1st Sunday of March

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

1st Sunday of March

Postby Colliemom » Sun Mar 04, 2018 7:35 am

Morning everyone. Reading yesterday’s posts, I too agree on time flying by. Few more weeks and Easter will be here. Beth, hard to believe it will be time to start wandering north for you pretty soon. Hope you have a great year at rhe store this year. Irmi, hope Steve is feeling better today and you too. Alice, good news on the storage facikity. Now you can be off and gone, exploring thosecplacescyou’ve been wanting to see.

I’m watching you gals on the Keto diet with interest, to see how you do. I too am in a low carb, high protein diet. One I used years ago, recomended by my NP. Called the Power Protein diet. Being on what is called the intervention phase, I am allowed 30 grams of carbs a day. I track my carbs each day, measuring everything. I have stayed away from breads, pasta, casseroles, all sweets, high carb veggies and fruits etc., and since the first of the year, am now down 15 pounds. It takes work, but it’s working. It’s surprising how fast those carbs add up. The dressing in that salad, the veggies and fruit you eat, that dab of ketchup on the burger not to mention the bun, the sauces and ingredients in things you make etc. etc.

Off to mass here in a bit, then not sure where this day is going. As is typical of March, we have snow and cold coming in this week, so maybe this is good time for a “Sunday drive”

Hope you all have a wonderful day and those in the NE, didn’t suffer any damage in that major storm.

Good morning
Today I shall continue on my painting in the fifthwheel, I'm down to just the slide area but I'm fighting those blasted ugly box balances to take down. 1 down and 3 to go. Next year when I'm done wandering I can make some nice curtains. Yesterday I delivered my little washer and dryer to my son for their use. I've gotten accustomed to using the laundry facilities so I'm not going to miss it.
Been listening to the owl hoot all morning. It roosts in the big palm tree next door. Got the binoculars out this morning, but I've seen it fly a time of two. I think its a great horned owl but my view was never really that good to know for sure, but very common here.
The park models here are getting moved out quickly now. I drove around the south side yesterday and saw where 3 in a row were gone! Left a big gap with their absence. Some owners are still holding out that the lease will be renewed.
Guess I better get dressed and get busy, y'all have a good day, be safe.

Beautiful day today--sunny and cool. I need to drive out of here today and find a large parking lot with better Verizon service so I can listen to students give online impromptu presentation. I drove out yesterday, supposedly to go to the Desert Botanical Museum between the noon and 5:00 pm online groups, but the museum was closed for a special event. Guy in parking lot directed me to a nearby park I "could not miss." As you might guess, I missed it and ended up in a huge, crowded sports park with no place to park or turn around.

Ended up moving two staff only signs and pulled into their staff lot and put shades down and front curtain on. Listened to 45 minutes of presentations and then got out of there fast!! I really hate getting stuck someplace, and I am not usually a person to park illegally or move signs, but there was absolutely no other place to turn around. Very stressful.

Today, I have a Kohl's lined up near a Penneys, so I can shop at Kohls between groups (2 and 5 pm) and get my hair cut while I am waiting. No one will throw me out of their parking lots, at least.

Enjoy the beginnings of spring, all!

Off to the daughters today. I know I missed the March 1st report in. I have been going over to the daughters 2xa week. I do want to go camping, but do not want to be very far away from SD. Maybe out to the desert for a couple of days...we will see.

I practice my guitar 5 days a week, with a lesson on Saturday morning. It is coming along slowly. My teacher is 40 something. He introduces songs and artists I have never heard of! Yesterday her introduced a song by Johnny Cash, Circle of Fire. I have at least heard of Johnny Cash!

We now have "dockless" bikes all over town. I think they are wonderful, but, they ride on the sidewalks!! They also have electric scooters. They go very fast on the sidewalks, and are SILENT. I almost stepped in front of one the other day. I am waiting for a crash with a pedestrian. SD is killing more pedestrians than ever this year with the cars. Now the scooters are aiming for us!!!

I was taught bikes aren't allowed on sidewalks. Those would be downright dangerous!

I know it's afternoon... I'm just getting things done today. I've worked on a schedule for the store this summer. Have cooked in the pressure cooker... That's cooling off in the fridge before some gets frozen. I had one White Castle slider for lunch... Didn't know it's possible to eat just one :) My bed is stripped... Need to take all my laundry down. Cleaning inside. And being a bum. It's a beautiful day, so a walk is in order again soon. We had a good one this morning.

Not as motivated today as I should be. Slept in and then napped on the couch shortly thereafter! I noticed there was an Open House down the street from me so decided to check it out. The house is completely updated and looks so nice! The best part tho is it is also on the creek and has a huge deck out back and stairs down to a patio right along side the creek and there are huge palms on the other side. Remindes me of the palm canyons in the desert. It is really pretty! I would love to have a deck or patio along the creek. It is too steep to do that tho. Hopefully, I can at least clear out enough small trees, brush and vines to open my view up more.

The inside inspired me with more ideas for my house. I decided that I am going to paint the walls in my kitchen white to match the cabinets (instead of the beige that I started) and then paint the counters a light brown/beige color. Will brighten it up in there and look good with my red dishes and small appliances. I can't afford new counter tops and really hate the orange color on them now. I went to Home Depot and bought the paint for the counters and am testing it out now. It is special paint just for counter tops.

I also changed my mind on the bedroom paint. She had white below the chair rail and green above it. I was going to keep the white below and paint peach on top, but I think I will reverse it. It will be too much color on top otherwise. The room is kind of dark since the window actually looks out onto the inside porch. I think the white on top will make it lighter in there.

I am planning to do some changes in the guest bath too. She "updated" it with chestnut brown cabinets and a black granite countertop and a white bowl that sits on top of the counter. The bowl is way too high and the towel bar is about a foot above my head, and the cabinet over the toilet is so high I can't reach the doors. The mirror is high because the faucet for the bowl has to be high too. Not sure what she was thinking when she did all that. The bathroom is way too small for all that and the dark colors. I will keep the cabinets but lower the one over the toilet, get a new lighter colored countertop with a regular inset sink and faucet and lower the towel bars and mirror. I priced out the counter and sink and it won't cost alot to replace since it is so small. Will have to see how much my handyman will charge me to install it. Maybe I can sell the old counter and sink on CL. (The shower surround is still the avocado green from the 70's and the shower head is only about 5 feet high!)

Anyways, a lot of planning, so I need to get to a lot of actually "doing", lol! I think I needed to see that other place today to get a fire under my butt for my place!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
