Friday Payday!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Friday Payday!

Postby JudyJB » Fri Jul 28, 2017 12:43 pm

Yes, today is my payday, and my checking account is woefully low so it is much appreciated. :D I was confused that no one had posted, and thought I might have my days off, but I guess everyone must have been up late last night watching the news.

This is the first day is over a week that I can really relax all day. I drove for four days straight to get here, had to ride my bike 5 miles to a doctor's appointment on the 5th day, and then yesterday spent several hours at Camping World. Once they were done replacing my water pump and re-seating my toilet, I had to clean up from them and put out new towels, etc. Also had to damp mop floor and they and some company had tracked little things in. (I go barefoot inside, so I can feel every piece of grit.) Also changed my bed and did some other cleaning.

I am taking it easy but late afternoon will need to do laundry, but it is not very far to walk. I have two big bags ready to go. The good thing is that this is a very comfortable campground so I am staying here until Wednesday morning. Going to try to catch up on sleep and small tasks.

Now I wonder what news I should have stayed up to watch...

I am keeping very busy caring for my brother-in-law and trying to get my sister to keep up with the post knee-replacement exercises. I worry because she seems very tired and lethargic, and/ or maybe a little depressed because she's not bouncing back as quickly as she had imagined. Then my BIL started complaining about the cost of adding more hours of care-giving for him while my sister recovers. I told him I haven't sent him my bill yet for the hours the caregivers aren't here, lol. It's all exhausting for me...up at 5:30 a.m. and fall into bed about 9:30 p.m. I told the family that the latest I can stay is August 24 (6 weeks post surgery), and I am counting those days. I'll let the kids tell dad that caregiving hours will likely need to be increased some more when I leave unless my sister has improved enough to take over things like hoyer-lift transfers from bed to wheelchair and back, etc.

Ok, enough venting. I did get an overdue blog post done today about Tina and my visit to Harpers Ferry, WV.

Mid afternoon here, but popping in for a quick 'hi ya ladies'.

My BIL's wake was Monday and small service at the funeral home on Tuesday. He is being cremated. Once his son collects the ashes, we will figure out what to do with him & my sister. I'd like to see both of them out at Lincoln Memorial veterans cemetery, but nothing is decided yet. Ken was a good friend to me since my sister's passing, and was one of my two TT back-up teachers. I'll miss him.

Hanging out at Dad's since I'm no longer a home owner. Cleaned the house for him today. Tons of dust! :o Dad has been blind in one eye since he was a child, and the other eye has a cataract, so he doesn't see it.

I have a cousin coming in from Arizona in early September to help me drive Ma around to look at progressive adult communities. It will help having someone else tell her she needs to move since my sister is gone and I'm hoping (fingers crossed) to be on the road in October after the Thomson GTG. Maybe I'll stalk Lyn on her travels for a bit. :P

Bought a new laptop and immediately ate up the 10G limit for 4G, so the jetpack is poking along at 3G (so much for unlimited data :x ). But the phone also has lots of data, so that will have to suffice for another week.

Well that's my news. Have a good day ladies and stay safe wherever you are.

I'm wondering what news I missed too. lol I like the late night shows but have a hard time staying awake through them.

Liz, it sounds like we are in the same boat. Being a caregiver is exhausting. The only good thing for me is I have lost 15 pounds in 2 months. I talked to a nursing home Tuesday and am waiting to see if we can get him in for a month. They have more experience with stroke victims and maybe they can get his medicine regulated better. I can't help but think when you are taking 15 pill a day something might be causing more harm than good.

I am on Pacific time, so I was watching the vote on health care last night at about midnight, except it was 3:00 am EDT. That's why I thought some of you might have been up late watching it in various time zones. The truth is that it was not very interesting, other than McCain's speech.

I tend to leave the TV on very quietly in my bedroom at night.

Finally figuring out how to use my new smartphone. No wifi where I am staying. I am just north of Idaho Falls at a county park. It is on a small lake. Sheila picked me up just after I got set up and took me thru some of Teton national park. Saw her grandfather's famous barn. So beautiful out there! Will be here til Sunday and then head down 15 to San Diego. Car is working good now so just gonna keep going with it. Lola and I are ready to be done with this trip.
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
