First Monday of April

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

First Monday of April

Postby Colliemom » Mon Apr 03, 2017 6:28 am

Morning from the cloudy 45th,

Rain showers around up here but more late today. Kind of messing up my plans for today. Want to go down SE of here to RV dealer to look at a trailer I have been eyeing and take mine along so they can look it over for a trade. I have a trade quote sight unseen right now. So will probably go anyway, as weather this week is going to be so so, only fairly decent day being Wednesday and they are closed on Weds. Highs near 60 today, so won't be bad.

Martha, hope you don't have any damages from all the storms last night. Was watching the Weather Channel and mother nature certainly was on a rampage. I have some neighbors on way home from FL, hope they were far enough north of that mess. Birdiem, good ideacto stay wherevyou were till it all passes. People who bought my old house are down there right now, picking up their TT they left down at daughters when they moved up here last spring. Won't be back here for couple weeks yet.

Made reservations at Woodland campground up near I-80 in PA for June 16-18. Plan to go down to Punxsutawney from there for a day.

So, that's it from the far north. Hope you have a nice day. Keep safe everyone.

Good Morning, Cloudy here and we are supposed to get rain but that seems to be the norm.

Sue I'm going to sell my RV but plan to do it myself. I see you intend to trade at a dealer. Are there advantages to trading as opposed to selling it yourself? I find it is so hard to tell with all the sales talk how much you are really getting when you trade, so I usually sell rather than trade. I'm interested in learning others viewpoints.

Enjoy the day and stay dry!

BJ, try looking on NADA to get an idea of values for your RV. I think they also give you an idea of what you can expect for trade in values.

We lucked out again and the bad weather went North of us. We didn't even get much rain. There were 2 deaths near Breaux Bridge which is about 50 miles from here. A mobil home was blown over. I tried to call my son to see if it hailed where he lives but he doesn't answer. All this mess is in Alabama now. Hope Sarah doesn't have any damage.

Annie has to go for her annual shots this afternoon. The vet has something else they are pushing. They want to do blood work on senior cats. I let them do that on Stinky and it was a mess. She gets so upset going to the vet anyway. They had to sedate her to just draw blood. I'm not putting Annie through that. She is going to have to have a shot for her allergies anyway. I wish I could remember to get the stuff to treat the yard for fleas. I want to go to Lafayette but I'm sure Annie doesn't want to go shopping. lol

I did the NADA but didn't see trade in value anywhere. It gives average and low retail. Seems like I remember you divide the difference in two and take that from the average. Maybe I just dreamed that part!

Didn’t remember to check in on the first, but I did remember to say Rabbits about 4:00 in the morning when I woke up and couldn’t go back to sleep. I hope that helps me sleep better! Nothing new happening around here. We have camping reservations made for five days over Memorial Day and about a week for the 4th. Wish that it would warm up enough that I could dewinterize the 5er and shampoo the carpets….probably going to be at least three weeks before I can do that.

We’re in the baby-wait mode. Due date isn’t until May 10th, but Ashley is so uncomfortable that I hope she goes early. She did with Bronc. This weekend they went to the PBA as a family weekend with just the three of them. Bronc thought it was just fantastic and was talking a mile a minute about the big mean bulls. He was also totally impressed with a motel with a swimming pool! Yesterday he couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t set up his pool on the patio.

This Friday we’re going to Mitchell for a girl’s night out. Cathy bought tickets for a Hairball concert. Faye and I have no desire to go to the concert (too loud and not our era) so the rest of them are going to that and we’re going to check out the movies. We have rooms reserved for the night. Should be a fun night.

Today I have to open the bar at 4:00 and work for 4-5 hours. I kind of enjoy it and it gets me out of the house.

Have a great week. Travel safe…keep healthy….enjoy!

BJ, Class B's usually sell for more than NADA. Look at other rv trader ads, Craigslist ads and what similar are selling for on EBay for some ideas. In your case I'd say you'd most likely do better selling on your own... But I did better trading this last time because my old rig had so many problems and for us full timers, we don't have any way to empty things out, etc. But I feel I did good price-wise.

I couldn't fall asleep last night because of a headache. I took Tylenol pm. Cracks me up because I need a lot of sleep to get it to wear off. So I rarely take it. I'm still foggy, but about to get going. Walk around this state park again this morning, then a quite short ride to some blm land where I'll meet up with Linda. She'll have a much longer ride, so no hurry here.

Peaches is staring at me... Time to get a move on.

Sheila, I agree, I'm a wimp when it comes to winds. Supposed to have a cool down with winds tomorrow so I'm already planning to stay two nights. Of course it all depends on liking this place when I get there. :)

And Pat, why can't the pool get set up Bronc's way haha

Bad weather is hitting me right now. Early part went through an hour ago, but main part with heavy rains is just starting, according to radar. Will probably lose satellite, but cell service for internet will be fine. Quite a few campers have left, but I expect more will arrive later as they have only four sites available for tonight. A lot of local people.

Not much going on today. I went through all my maps and organized them by region and pulled out the ones I will use in the next couple of months. Tossed out quite a few duplicates.

Have a good day, everyone!

I opted to trade because I'm a wimp! I had nightmares about how to handle people coming to look at my rig and not wanting to be alone. It seemed so hard to always arrange someone to be with me. And I worried about people wanting to test drive it. What if they didn't know a thing about RV's? And smashed it up. Or broke something? Or tried to scam me. Happens all too often. No matter what price you ask, they always want it much cheaper or find a list of repairs they want you to do. They let their kids fiddle with knobs, jump on sofas and beds, and many of them will be just nosy or not have the money or proper loan. And there's the paperwork, the legal stuff, etc. Sort of like selling your house without an agent. I'm a chicken. I know it cost me a few dollars to just let the dealer deal with it all.

Just sayin'. Cluck, cluck.

I have alway just traded when I wanted to change RV's because the one I was getting rid of had some kind of problem. Easier to let the dealer handle the problem than pass it on to someone else. Like Evie said, it's a hassle to try to sell something. There is so much crooked stuff going on now I wouldn't want to deal with it.

Pat, I can't believe a band picked the name Hairballs. I have to deal with too many hairballs in the floor. The last concert I went to I had to put kleenex in my ears because the music was so loud. The young people now days will be wearing hearing aids early.

Pat, how can you say no to Broc!? Maybe you need to put in a hot tub :) He's growing up so fast!

I know it is a pain to sell a vehicle yourself but if I buy my step-brothers RV then I will need to sell mine so no dealer involved. Added bonus though will be no sales tax, if Google is correct and step-brothers are legally considered 'family'.
