
A couple of years ago I bought the TX yearly pass at a park that charged $7.00 for each admission. Soon discovered most of their parkscharged onlt $2/3, so lost money on ithat deal.

Off to PT this afternoon?!?!? Will report on the experience later!

After noon here already! Haven't even had breakfast yet  .

Looks like another gorgeous day here. Birds are chirping happily.

I would like to start working on putting down the turf along the driveway today. Need to prepare that area first tho with weed killer, weed cloth and sand to level it out. Then move pavers from the back yard to the edge of the driveway.

My roommate is out of town for a day or two to visit her kids/grandkids in Ramona.

I need to get a flu shot soon too!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Got my flu shot a couple of weeks ago. Also had a cat-scan this morning, so I took Uber for the first time. Both drivers, to and from, were women and cars were spotlessly clean, plus they were on time, which was a concern. hen took a side trip to the mall so I could get my bad haircut of a month ago cleaned up. Hairdresser who cut it this time said my previous haircut was "interesting." Sides were too long and one was longer than the other.

Could not eat anything before cat-scan and had to drink that horrible stuff, so just finished eating a subway I picked up at mall. It was nice to leave my motorhome at the campground. Could not take it to doctor anyway as there is just no parking for it, and it is rainy and really cold here, so no riding my bike!! And my haircut looks much better than last one.

Hi all,
I'm visiting my brother & sister-in-law on Samish Island, WA. Helping out with their twin 2-month old girls while my brother attends a conference in Portland. They managed the first 2 months without much help, but are both exhausted. Hopefully I can leave some helpful hints with them before I leave on Friday. Both the babies & my sister-in-law are sleeping at the moment. Hoping to help stretch out the feeding times for the babies & maybe sync up their naptimes with each other if possible. WA state is beautiful! Trees are changing colors & we've had a light mist yesterday & today. I'm loving it! Took a walk around a loop on the island yesterday - absolutely lovely. Hope to get a few more walks in before I leave.

Spent last week in Kansas City. Flew the two youngest from CA home so we could all celebrate my oldest daughter's birthday. Enjoyed time with my 9-month old great granddaughter & the other grandkids. Truly miss having all my kids together. But looking forward to getting back to my place in LA, back to Olivia, Sadie & even sunshine. ;) Sometimes going away for a bit makes home all the more appealling.

Trying to catch up with everyone here. Looks like flu shots are in order (will get mine when I get back home). Hope the hurricanes stay away & rains don't cause anyone harm. Congrats to Josef!
Babies are starting to move around, I'd better go.
Take care,
Catherine

Unless I change plans, I'll more than get my money's worth on my annual pass here in NM. Lyn, I purchased the Texas one once and got my money back because of the free nights they give you when you purchase. I figured it all out before buying. With the NM pass at $225, and the drycamping sites $10 without it and free with it, at 22 nights drycamping I'd break even. And there's a discount for electric sites. I figure I'll use it 60-90 or more nights this winter. The more I use it, the more I'll save.

Last night I was at one of their state parks in a canyon. I really like that park but hope, someday, to be there in season. Tonight I'm at another... Not one of my favorite of their parks but still better than most "resorts" in my mind, but again out of season.

Interesting.

Although I have now been doing solo travelling now and again for the last few years, I am still a total newbie compared to you, Beth, and to most others on here, like JudyJB, Karen, Monik and others. However, even with my limited experience, I have found state and county parks to be far superior than "private" RV parks - both in price, cleanliness, friendliness and amenities.

To the extent that, when travelling, my first choice are always the state and county parks.

Funny how that is.

Anne they certainly are my first choice in several states. Corp of Engineer parks are good also. But I have to say for value and scenery, NM hands down wins for state parks with me. Private cgs are usually a last resort, but ok for a night of laundry if a good price.
