Rainy Monday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Rainy Monday

Postby Othersharon » Mon Sep 10, 2018 11:32 am

Good morning, okay guess it’s afternoon! Anyway, been monitoring the weather this morning. So far the heaviest rain and flooding has stayed more south of us. But there has been some local flooding but not near as bad as other areas. It’s been a heavy steady rain since I got up this morning. And this is only round one, Hurricane Florence a threat too. Irmi, any anticipation for you guys? Wish we could send some of this out west. Bet all this rain could help put out all the fires! Sue, was happy to see you post. Sounds like you had a good camping trip! I have a trip planned in a couple of weeks so hope weather clears up by then!

Was going to go to Wal Mart and Sam’s Club this week end but when I drove by the lots were so full I decided I could wait until a week day! Had a nice dinner at my son’s last night. He made a huge pot of chicken noodle soup and sent a container home with me! He makes really good soup and it was a good night for it. Got to spend a couple of minutes with youngest grandson to see how he’s adjusting to middle school. So far so good, he’s getting into the routine of changing classes and much larger classes then he had at the charter school that he went to. Granddaughter says she hates high school but then she wasn’t a fan of the middle school either!

So that’s it from here, just wanted to check in. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning All,
Spent the morning changing appointments in anticipation of bad weather from hurricane Florence. Too soon to tell if I need supplies for home or a go bag for my daughter’s. Last big threat I had to evacuate because I live on a peninsula. There wasn’t a problem but if they say go, I do. Felt better when I had my home on wheels. I really have to stop saying “stupid weather” might be jinxing everyone. Stay safe.

Good morning (barely)!

Sounds very wet out east this morning! Hope you gals stay high and dry and safe!

Warm and sunny with no breeze here in SoCal. I fogged the porch last night and will probably fog the house tomorrow while I am at work. Today is cleaning and moving into the master! Yay! Finally! Also laundry since that is really piling up. I need to sort thru clothes and get rid of some but I think that will be a project for another day.

I took half of an Advil PM at 11:00 last night and slept until 10am this morning! Still feel tired but hopefully I will perk up soon! Have a busy day ahead!

Hope you all have a good day! :D

Good afternoon Sharon, Shirl, Barbie & everyone!

The latest update on hurricane Florence is that it will come in off the ocean into the Carolina's, Virginia & West Virginia. I'm sure we'll still get rain and winds from the storm but yesterday they were calling for one to two feet of rain and that could have been a serious problem on top of the saturated ground we already have. The beach areas of North Carolina are already being evacuated. We topped off the gas tank on our tow vehicle this morning and the motorhome is always ready at a moments notice. We have enough food to last at least a week or more, so we're prepared to leave if we have to.

It was thundering this morning but I don't think it ever rained. There are showers coming in from the Gulf. I feel for the ones watching to see what Florence is going to do. It looks like it could be a bad rain event. South Carolina is talking about turning some highways into one way out tomorrow. I would get out today. Getting caught in a contra flow is a mess. There is something South of Cuba that could become a tropical storm like Gordon and go into Texas by the weekend bringing a lot of rain. The last I heard about Isaac was that it was going to fizzle out by the time it gets to the Caribbean. I sure hope they are right about that.

I bought one of the grills they advertise on TV at Walmart last week. My sister has one and likes it. I cooked a steak on it yesterday and I liked it. My steak was a little over an inch thick. I think it would work better on a thiner steak. I think chicken would have to be boneless to get it fully cooked. If you put sauce on something it would probably make it smoke. It's not very heavy duty but is easy to clean.

I think I might try to make some some mini pies using lemon curd and fig preserves for filling. I tried this one time using crescent dough and that puffs too much. I have some pie dough so will try that. I must like making messes instead of following recipes.

Been lazy about posting, but I wanted to comment that fall is really here. Instead of a campground packed with families, at least Armitage Park in Eugene, OR, is becoming filled with older adults--both full-timers and those traveling for several months. Makes a nice, quiet place!

Also, a lot of bigger rigs are arriving as well. Fewer smaller "weekend" type rigs. This county park not only has full-hookups at a reasonable $30 per night, but they also have a very clean laundry with three front-loading washers and three dryers. ($2.00 per washer and 25 cents for 12 minutes of drier time.) I like that because my laundry tends to build up, so I did three loads when I arrived yesterday and will do at least a couple more before I leave Thursday morning. And, because the washers are front-loaders, I can do a couple of rugs.

Also, it sprinkled last night and temps are cool. Supposed to rain tomorrow and Wednesday, which is what Oregon needs!

Hope the hurricane misses everyone. And good luck with what is hopefully the last of the fleas!

I wish. I was 100 degrees here at my house yesterday, and 100 degrees here again today.

Fall generally arrives here late October/early November, "these days".

You have to get out of there, Anne. High of 73 today and will be high of 69 tomorrow here in Eugene, but it felt colder, especially in the morning. Some sprinkles overnight and more expected tomorrow.
