Monday Morning

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Monday Morning

Morning,

Mild morning here, rain showers on forecast. The Hillsborough GTG gals are scattering to the wind today. I see a GTG is already in works for next year. Now hopefully some will pop up over summer.

Barbie, glad to hear your brother is making such good progress and that you were able to go see him. Lyn, where are you off to now? What are the dates of that rally you are going to in Sept. Couple of us are thinking of doing a GTG in IL right after that since you mentioned you wanted to meet some of us from over this way.

As for me, I'm off to town this morning. Chiropractor, shopping etc. Time to restock the larder around here. Otherwise nothing really planned for the day or what will be left of it.

I'm here, but got a lot of work today. I need to remember to schedule a really boring and cheap place to spend the last couple of weeks each semester instead of this lovely, expensive campground!!! I will take time off to go for a long bike ride and short beach walk today. Short beach walk because it is crazy windy down there with huge surf. At least yesterday, when I rode down for a quick look, there was hardly anyone on the beach. Also, a bit chilly this week.

And Sue, Boulder Campground along Lake Carlyle in southern Illinois is a great place. It is COE and cheap!! They only have about 7 full hookup sites, but those are only $12 per night. Electric is $9. It is on a lake, so kayaking and hiking available. Nice views.

If we're looking at COE's , there's Clinton and Thomson. Clinton being more centrally located and Thomson being north along the Mississippi. Just depends on where Lyn's route would take her.

Sue ~ regarding IL COE CGs...
Carlyle Lake has a couple of them. My very first trip was to Coles Creek. They have one loop with full service on the sites, a group loop and then another loop. Not sure of the services on that one tho. Coles Creek is about 10-15 minutes from town. No big deal. Carlyle Lake also has the Dam West and Dam East CGs (which is actually south :-) ). Drove thru both of them. Both nice also. Check them out on recreation.gov. The lake itself is kind of muddy, but the CGs are nice.

There are also a few COE CGs at Lake Shelbyville. I found out about them at the RV show. They had a couple of the COE rangers at the show. I have a reservation at Coon Creek in May. The rangers also said there are some other CGs there which they said are nice, but I don't remember the names of them.

Lynn - if you stick around IL in July, I'd stay away from Thomson Causeway on the Mississippi. I was there in July and the may flies were horrendous! Rigs were completely covered and no one was able to sit outside. In cooler weather is probably OK.

Good afternoon all:)

Catching up again. Great pix of Hillsborough gtg! Big group, & I was happy to see many faces I know:)

Barbie, keeping good thoughts for your brother & for you, other brother & all others involved. Also, hope you find a nice place to live.

And I totally missed Rabbit Rollcall, but was nice to see so many checking in. Sharon, sorry to hear about Sam Cat. So sad when our little ones get sick & near their end:(

Wishing you all a great day, safe travels always 8-)

I made it home about an hour ago. I am pooped from fighting the wind for two 400 mile days. It was really bad on the long and tall bridges and there are a lot of them. I thought about waiting it out today but there is a front coming through with rain tomorrow.

It was nice to meet everyone, some I knew and some I had never met. Thanks to Donna and Margie for such a good GTG.

Worked all day today and then stopped off to pick up something at Michaels and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Came home during a big thunderstorm! It didn't last long in my area but more storms heading thru the Twin Cities for the next several hours. There was even a tornado about 30 miles north of me a little while ago. We are still under at tornado watch for the rest of the night.

Getting more used to my Smartphone but still a lot to figure out. Haven't done any internet stuff on it yet. It takes nice photos.

I guess my brother has been reading things that my SIL has been giving to him. So that is a really good sign that he can read too. His sense of humor is back as well. Like my SIL said yesterday, "David is back!" His neurologist was amazed today at how much progress he has made over the weekend!

I have the next two days off. Lots to do around here and still need to do my taxes. Very tired tonight since I didn't sleep well last night so will go to bed early and sleep in tomorrow.

Gotta find some dinner now. Have a great night!
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
