Sunday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunday

Postby avalen » Sun May 28, 2017 11:13 am

Good morning
spent a few lively days up on the rim out of Star Valley in
an area of the Tonto Nat'l forest called Diamond point. Its
been said there are diamonds up there and they certainly
do look like diamonds but they are actually clear crystals.
I found many. The weather was great, the stars plentiful,
and hardly a soul around. Saw coyote, elk, and heard deer
but not see them. Turns out we were about 500 feet from
their watering hole across the road.
We came back yesterday as the weekend crowds moved in.
Taking daughter and family up there in a couple weeks for
a long weekend and after that it will be time to finish the
packing for the long trip.
Only one last thing to do to the motorhome before I go. The
front sets low and the springs need some shims to bring it up.
Hope its not too expensive.
Helping a friend clean house today in preparation for relatives
to visit.
That's it from me, y'all have a great day, be safe.

Good morning - very warm Memorial Day here in N. Central CA. My beautiful flag is flying in remembrance and thanks to all who serve and those who have served.

Ava - other than the front springs on Somewhere, did everything else check out OK.

Pleasant sunny day here at Trinidad Lake SP. When I got here yesterday afternoon, it was noisy and busy with kids riding bikes and people cooking out, but today is much quieter. One reason is that you cannot access the lake from this campground because it is on a 180' cliff overlooking the lake. You have to drive down to the beach and boat ramp, and I suspect that a lot of people are down there. PLus I am lucky in that the site across from me and the one next to me are apparently no-shows. There are tags saying they were supposed to be here two days ago, but no one is there. And two other groups left, but I suspect they will be replaced. If you every stop by here, know that the sites nearest the lake are the largest and farthest apart, although distance apart is relative because this is pretty tight for a state park.

I fixed myself some crepes and cooked up some blackberry sauce to go on them. Yum. I bought a slab of ribs yesterday, so I need to cook those up and freeze them in two-rib sections. I had been working my way through the stuff in my freezer and finally reached the point where I need new re-heatable meals.

After two days of driving, it really feels nice to just sit. I've been here before, so no need to go out sightseeing, and I am too tired for that anyway. Still got repair chores inside, including a new one. Noticed that some of the sealing tape around the top of my slide inside is hanging loose. Need to get my taller step ladder out to check that and glue it back in.

Good Memorial Day concert on TV this evening, so have a good day.

A beautiful mid 80's day here in Sacramento Valley in CA. Was so nice and cool out last night. But we know warmer weather ahead.
Mel smoked pork butt yesterday and I fixed sides to go with for today and tomorrow. Will put comments on recipes in recipe section.
We are cautiously optimistic after a call from the medical oncologist yesterday saying he thinks he found a study for Mel to get an experimental drug. Keeping fingers crossed.
Not much planned but enjoy the sunshine. Got my flags out. And Mel helped me hang a red white and blue banner out on porch.
Have a good safe holiday everyone. Remembering our Fathers and Uncles who served before us. And proud of our time served in the Navy. We cover all the services but coast guard with his Dad Army, mine Marines, and Uncles in Air Force and us in the Navy!

Yes, Happy Memorial Day! My Dad was too old to serve in WW11, so he worked the swing shift and volunteered his time with the Coast Guard between 12 mid and 6 AM. He helped guard San Diego Bay! Lyn

worked all day and then headed west to Walmart. Got hit with a storm while in there. High winds and rain. Sunny by the time I got out. Then headed back to north of Minneapolis to visit my mom's grave site with a floral wreath. She has been gone 10 years now. My cousin Dawn is buried next to her. She has been gone for 4 years from this Tuesday. She was a hairstylist too and was a few years younger than me and died of cancer.

I watched another storm head towards me there but just skirted south of me. Then I headed back and got home just when another storm hit with high winds and some rain but didn't last long. Just a lot of hit and miss storms rolling thru today and tomorrow as well.

Have a friend coming over tomorrow morning to help me get the camper dewinterized and charge up the batteries. I may be changing my plans a bit now. Will know more by the end of the week...

Velda, I hope you can get Mel into that study! Keeping fingers crossed here too!

Ava, can you post a photo of those crystals you found? Would love to see what they look like!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)

Wow Lyn, I've seen documentary about those men who guarded the coast. That is interesting.

Thanks Barbara, we hope this works out and is effective.
